- Cancelling video games is an unfortunate reality and decision that a lot of publishers often have to make. There are hundreds, even thousands of projects that were started and never got the chance at a commercial release. Ever since the launch of the original PlayStation in 1994, there were a lot of planned (and announced) exclusives coming to Sony hardware that met this fate. Today we're going to take a look at 16 of these games, hear their stories, and spend time wishing we could play the final product. Video games - gone, but not forgotten. Thanks INTERNET.

According to Wikipedia, Singstar had collectively sold 17.5m copies worldwide and over 4 million downloaded songs.

Don't give up hope Final Fntasy Versus (ffxv ((Verum REx))), Shenmue 3 and Duke Nukem Forever were all created in some way eventually. Just a matter of time for anything else as well.
At least we are getting 007 by the creators of hitman.

Road to Sunday sounds freaking amazing. Sounds like a sports game mixed with a poker game mixed with Def Jam. I'd play the shit out of that, sign me up.

Thrill Kill is STILL my favorite fighter on the original PlayStation console. I still own the early Beta proto, and the Final "Gone Gold" version of Thrill Kill.
I used to play this game with friends on weekends, when not playing SOCOM. I loved this game so much, that I used the game name as my PSN Username.
The game was so well done that even watching the games "credits" is enjoyable, accompanied with a kickass soundtrack
The closest thing to eight days gameplay and animation wise is Uncharted 4 if I'm honest.

@@generalbutz8477 Many things were Killzone 2, Motorstorm, ... but atleast Killzone 2 and Uncharted Drake's fortune delivered.
I was excited for deep down. I thought it would be the training wheels for Capcom to bring monster hunter to that generation of consoles but after hearing nothing about it, I didn’t think it would happen until MH World was announced.
I don't understand why companies and developers don't like to talk about cancelled games and why they did it. Its fascinating to hear about what went on.
Because there's no money to be made in talking about canned games. Also they think it reflects badly on them, they think buyers will say "Well if blah never came out then why should we think their new game will ever arrive?"
I'm glad to see Eyedentify, sometimes I feel I'm the only one who remembers it.
Still sad we haven't had a new Silent Hill game 😢

The Bioshock Vita exclusive never materializing was a real blow to an already failing handheld. Never heard of the TES or Saints Row PSP games!

there was also monster hunter 3 announced for ps3 before being canceled and released only for wii. they than ported portable 3rd HD to ps3, and canceled that release too in the west. mh3 was canceled twice for ps3 xD

Polyphony also had a canceled project called Gran Turismo HD Classic which was a project to bring all of the content from Gran Turismo 1 to 4 back into one game. The project ended up becoming Gran Turismo HD Concept which became one of the earlier builds of Gran Turismo 5 prior to the release of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. This would have been released for the PS3.
It was fun to see that I knew maybe 40% of these, but those old PS1 titles were over my head. Always bringing us the quality content, Ryan. Thanks as always.

I still need to take a deep breath every time I hear about Silent Hills. I remember loving PT so much, shame I deleted it.
Same. I upgraded my internal hdd and was unable to redownload it. Forgot what I used my 500gb drive for but I wiped it and converted it into an external. At the time ps4 didn't support external drives. If they did I would have left the original 500 gb in the system and just bought a 2Tb external smh. Man I messed up.
If you downloaded it before then you can still re-download it from your digital library. There's a way to do that. I redownloaded not long ago.
LBP HUB was heavily implied to be spun into LBP 3. The DLC for 3 was directly from the teaser for HUB. Whether it was consolidated or rebranded though is anyone's guess.

There will be another horror-game by Kojima, though... Look at it this way; It's better to give Hideo free reign over the material than to have it "based on" something. - I know he could still have done anything with Silent HillS, considering it would be like a reboot, but still, it's not a huge loss as there will be another possibly even better horror-game. It's more like a loss for the Silent Hill franchise (and I see you're a fan, so that's a pity). - Also, I'm sad that Guillermo Del Toro is unlikely to re-join, as he was so put off (by the treatment in the industry) that he claimed he would never work on another videogame again. - This coming from someone who knows the movie-industry... - Then again, he did have an acting-role in 'Death Stranding', so maybe, if necessary, Kojima could convince him.
Surprised that Gnomageddon isn't on this list. It was a PS4 exclusive being developed by the non-MLB side of Sony San Diego, before it was cancelled in 2016 after the failure of their other game, Kill Strain
I remember playing a ripped version of thrill kill on a moded ps1. That stuff was so brutal back in the day. Good times.

I remember 989 studios. They made fun games like syphon filter and of course sports games.
Man, I still remember following the development of Warriors Lair and Heroes of Ruin on 3DS very closely and remember I was really excited about playing both. Glad to have been able to experience Heroes of Ruin at least but would have loved to have been able to try Warriors Lair as well.

Most of these games have so much more appeal than what we get now. Games like Agent, Getaway 3 and silent hills. All we have now are the same games like Returnal, that make me want to go to sleep just looking at the gameplay.

One game a was hyped about back then was „Redwood Falls“ for PS3. The USP were the gore effects

I played Thrill Kill 4-player on my Playstation so much the burnt disc got scratched until it didn't work. It was so much fun as 12-year old.

I played Thrill Kill back in days and it was amazing and brutality violent and not all characters had end animation.

I was looking forward to Agent. I remember playing its Facebook companion game to death, back when Facebook still had games. I also remember when they made that Resident Evil Portable announcement. I was so hyped for that
But out of all of these, I think I was most disappointed by Bioshock Vita. We all thought that it was a sign of a bright future ahead for the Vita. Ah those hopeful days... 😞

God I really hope Project Awakening doesn't turn out to be one of these in the future. I know they updated it saying they're still working on that project , but man after seeing these remarks on some devs saying , " don't worry guys it's coming , we're working on it , it's going well " then bam gone for good , I don't know . That game looks so freaking amazing. I hope we see a light at the end of that tunnel. Hopefully the flame doesn't burn out for that team . Cy Games I hope you continue 😁👍

A game that gets put to the side "because of the potential of EyePet" is not going to see the light of day even in a parallel universe. "Yes, there will be an 8k video format coming out, but with the potential of recording your own tv programs on Betamax, we need to put our resources where our strengths are".
