I must admit I watched this bc we share the same name..but also I,like many others have been sexuallly ,emotionally and physically abused. I agree that it needs to be addressed. Suppressing it can be dangerous to one's self. After yrs off self hate and holding on to the past,which kept on having a impact in my day to day life... i hit rock bottom ..HARD! I then knew I had to seek help..and fast. I was fortunate enough to find a therapist I could trust and build a connection with. I went in full force ..i was no longer going to be a victim of this experience. Most of all I wasn't going to allow it to control me ..i needed to release the fear,mistrust in men,the worthlessness, the anxiety, the self hate ,the thought "I deserved it" and the control this situation had on me for many yrs. It was a rough journey facing it and reliving it..but it had to be done. But finally I was able to shift from victim to the strong, confident man I am today..mostly I was now free. This experience had no control over me,I had total control of it. I still to this day see the person who did this to me..as he is a family member( my family also know what he did) but chose to brush it under the carpet. Which hurt me more than the abuse. However i stood up,grabbed the bull by the horns and solidered on. So I really hope that others out there who went through such a traumatic time and are struggling with it,can see their worth and seek professional help...so they are able to take back their power and fianlly start living again.
I came across your video quite by accident. It was hard to watch because it hit so close to home. You spoke many of my own truths. You’re experience carries a lot of meaning for those who still need to face the past head-on and stop letting the bad have power over them. I’m just now starting this journey. I’m watching others tell their story, gay and straight, so I can find courage, of which I have none at the moment. I’m so torn up over my experiences and angry and confused and broken and hurting and I’m unsure if my sexuality was dictated by my experiences... it’s so f-ing confusing. My parents didn’t protect me. The relative consistently hurt me to the point it became, what I thought, was normal. I want to scream. After I came out, I was kicked out of home and my church at 16. I was free from the abuse but faced a whole new set of problems. Is their a time when it’s wrong to seek guidance? I feel like it’s my fault a lot. I’m really confused. Your story really is difficult however, your sharing what you felt... hurts me because I know how it feels and that makes me angry that you, or anyone, had to face this and will for for life. Stay strong. Seek trusting individuals and let them in. Ask for help. Take your power back. I know, it’s so easy to tell someone else to be strong and to open up but, for me, I’m scared.
I know how you feel I was raped it started when I was around 4or 5 years old and it is hard I have been through a lot growing up and decided to pray and God has helped me I am 50 now and it's still hard but be strong you are not alone
What happened to you was totally wrong. There's nothing wrong with *you*, you are a victim and a survivor (I increasingly use "survivor" for my own experience). Congratulations on having the courage and bravery to confront it and to use it to help others.
Any time there is a difference in age, experience or level of authority there is a large potential for someone to be hurt. Bringing it up, talking about it is sometimes is like being stabbed over and over but it's actually sort of like a splinter .. you CAN work it out if you get some therapy, supportive friends or a partner who can help you make some decent memories. A lot more people have faced this than you might think, you aren't alone, it's not your fault. It is possible to heal. You are a part of creation worthy of love, dignity and respect as any other.
I had to stop watching this half way through because it reminded me of when my dad got really pissed at my mum and her shouted at us and said something that your parents wouldn't want you to know. About how my mum had been raped 5 years before I was born 😭😭😭 this broke my heart. And although I am religious and should not be saying this i think the sickos that do this should fit in hell. I'm so sorry this happened to you 😭😭😭

I was a little older but it was just as aweful. Our last night in town we got a Motel Room. I went to bed early cuz I work with the Capt on the bridge. I had to leave door open, friends still out. I woke up to a guy having Sex with me..I knocked him off me and he ran to the door. Goodthing he got away i would be in Jail for murder. Now what, I cant tell anyone I will be lableled Gay. I was definately 100% Straight. I put it away. Last fall i was stuck in a late Hurricane in South Carolina. We lost my car. Floated away. Me and my cousin walk to a fishing cabin to get out of the rain. The next day a couple with a kid and old lady walk up. I swear this was the guy..it wasnt, too young. Around Christmas I had some kind of emotional breakdown. I was in and out of VA Pysch Ward 4 times . Im actually suicidal over what this guy did to me. The weird thing is slowly after I was molested I thought i was bi. I dated guys. Now Im into just guys. How does that happen?..
Maybe you weren't straight, you were probably too vulnerable to admit it because you didn't enjoy what happened and the specific gender that did it to you. You wanted to get away from the event. I never experienced this but I do have an open mind and eye on horrible events like this.
Being sexually assaulted by another guy doesn't make you "gay": it makes you a victim of sexual assault. There are guys who do sexually assault other guys. What happened to you doesn't have anything to do with your sexual orientation: you're a straight guy who was sexually assaulted by another male. If you were a lesbian woman who was sexually assaulted by a man, you wouldn't be straight: you'd be a lesbian who was sexually assaulted by a man (and it does happen, by men who think they can "turn" a lesbian into a heterosexual by forcing themselves on her).

I know a 16 year old boy has been sexually abused for 8 years by countless men. I'm trying to get him to realize that he is a victim but he's not even close to that point. He is now a prostite and run from home last week. I don't know him that well and I have no idea what to say to him. I was having sex with adults when I was 16. My friends started at 14 years. But this boy was a small child when he's friends father started to abuse him. I have no idea how to deal with all this
Sorry, But I believe that your real sexual abuse started way earlier than that, and probably at home. Either you suppressed it or you’re In denial. It’s been my experience that rape or any other sexual abuse experienced by strangers was not the victim’s first experience. Predators have a tendency to SMELL or detect somehow their victims. Most sexually abused victims are incapable of reporting or exposing their real predators at home because they were made believe that they participated or contributed to the abuse. But parent-pedophiles are the ones abusing their children in the name of love. If this happened to you before you were violated, you will never heal emotionally until you face the complete truth. Be brave!

It's my honest opinion that a significant portion of, if not the majority of, the detrimental effects this had on you are a result of how society treats sexually, particularly when it comes to minors, rather than those effects being intrinsic to the experience. People say minors are too easily influenced to consent but the more true that is, the more impactful the stigma proliferated by society is on how they conceptualise their romantic liaisons (coerced or otherwise). 15 year olds "stroke the monkey" and in the UK more than a third have actually lost their v before they're 16 (Godeau et al., 2008, Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine, 162(1), 66-73). Obviously there are plenty of genuine rapes and without knowing the specifics of your situation I can't have an informed opinion on the level of coercion involved, though I'm commenting as above because I dislike the tendency to attribute an absolute degree of malevolence to the alleged perpetrator by default in these cases (not necessarily by you as that doesn't seem to be your emphasis).

Sorry, But I believe that your real sexual abuse started way earlier than that, and probably at home. Either you suppressed it or you’re In denial. It’s been my experience that rape or any other sexual abuse experienced by strangers was not the victim’s first experience. Predators have a tendency to SMELL or detect somehow their victims. Most sexually abused victims are incapable of reporting or exposing their real predators at home because they were made believe that they participated or contributed to the abuse. But parent-pedophiles are the ones abusing their children in the name of love. If this happened to you before you were violated, you will never heal emotionally until you face the complete truth.
