Good job guys on some good looking cotton! Have you ever tried putting all brush bats on a row to compare the job? Try it and see how you like it! Both rolls with all brush bats only.

I did mine that way year before last because I had some careless weeds 😂. It worked really good, It left some of the burrs on the stalk but did good on not tagging ( I was surprised) and went through the weeds a lot better. I chickened out on totally switching over the next year 😂.

We used to run that combination for 3-4 years. I forget the reason we swapped but it always seemed to work fine. They might have been more expensive i can’t remember

Not sure how much rain yall got in Idalou but we got at least 2 inches west of Abernathy over the last few days and we still don't have our cotton out, it wasn't ready to pull before the rain hit.

How many acres or seasons can you get out of a set of bats and brushes?

A set of new bats & brushes cost around $500 per machine. Depending on crop size we try to swap them mid season & continue to run the same set a bit the next year after they have been broken in. Brand new bats seem to have a very soft rubber & it sure helps to let them sit in the off season after being used. Occasionally we change just the worn out ones as needed.

@ heck of a lot cheaper than replacing spindles even though spindles last quite a bit longer

@chriswilcox1932 Dude I’m driving an ‘08 model pickup , my house is old and small , and my wife’s car is an ‘03 model 😂.
I’m a small farmer, I only wish I could have a new pickup every year.
Oh and those “ big government checks “ ? Where tf do I sign up for those cause the ones I’m getting don’t even pay my fuel bill for the year.
You should take a tour of an actual farm sometime.
