- Spent a couple days at the cabin working on front door trim and finishing the door itself. Just need to add some weather stripping now.
Weather was cold enough to light wood stove and have first fire in cabin. Good news is the chimney and stove pipe works great and I didn’t burn the cabin down.
Worked on wood flooring as well.

Wanted to say, the stone work behind the stove really turned out nice. Everything really is looking good.
Thanks. Didn't know what to expect but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Take care!
Fab work! The simplicity, following of safety rules, all nicely done. Congrats. Can't wait to see the finished product!

I recently found your channel and I'm watching through your build series. Ingenious idea for the 2x8 logs! Can't wait to see more.
Welcome aboard!
Great build! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks!
Watched your video while I was waiting for the Georgia results to come in. Timing was perfect, lol. Another great video. Thanks.
Thanks. Hope the results are good!
@@TheOffGridExperience I'm just a tourist. I'm a Canadian, lol. But it looks like it will be a nail biter, lol.
Must be a great feeling having the first fire inside.............you should be proud!!
Hard to believe it's been about a year since breaking ground to first fire. A little blood and a lot of sweat in between the two.
Take care!
Man oh man, what a wonderful job you’ve done so for, looking forward too more! Love the cabin. Love your content.
Thanks for the feedback. More on the way! Take care!
I found this series and binge watched every episode over two working days. I am enthralled. What an experience. Thank you so much for sharing it.
Ditto..just found it a few days ago. Live in Chicago but was raised in Nashville & missing my Tennessee Christmas & woods.
Thanks for watching! Glad you found the channel. Lots more on the way. Take care!
I did the same a few weeks ago. I've always wanted to build a cabin the same method. I had a design I drew up with that idea about ten years ago, and looks like this spring it'll become a reality. My wife and I may even document it as well.
@@reelmatthewswinslow would love to see someone else build with this method.
Ein Traum Waldhaus, märchenhaft 😍👏👍❤
Thank you!
sorta puts ya in mind of the old time country stores,,now im looking for the penny candy,,lol..
I love those kind of stores. Thanks for watching!
Another great video. I hated to see it end. Can't wait for the next one. You do amazing work.
Thanks again!
Hit that like button folks. It's the least you can do for such great content.

i love this cabin
Thanks for the comment!
Sei veramente un artista!! Ti ammiro moltissimo
Thank you!
I love how you "antique" the wood with the torch ! Gets rid of that woolmanized pine smell too !
Thanks for the comment! Take care amd Happy New Year!
Nooooooo, its over. Once again another awesome video. I closed my eyes when you lit the fire. The crackling sound took me back to my Grandmother's home. I would sit quietly for hours and just stare into the fire, mesmerized by the soft crackling sound and the dancing flames. Such a great time filled with awesome memories. And what you can achieve color wise with a flame thrower is nothing less than Beautiful. I am a visual person. I was an art major years ago and the combo of your lighting and the rich warm hues of your interior really transports me. Great job! Your woodworking skills speak for themselves.....very loudly. Nice touch the rocker on the front porch. Cheers my Friend!!
There's few things in life as relaxing and satisfying as sitting in front of a wood stove feeling the warmth, hearing the crackle and looking at the flames dance. Hopefully folks get a glimpse of it thru these videos. Thanks again and take care!!
That's a sharp looking cabin👍👍👌
Thank you. It's getting there. Take care!
Looks very warm inside
Bravo! Love it!!
Thanks for watching!
A very original off grid place, burning timber makes the place older. I love your videos just found about your channel two weeks ago, I hope more people will discover your excellent work. Thank you for sharing. Cheers.😊 from Australia

I’m sure you will be building a wood rack for your inside fire wood if you haven’t already. Wonderful workmanship. Love your videos. 🙋🏻🇨🇦

So glad to have found this channel - we bought a 62 acre island a few months ago! We are on the lake and it is shoulder to shoulder trees! The most exciting adventure of our lives! I will subscribe to your channel and follow your progress... we have much to learn!

