    Hey One Life. Great video content. Very sorry about your drone taking a salt bath. The underwater video was awesome. Cool ole ship wreck. Clear blue water 👍. Thanks for your efforts in helping clean up the plastic. I’ve taken on a new appreciation for reusable containers and such since subscribing to your channel. Thank you!!! I really love your channel, I’ve learned a ton since I started watching it. Just a comment on the Panama situation. I’ve been to Panama a number of times and my daughter actually lived there for several years. I found the trash problem to be alarming. Littering does not seem to be something that is enforced or even really thought about, and I’ve seen the results of that everywhere. I hope that they begin to affect some change in terms of that. It is such a beautiful country 🇵🇦

    • @SailingOneLife
      @SailingOneLife  3 года назад +1

      Hi Morna! Thank you! Very cool that your daughter used to live in Panama. We see our trash problem everywhere but Panama has been an extreme example of how bad it is. 😥

  • @vwatters
    @vwatters 2 месяца назад

    I lived in Panama in 1995- 1996 and visited the Sab Blas Islands for a long holiday over the New Year and there was a lot of trash in the water then. Some of which I was told sort of drifted there with current and would come from shore during the rainy season. Trash was much worse in Bocas del Torro.

    Unlimited 3G data..WOW..3G. LOL, we have faster data over here in the Middle East where I'm deployed. Just a fun poke, that that area ought to have 4G by now. Also, I noticed in one of your shots that you moved the boom out of the way of your solar !. Good for you. You would not believe how many channels I watch where they are at anchor and have there boom casting shadows on their panels. Great video guys !

    • @SailingOneLife
      @SailingOneLife  3 года назад +1

      There is some 4G coverage around here, but service is very spotty out in the islands. Sometimes it's nice to have no data service at all, forces us to disconnect from the digital world and really soak in what's around us. Where are you deployed to currently?
      Even the slightest bit of shading makes a huge difference in solar production. Tedious work moving the boom side to side as the sun and boat moves, but worth the effort!

Good on you for collecting some ocean trash and highlighting it being so bad these days. Thats pretty good price for unlimited data. Was there a hotspot restriction on that like they have in the US or not? I only seen that in the USA.
    I dont think the trash comes from the sailing community. Usually, cruisers care about the nature they want to experiance. However there is a lot of people that dont know better that drop trash wherever they go.

    • @SailingOneLife
      @SailingOneLife  2 года назад

      It's a great price for data! One of the cheapest we've come across! We agree, we don't believe the trash comes from the sailing community. Since this video we've done a bit of research on the trash problem in Panama. Seems it's a little bit of a mix between a poorly run government and people just not caring or understanding the consequences.

      We use our GoPro's for the majority of our filming. We left with a HERO8 but just got a new HERO10 too. We also have a Canon 800D that we use for vlogging and wildlife shots. The drone is a Mavic Air (the original one.) We don't have anything extraordinarily fancy or expensive, but it gets the job done! Maybe we will run into you on the Pacific side next year!

  • @salgiron

    Great video as usual. Unfortunately, the trash issue, is mainly due to two factors: Lazy sailors and dishonest locals. You will experience locals rowing their balsas over your boat, offering fruits, fish and even clothing for sale. While this is perfectly normal, most of these merchants will also offer to dispose of your trash for a minimal fee, usually a couple of bucks. While it may seem convenient, what truly happens is that they will carry your trash away and illegally dump it in one of the many small, uninhibited islands within the vicinity. It's the fastest way to make a buck. This has become a major problem for Panama . You will see trash floating after every rain storm. It sucks.

    • @SailingOneLife
      @SailingOneLife  3 года назад +1

      Thanks, Sal! Ugh it's so sad but you are right most 'boat guys' willing to take your trash for a couple bucks just dump it somewhere. 😭😭

I am hard of hearing and when gary was explaining what happened to the drone I couldn't make out what he was saying because the background music was so loud. Love the channel, I grew up sailing on my dad's boats.
