Seriously. When he first started manipulating the wolf I went from, “Okay, but that’s a really angular mouth. It will never work.” to, “That’s the best wolf drawing I have ever seen.” At the end. I have so. much. to learn.
Couldn't avoid thinking that it must be really difficult to be painting over other people's art for the sake of education, but still staying mindful of not hurting the feelings of the artists. I really commend you on your pedagogical skills in doing this. edit: especially with an audience that might interpret your changes in any number of ways. Good job.
People aren't gonna get hurt by something they submitted themselves , especially this one where all of the submitted arts where from people who is ready to accept all the criticism they can take from a pro.

I do agree that people who send in their art are prepared for criticism and thus more resilient to it, but that doesn't mean that Sinix would be inable to hurt their feelings if he completely bashed their art, right? I think people hand in their pieces, trusting that Sinix will critcise them constructively and professionally. And I think those are still some noteworthy expectations to have to live up to.

I am starting to do paint overs on my old art. It is shocking to me how much I have actually improved. The new versions make the old versions look like weird aliens LOL. I have to laugh at my old choices. Still so far to go.

For the zombie/dog one: I know you fixed the anatomy but I think you should have specified _why_ it was wrong. So I'm about to ramble about dog anatomy for way too long. >The toes on the dog's paw are curling inward and are too long. It's drawn more like a feline than a canine. Dog's nails are short and blunt and they don't curl their toes, in fact they don't rely on scratching as a means of defense at all so having blood on them is a little weird unless it's on the rest of the paw as well. Their feet tend to be stiffer- cats are built for climbing and are very flexible, using their paws more like little hands- while dog's are more built for running and rely more on their mouths and teeth. >The eyes looks very human-like. Too small and far apart. Maybe they're intentionally white because it's a zombie, but if not, dogs have brown eyes almost exclusively and you can't really see the whites unless their looking to the side. >And the teeth/jaw is too round and short (like a human) rather than long and meeting at more of a point (like a dog). It actually looks like they referenced human teeth instead of dog teeth. It seems to be missing the bottom incisors, and has human like molars. The teeny little bottom teeth should face outward more, especially at the angle it's currently at. >The tongue is human like as well, (Is this a dog human hybrid? Genuinely.) dog tongues are long and flat, they wrinkle at the ends, and when they snarl the tongue wrinkles up in the back so they don't accidentally bite it. Actually this tongue doesn't necessarily look human like, it looks stiff like plastic. >I'm not sure what type of dog it's supposed to be. It looks like a German Shepherd but the mouth reads Boxer. Too fluffy to be a boxer, snout too short and too much jowl for a GSD. >The spittle looks like it's coming AT us, but if the dog is lunging it should be going backwards, away from us. Dogs can't really spit because they don't have lips, so it just passively dribbles out or foams around the jowls. Always use reference! Dog mouths are not the sort of thing you should be drawing from imagination if you want it to look right. sauce: love dog, have dog, think always about dog, am dog
Great video.These paintovers are really well rendered, but I feel like you changed the feeling of the painting for a few of them. The mummy looked innocent at first, but after, it looks like he's a villain. I'm not sure if that was what you were aiming for or not, but it's something I noticed.

Yea, I liked the original dog expression more. The new one looked like devilish or how the Japanese try to make evil characters look as evil as possible. The old one just looked idk mindless and rabid. It was interesting.

I did not get the notifcation (was at work) for this so Im a bit late lmao. OF COURSE IT WAS MY DRAWING THAT GOT CUT OUT 🥲🥲🥲 Yes, she's a mermaid-fish lady-water nymph that can breath air.... I dont have the lore complete yet. But I didnt realize until two weeks ago why I struggled with the drawing, as you stated my colors were too saturated. I also decided at the last moment to add those lighting, instead of thinking about it in the early stages... which made things more saturated 😅 I really loved how you rendered the hair 🥺🥺🥺, I spent half the drawing redoing it because I struggle with hair that isn't coily/curly. And I appreciate the tips on the scales and the ears. I liked the end result of the eyes. If it makes you feel better about the eyes, I kinda regret making her sclera black? 🧍🏾♀️
you mentioned rei17 and a possible tutorial on that type of color and i would be really interested in that!! i’ve been getting very interested in their style and i can’t for the life of me figure out how to get that type of color on my own without referencing their pieces lol
15:00 I had a very talented colleague who is a colorblind artist. His color work was actually better than mine, so this shouldn't be a big hindrance. Keep it up!
This was so much more helpful for me than watching just a normal speedpaint tutorial. Being able to see the major difference with the changes you made really helped illustrate the techniques and principles applied.
please make move videos on portrait painting. the ones shown on this series are always great but it would be a big help if you separate it from other types of illustrations. you're awesome dude

I didn't like that he fixed the breasts on that one drawing. Like, those exist... And it seemed really natural. Don't really understand how that was a "fix". The after actually looks how they'd look with a really harsh push up bra, which doesn't make sense because it looked like the character didn't have anything underneath. I watch a lot of these type of videos from different RUclipsrs and it's always funny to me how this is actually really common, like, I realized some men go hmm they're too low, and they're not. Like it's interesting and funny at the same time how they think that part of the body works. Not offended or anything though, I really liked the video!! Just an observation.
PS: Which is really understandable!! Because understanding how a part of the body works/looks like is really hard when you don't have it! Plus maybe the artist is happy with the fix, who knows. I just think it would be cool to normalize common shapes. 😣
I don't know if im one to pass my thoughts on this but I feel like with the dog piece that the whole idea of the dog is that it's like its already too late and the dogs like already gone beserk and is mid jump which I guess is something id reflect more or exaggerate in the paintover like if its mouth was more open, although the snarling dog face does probably look very fearsome anyway