It was a good way to celebrate the progress. Take care!
Nice cabin.
Thank you!
Fabulous
Thank you!
I enjoy your cabin build.
Thanks for watching! New video out this morning.
Take care!
Place is looking good! Get some oil on those floors though, stops making everything that touches it turn black. Linseed oil, mineral oil, even wood polish. Get it sealed though, you'll be glad you did, no kidding.
Will definitely put some type of finish on them. I wire brushed most of the char off so that will help.
Take care!
I'm loving the cabin. When can I move in. Haha
Haha...I need to move in first.
@@TheOffGridExperience it is beautiful. I've enjoyed watching it all come together.
Read a great book called, Off The Grid by Claire Fields recently. Thought I would share with my armchair homesteading peeps. Check it out!
Thanks for sharing.
Which episode is it that you catch the cabin on fire with your torch ❓. Just kiddin . Looks great ‼️
Probably upcoming episode ....haha.
Thank you for sharing the talent God has blessed you with to create a beautifully crafted cabin.
p.s. nice to see your fire extinguisher near by.
Thanks for watching. I never installed a chimney and stove pipe before so wanted to make sure I had one ready just in case...lol.
Found your videos. Awesome cabin
Glad you found them. Thanks for watching!
I like everything in this cabin. It looks small outside but it's actually big
Thanks. It is just that.
I love the flame application on the exterior, but am not in love with it inside. I would like a brighter interior. But that’s just me, I still love the build.
Thanks 👍
Absolutely beautiful!
Thank you!
Just in time for winter. Heat, at last. Lol 🙂
It was pretty cold this past weekend and now it's back up to 60's again...lol.
Take care!
How do the barn doors seal against the weather? Love your cabin and your channel. By the way, I have a cabin in Seven Devils, NC. Cheers
Thanks👍 Went snow tubing at Hawks Nest a couple years ago. Great spot!
You're back and here I am. First comment. Hurrah! Oooo sliding doors. Cool! What fabulous grain on those floor boards. Are you going to urethane them? I just dare any bug to take a bite out of all that Shou Sugi Ban. lol
Thanks for the comment! I'm probably going to put a light urethane on them once I get the color uniform thru out. Take care!!
Estupendo me encanta
Thanks! 👍
You doing a wonderful job on your cabin Rosa
Thank you!
This is a great build! Such a great remoteness to it. The work is awesome!
It is extremely peaceful out there. Take care!
the cabin looks good, when you gone show me round 😝
Haha...maybe when it's finished.
@@TheOffGridExperience can’t wait for the finished product!!
Awesome video love your cabin!
Thank you!
IM wondering how your going to seal the back doors from wind and weather, can't 'wait lookin good
I'm going to put a canvas up behind the barn doors at night but will need access to the bedroom addition thru those doors.
He plans to build off from that opening
Thanks for asking, I was wondering the same question. This cabin is awesome!
👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks!
Good progress this week. Thanks for sharing. Tell me, what is the theory about the burning/scorching of the wood? Is the flame closing the pores of the wood thus preventing water infiltration? How long will the benefit last? Do you have to re-scorch it every couple years? Greetings from Texas....John B.
It's supposed to preserve wood much better on exterior. Once I put chinking on I won't be able to burn it again. May look at some type of natural sealer.
Thanks for the comment!
also is there glass behind the large doors???? could be drafty if not!!!
It’s doors to an addition I have started. Those doors aren’t exterior doors. They will be temporarily.
You’ve done well! I love your cabin!
Thanks again!
You sure know how to create an interesting video. Your cabin build is fantastic. The glued and screwed walls are a great idea, gotta be strong and long lasting. Take care my friend, and keep on pushing the show. A new subscriber, Iowa
Thanks. It's worked out really well building the way. Take care!
Every episode is a piece of fine art. How do you keep the work site so darn clean? I'm mesmerized in Minnesota. So glad your YT channel came up in my feed. Love it!
Haha...I don't know about clean. The right back corner is a pile of all my junk. Glad you found the channel. Take care!
@@TheOffGridExperience You've got the 3 C's for talent and knowledge: Carpentry, Cooking, and Cleaning. I completely lack the carpentry skills, and fully appreciate your filming and editing, focusing on crafting your cabin.
