We use to plant Rye for cover crop after cotton in Central Alabama too. Usually turned it under with moldboard plows but that was back in the 80's. We also planted Vetch to rotate cover crops and for erosion purposes.
Good one young fella, the sand is very similiar to north western victoria, the mallee go the 6030 john deere, pull and spin, pulland spin still loved there by some blokes, great work mate onya from an aussie.
You ever considered putting down Manure in them spots that like to wash out or BLOW? Dad said that's what he would do to stop things like that. Just passing along some words ,thanks for the vid!
We used to run a lot of compost. In past years we spread compost on all the irrigated ground. The past 2 years we haven’t because the cover crop is move crucial than spreading manure.
Great content bud! Is that considered sandy loam soil? and do yall ever mix 11-52 with the wheat in your drill box when you’re planting a cash wheat crop?

🌾 Amazing to see how cover crops directly enhance cotton farming. Healthier soil, better yields, and a brighter future for agriculture!
Thank you! It's truly rewarding to see the positive impact cover crops have on our land.
Good video. Interesting about the 5 vs 10 day germination.

That particular farm i would call it pure sand. No we don’t mix fertilizer with wheat seed due to corrosion in the drill boxes.
