    • @speelbergo
      @speelbergo 4 года назад

      doesn't Tim just play right handed guitars upside-down?

    • @billycjustice
      @billycjustice 4 года назад +1

      @speelbergo when he's played his signature Fender, I'd only seen him with a left handed version. A lefty playing a right handed guitar upside down is NOT a special thing a lefty does...it s what a lefty gets stuck doing. Dont think they wouldn't take a lefty first. Then you got guys like Doyle Bramhall II that plays left handed with a lefty or he can just flip a righty over and play without any reconfiguration whatsoever...impressive.

    • @allstopblue5717
      @allstopblue5717 4 года назад

      Who will buy it? They are a business after all. Not enough left handed players to warrant special models all the time

    • @tricktaylor1983

      Right? I have the deluxe model in black and had to have the saddle slot recarved which is not cheap. I owned the regular hellcat prior and liked it enough to get the deluxe when i lost the hellcat. But i was shocked to see the black model only righty. Well not shocked cuz as you seem to know already us lefties get shafted in the guitar world. I got a really good deal on it cuz it was used and didnt come with the case that the deluxe was sold with or the leather lets go strap. The soundhole pickup on the deluxe is my only complaint as it seems a step down from the the regular hellcat. The deluxe was $100 more and included the same $99 case fender sells on the side for the hellcat so i guess they had to save money somewhere and the pick-ups took the fall.

    I owned the original natural mahogany hellcat and because im left handed i didnt have alot of options other than artist models who are lefty themselves(i also own the cobain mustang and jaguar) or very simple plain beginner type guitar models. Then i moved across the country & put my hellcat in storage and lost it a year later to auction when i couldnt pay for the unit anymore.
    In the meantime i "upgraded" to the deluxe model in satin black which i had to have the bridge, saddle and nut modified because though tim himself is lefty the deluxe in black was not available lefthanded, now other than the pickguard mine is the only black lefty deluxe out there. I like the deluxe better overall but i think the electronics on the deluxe are a step down from the hellcats, though the soundhole pickup on the deluxe is more in line with tim armstrongs personal model that both guitars are modeled after. I never liked the fret markers on the hellcat. Not a huge deal but i thought they made it look like a cheap toy, which it is not. And like the pickup the deluxe has normal dots on the frets which are the same as Armstrongs actual guitar.
    I dont like the gold on this anniversary one or the pickguard which i guess is supposed to be gold too. And the shiny black with the white binding doesnt do it for me like the flatblack and no biding on the deluxe model which has silver metal not gold does.
    The deluxe and hellcat are identical guitars minus the pickups, fretmarkers and real bone nut and saddle. The duluxe can be had for $100 more and includes a case that Fender sells on the side for the hellcat for $99. Only difference is the lining of the deluxe case is gold vs the regular which is black.
    Kind of odd marketing but i guess they sold enough of these to decide to make a deluxe model and now a tenth anniversary model, not to mention all the other colors theyve released the hellcat in over the years, white, black, green, red, checkerboard... the deluxe was available in only mahogany at first but then also in flat satin black later, although only in righty models. I dont think any of the hellcats in different colors are available in lefty models. Kind of a slap in the face to the man himself, who is left-handed and had to like me, modify his model to be played that way.
    Im a fan of this concert size. I used to have only dreadnoughts ans and jumbos and was turned off to smaller sized acoustics but now that i have one i really like them. Very easy to pick up and play. Mine hangs right next to a much more expensive Martin D18 and i pick it up to play more often than i do the Martin. Its really nice to fingerpick with. Theres really not a genre that sounds bad on it. If youre thinking about getting one go for it.

      Hi! Thank you very much for your review. I am just learning to play the guitar and also a lefty like you. Since you also mentioned; it's been a really hard decision for me to choose and buy an acoustic guitar(especially for left-handed people like me since there aren't many choices to choose from) with reasonable price, but after reading your comment, I am hooked on this guitar and I will buy it asap. I cannot thank you enough for making up my mind. Cheers

    Love this guitar! Just bought it an honestly can’t put it down! Btw, make sure you check one out and play before you pay. Quality control issues with sharp frets on some I’ve played at the store. Luckily I found one that was near perfect. Has a kinda high action but most likely will have that fixed with a setup by a local guy here. Other wise great guitar plugged in too. Using an acoustic amp and a fender acoustic amp too both sound really good.

    I've had my original mahogany model with a rosewood board for about 3.5 years now and I love it, I've played the crap out of it and will continue. I do like it better than this - not a fan of the spruce top, walnut board, or gold hardware. It's a cool guitar though.

    Nobody has EVER gone to a Rancid concert to listen to the nuances of the tone-wood and fucking range of mids and lows. Just strum the fucking thing and blast out some punk rock with it!! It's a beater, so strum it hard and leave the fingering until the after-party.

    Guitar does not sound very rich or have a lot of sustain. Maybe with it would get better with age. Guitar would look better with dots on the neck instead of the skull/Hellcat inlays. I'm a punk rocker, but have always thought the inlays looked terrible. I don't want to rep Rancid or Tim's Hellcat record label. Not every punk likes skulls, mohawks, studded jackets, or cliche punk stuff.