Have you had any moisture issues on the inside of your 2x8 log walls? Im going to build a 12'x24' shed roof cabin in Arkansas.
Nothing yet. I haven't even chinked it yet either so that's a good sign.
@@TheOffGridExperience
Yes that’s awesome. My wife and I are excited to try the homemade logs like yours
@Robert Black I'd love to see pics when it's done. Just make sure you have a good overhang on the roof and you shouldn't have any water problems along with burning the boards and chinking.
Tolle Arbeit, aber bei den Fensterläden warst du dir nicht einig, draußen oder drinnen 😉
Thanks for watching!
for what reason do you burn the wood for aesthetics or protection???
Inside it’s for aesthetics, outside it’s for protection and a much heavier burn.
❤😊❤😊❤
👍👍
Do you build in other states by any chance? I’ve got land just haven’t found a builder.
Hi, you probably want someone with a little more experience than me since this is my first cabin. I probably still have about 2-3 more years of work/projects still to do on this land also. I appreciate the interest though and thanks for watching. Good luck with your build!
Look for Amish you find some build
The old school way I use to have a portable sawmill n I wood lend it out for them build house n barns for newlyweds thay cut me as mene bord feet as thay cut for them self n insisted I come for the raise n I could hardly walk afterwards the feed me so well n there workmanship wus so good
Alot of my family n me were carpenters
Hope find some one to help
Thank you for the replies 🙂
@@TheOffGridExperience ok thank you and it really turned out so beautiful! Great job 😊
@@CabinGRL Thank you!
What is the meaning of Acqua Della Roccia?
It's Italian for "Water of the Rock". That's what I named the property for its many rock bed creeks, hills and Psalm 18:2.
You need some chair pads for your rocking chair
Yes. Planning on it for both rockers and bench in kitchen.
Love the barn doors. Moving right along. Just wondering if your going to put some kind of sealant on the cabin, inside and out?
Probably not initially. The burn should protect the outside. On the inside I'm probably just going to put a light finish on floors.
Take care!!
off the grid james
😁
i love the clothes you wear just great
im always amazed at how men just love doing this ..building a cabin cooking over an open fire outside washing in the stream...what is it all about ????? but also I want to do this as well ...am I wierd? cos im a woman.. i think its something to do with getting back to the simple life because we have all gone too far!!!!
I just installed my spark2. I can’t seem to see much difference in where I move the damper handle. Do you have the same problem?
It's been awhile since I've used it but I don't remember having that problem. Air flow seemed to be easy to regulate with damper.
@@TheOffGridExperience I will have to contact Drolet. If I leave the door open for 20 min or so and let it get going good before shutting,it works just fine. The damper handle just doesn’t seem to do much.
I always leave the door open to get the fire going. Once it's a good flame, then I close it. I do leave it on a crack sometimes as well to let air in.
If you are drinking a clear liquid out of a mason jar in Tennessee I would think it was moonshine
Haha....I can neither confirm nor deny.
I thought the same thing
As well built as this cabin is built, it will be here till Jesus comes back.
I sure hope so. Thanks for the comment 👍
What model stove do you have?
Drolet Spark II. Really nice stove.
@@TheOffGridExperience Thank you.
why did you make everthing so dark inside the room ?
Plenty of light with all the windows. You'll see in later episodes. Thanks for watching 👍
Where is about?
?
Oh , in Nashville
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
👍👍 Thanks!
But there is no place to shower.
There will be. Just hadn't gotten to it yet.
Thanks for watching!
Really, a sliding door to the outside you will never keep it warm because you will
never make the door draught proof. whoops.
You must be new to the channel...
are you going to live there...do you have a family...do you live nearby...is it your land ....will you family live with you there ...do you have children i noticed you had a dad mug ...
It will be a weekend/part time getaway for me and my family. I’m married with a few kids. Once they are out of the house I’ll be spending a lot more time here.
Thanks for watching!
