    Im happy for you! Please share what Nathan says about the strawberries. The strawberries have been unbelievable!

      No answer yet. We think it's because of low light (short days) and lack of perfect nutrients but as soon as we here back we will let you know. Thank you!

    lovely greenhouse, inspired by your successes, I also planted several tomatoes and cucumbers in perlite. Could you please share information on how often to water tomatoes and cucumbers? Is watering every 2 hours for 30 minutes each time normal?

    • @HomegrownPassion
      @HomegrownPassion  9 месяцев назад

      I think I answered this... i hope I did but we water every 25 minutes for 2 minutes pushing through 1.5 GPH emitters. Two emitters per bucket

    How often if any do you cut yourself using clipping shears? Here in Ca I use diluted coffee for fertilizer. It works why? Can't wait for part2.

    • @HomegrownPassion
      @HomegrownPassion  9 месяцев назад

      So, Devon cut herself one time when we first got them, but no one has gotten cut in years. Hope it stays that way...LOL Will have to look into diluted coffee. I have heard of coffee grinds in the garden but I'm not sure why it's good.

    Im new here. Enjoyed the video. Would you say the cattle or greenhouses are more profitable? Im considering setting up a few hydroponic greenhouses.

    • @HomegrownPassion
      @HomegrownPassion  9 месяцев назад +1

      Greenhouse! If we had a bigger cattle operation, I'm sure it would be right up there. For us we provide grass fed cattle to our csa program, family and friends. No hormones or antibiotics.

    Love the video, kind of like a day in the life where you show us all your different areas. Did Doug find the link to the bags? We are almost out of ours and the longer ones would be great for our chard. Its getting big with the cooler temps! Merry Christmas to you guys!

      amzn.to/3HgtKE5 for the big bags (12x20) and here is a link for the small bags amzn.to/3TCE5By (10x15) Hope that helps. If you decide to order a large amount (over 12 rolls) let me know and ill turn you on to a wholesaler but you have to buy large amounts. Merry Christmas!!!

    great video and lovely greenhouse. im starting mine back up after double knee surgery, and would love to grow some of the English cucumbers. may i ask where you got your seeds from. thanks

      @HomegrownPassion  9 месяцев назад +1

      So glad you are doing better. I know you will love being back in your greenhouse. The seeds were purchased from Johnny seeds. They were seeded in the Rapid Rooter pods. Oh, the variety is Poniente.

    Question on Strawberries: I've read they are partially self pollinating, but is there anything you do to enhance pollination?

    • @HomegrownPassion
      @HomegrownPassion  9 месяцев назад

      Yes wind. We let the sides down to pollinate or use fans and you will be fine

    Where do you recommend getting the materials for boxing and wrapping your harvest from?

    • @HomegrownPassion
      @HomegrownPassion  9 месяцев назад

      So plastic bags we buy online, and we had boxes made for the farm years ago. Still have some left from when we were delivering to grocery stores. We will probably not have them made again because we are using returnable totes now to deliver our produce.

    how do you set your fruit/vegies, since you do not have bees to do it for you, I am very interested in your reply, thank you so much and you have a wonderful Christmas

    • @HomegrownPassion
      @HomegrownPassion  9 месяцев назад

      Merry Christmas! So, except for the tomatoes everything is self-pollinating. ON the tomatoes we use an electric tooth brush every day on the flowers to pollinate. Thats all you have to do.

    Do you spray your cukes to treat powdery mildew?

    • @HomegrownPassion
      @HomegrownPassion  9 месяцев назад

      We don't. We really try to watch humidity. When it's cold we burp the greenhouse and if the sun comes out, we use a floor fan to increase air flow under the cukes. Removing the bottom growth on the cucumber plants make a huge difference. We are also not growing very much lettuce in the winter, more Asian greens so I think that helps as well.
