Your amazon links are broken for the tape. Are those 5mm and 10mm? Great video! My GS66-10SGS's screen decided to start crapping the bed recently. It has lines down the bottom 1/4 of the screen. Your video is really helpful. I should be getting my screen on Nov 16th. Will report back with how it went.
Yoh! Nice informative video, i have a question, or maybe a request, would you repeat the video but this time replacing the screen from the Stealth 16 Studio a13vg??? Maybe trying to upgrade the FHD screen (best buy model) to the QHD screen, it's basically the same model and chassis...
Is there any way to know if the cable or the screen itself is broken? I have exactly the same model and my screen stays black when turning the laptop on, but everything works perfectly fine with an external monitor. How do I know if I have to replace the screen or the cable that connects the screen to the motherboard? I opened up the laptop (backside) but can't see any damages.
I'm sorry to hear. I got a new screen, we tried to install it but it turned out that the cable was a bit bent and it did not stick to the new screen and even if attached, the new screen did not work. My assumption is that the cable caused problems - maybe got deformed/damaged due to the heat. I couldn't get a cable easily and disassembling to change the cable is a major undertaking. I finally got a new Lenovo Thinkpad P16 Gen 2 laptop and hope it works longer!!! It looks like a much more robust build.
I am gonna say one thing. You saved me. Is it possible if you could do a 40 PIN wire replacement video too? I don't know the true problem behind my black screen with the same MS-16V1 model, so I wanted to ask you if you know replacing the screen will most likely fix the problem.
Did you fixed the problem? I have a black screen on model GS 66 10SF and I don’t know if I have to order a new screen or if there is another way to fix the problem. Thanks in advance.
@@jehandalgonzalez2678 No I haven't yet as I will be getting my new screen on July 19thl;however, you should talk with a repair genie not me really because there are so many reasons why you could have a black screen. Worst case scenario your motherboard is dead.
@@Juanjemr1989 yeah i did. It wasn't hard to install the new LCD screen too so I did that by myself. I learned that if anything else than the screen went wrong, It should show up when you connect your laptop to a secondary monitor with HDMI. Otherwise, it's the screen
@@Juanjemr1989 yes it's highly likely that you are able to fix the screen blackout, but I also highly recommend testing if any other part of laptop is broken by connecting your laptop with secondary screen as if it doesn't work with secondary screen that you know for sure works, you might have to buy a new laptop
@ You should see how many pin connectors each panel has if 30 or 40 and if it coincide wiwth panel you have. There is also the option QHD for the GS&& which should better work and I think it should have same number of pin that 1080p. I am not sure the 4K would fit.
Yes but it's kinda tricky on SOME laptop it can be ok.... but there no way to know for sure which ones... and if you are wrong you fry your mobo so it's best just to just unplug it..I should know I've fried a few boards like that in the past....
MSI makes a big deal about how it's all machined aluminum but there's just a flimsy sticker that acts as the bezel. There's less holding the screen in place on this "premium" laptop than a cheap Toshiba from the mid 2000s.
Just finished. Perfect walk through

I’m having the same issue too. My screen just completely blacked out today 😭

What is both of the tape sizes
is it possible to replace my 4k 120hz panel to 1440p 240hz?

It is possible that the laptop get a shortcircuit if the battery still plug in while changing the screen?

I have a same model and it's hinge makes clicking sound while opening and closing lid....can it damage the whole screen in near future?
Sounds like the plastic is broken from the hinge.
Does anyone know if that screen model will fit a GS66 10SE model?

True that
I have a problem with this laptop, it only has dark images, only video with hdmi, this is the solution, then change the screen.
same thing here bro ....
Just wanted to throw in experience.
This is an absolute garbage laptop.
As a person who sent to get this display repaired the first time and replacing the display myself now, you are absolutely correct.
Well that customer is definitely getting their moneys worth out of that laptop lol dirty as shit and beat to hell, 2nd screen!? lol wow
worth the `1000 plus bucks lol
