I'm 59 years old retired, I've lived in both places and my opinion is that in The Philippines you could have a younger Girlfriend 20-30 years old (Arm candy) and don't have to go broke, but in Thailand, the girls that wants to deal with foreigners are more older like 30-45+ years old who already past their prime from their profession (the younger ones would really cost you ). In The Philippines, relationships is possible with women who are more genuine and family oriented., it seem in Thailand that life is faster and women are more about money money money and what you can do for her. So that's my humble opinion.

Outside of entertainment places, most Thais are conservative by nature, Thailand GDP is almost 2x more than The Philippines, food is a lot cheaper in Thailand because they are net exporter and The Philippines imports more than they export.

One thing visitors and expats notice about Thai people is that they are happy and friendly. And that is attributed to them doing what Paul suggested to his former self and that is to live in the moment. On the other hand that also frustrates expats who are so used to planning for the future.

I love Thailand 🇹🇭 I was married with Thai girl for 4 years but from what I heard in some ways Philippines is cheaper and easier, Thailand has things are not foreigners friendly like the visa situation is very limited; and the way that coming from government no matter if you live in Thailand as foreigner or you visit Thailand I can say almost always most of the time you will pay more, rent, taxis , in most of government places if not all , or national parks, temples, some entertainment places, some restaurants is two prices one for foreigners and one for Thai no matter if you live in Thailand or not, now if you are visiting only Thailand for a short period of time with money to spend that will not bother you much, but if you are retired and lives from a budget it will affects you for sure.

A lot of expats are heading to Cambodia, the best Visa regime in SEAsia. I have close friends in Sumatra, so Cambodia is my choice (re flying back) to Medan). I like the Philippines, but cost of flying back to Sumatra is not profitable for me. Even the visa scheme in Indonesia has become very expensive for retirees on a pension. The old social visit visa no longer exists. You have to get an B211A tourist business visa outside of Indonesia at AU$835 approximately, for 60 days, extendable 2×60 days @
AU$550 approximately each extention. But you can renew inside of Indonesia indefinitely ATM.
So, I would say regards visa options would 1/ Cambodia 2/ Philippines. 🎄👍

I need to find a place where I can walk most of the time. I know I could do it in Thailand, but I can't seem to find out much about The Philippines. Many of the Thai vloggers do walking tours where you can see everything. When I was there, there were probably 10 places for breakfast within a couple of blocks. A 7-11 every block. Lots of other resources within a short walk. Unfortunately, the heat and humidity were too much for me.

Thanks for having him your channel Ritchie as I was hanging for the old dog to travel to Thailand .
And finally he did , and I’m sure you would have loved spending time with him and learning a lot from his wisdom and his out look on life .

It's cheaper in Thailand. Rent for example in Bangkok vs Makati for something comparable in size, amenities, etc, shows you the evidence. I'm actually moving from Philippines to Thailand because it's still comparatively cheaper in Thailand. The reason I think is supply. Thailand is more developed and has more supply hence prices are cheaper.

Hi Ritchie, I enjoy all your videos along with Paul's, so it was nice seeing this collaboration. I agree with Paul having visited Pattaya Thailand for many years. The Thai immigration system is constantly changing the rules which can be extremely frustrating to someone who wants to plant roots and live in a country for many years. Also in Thailand they actually will throw you in jail or prison just for failing to report to immigration there every 2 months. That to me is crazy extreme and here in Mexico or the Philippines they wouldn't do that. Here in Mexico if you happen to overstay your FMM 6 month visa you would just pay a $40 dollar fine at the airport when you leave. The Thai government is being run for the past few years by a military junta and is also a monarchy. Many foreigners living or visiting there aren't even aware of that as well as the fact that they enforce the law of possibly being imprisoned for any criticism of the King or the Royal Family. It's not like living in the U.S. that's for sure.

With so many Filipinos here in Thailand, Have Babymae reach out to some and see how they work the visa issues. Here in the Hotel I am at, the front desk lady is from the Philippines and on occasion I have seen others from the Philippines come into the Hotel and chat with her. Maybe that angel will work.

I have only ever rode one in Englandon my way to an airport from my ship, and in airports, they are more or less irrelevant. The airports are to be expected with all the Chinese tourists, and tourists in general.
All and all, you people continuously talk in current not understanding how much is underway in PH currently, Thailand should have decades worth of headstart in infrastructure anyway being that as people brag so much about of never being colonized, no wars, no typhoons, no earthquakes, no volcanic erruptions.

Everyone said that Costa Rica was an inexpensive and great place to retire. I went there on several vacations and I have to say that though it was relatively impoverished socially and economically, it was far from inexpensive. It was as expensive as the USA and often times even more. Friendly? Well, not particularly unfriendly. I wouldn't call it friendly either. You certainly have to keep an eye on your belongings and you can NOT leave anything in your hotel room and expect it to be there when you get back.

"Everyone said that Costa Rica was an inexpensive and great place to retire." This was absolutely true in 1990. Like most everything else in life, it's all about the timing. Try Panama, I think it's what you're looking for.

@@biff9999 Went to Panama. Stayed there for only a few months. It was easy because they use the American dollar. Not really a place to LIVE, per se. Just a place to go and visit. I DID get a tour of viejo (old town) which was nice - but dangerous. Needed a body guard. Got good pix though.

@@biff9999 In all seriousness, Ecuador is a consideration. I would love to travel to Vietnam and perhaps areas of Asia to include Thailand. I believe the Asian culture is much more entertaining and culturally different than my experiences in central and south America. I want to stay safe but not blow out the bank. (I tend to take the back roads). Usually when I have traveled in the past, I prefer to stay in a country for 90 days before moving on. I think that's the best way to truly integrate with the surroundings. I would appreciate your suggestions. I've done an economic spreadsheet and it helps to put things into perspective. So, please feel free to suggest.

      @biff9999 Год назад

@@Jubal.Harshaw Well, coincidentally, I have also done years of due diligence regarding retirement in Latin America and Europe. Even more coincidentally, Ecuador is currently (changes occur as I get new information) in my Top 3 possibilities. Again, this is now, it could be a different list later.
Portugal: Easy retirement visa, great food, great people, easy citizenship requirements, excellent medical, excellent infrastructure, not cheap but not expensive, part of the EU, but you have to become fairly fluent in Portuguese, no doubt about that.
Uruguay: Very easy visa requirements, easily the safest country below the United States, stable economy, great people, very good healthcare, weed is legal if that is something you're interested in, very European in outlook. You absolutely must learn Spanish, and it's more expensive to live here than any other country in South America. Still a little less than Portugal, though.
Ecuador: By far the cheapest place to live on this list, OK to good healthcare, fair amount of petty crime, great people, great food, cheap real estate, beautiful country, good infrastructure, resident visas (including the pensionado visa for retirees) are very low-priced and easy to get. Almost no one speaks English here, so learning Spanish is a definite. My wife is a Pinay, and Ecuador is one of the few countries in the Western Hemisphere that allows Phillipine nationals in to visit visa-free, so my wife's family could visit, so that's a plus.
      So, that's that.
Southeast Asia would be Malaysia or Thailand......
