Except it's a power move. Let people believe one can surprises him by hiding in his laundry basket. Once you plan to use that against him, he has already won.
It’s super cool to have one of the pros of StarCraft at the highest levels making videos on RUclips. Plus, he’s funny, relatable, and makes interesting videos. I could see him having a RUclips career after StarCraft.
To me, a mere casual, the most striking thing always was how perfectly he distributes his army. He leaves just enough units on a vulnerable base delay a harassing squad until just enough units that he kept as defence reserve arrive. Meanwhile the minimum required army holds ground or delays opponent's army while a harassing party formed from all freed up units goes to cause damage on another side. He judges how fights will go insanely well. Often you look at his reaction to some harass or drop and think he miscalculated. But the attackers get cleaned or retreat after a decent but not great trade for Serral. Of course that goes on top of insane micro, perfect macro, his ability to read the game and his relentless harass and scouting. That's just what always set him apart from other top-players in my eyes.
Hi, Reynor. I am from Chile, South America and I wanted to express my sincere gratitude for the amazing content you and your fellow StarCraft players have been providing. Your explanations are truly inspiring and your videos are a joy to watch. As a long-time fan of the game, I've been here since 2000, (playing the SC campaign and all) and later following and learning from Day9, and seeing you, Serral, Harstem, and the rest of the gang leading the way in 2023 fills me with so much happiness and pride. I can see all the love, respect, and good energy the community gives you. I'm sure I'm not alone when I say that "Thank you for all, you are the best, and I can't wait to see what the future holds for you and your fellow StarCraft players".
This one is quickly starting to become one of my favorite channels in the whole of youtube; or the internet in general, for that matter. Beautiful analysis and so much important knowledge and insight in just 20min
Seeing the mutal respect is something I really love. Anyone a bit into SC2 can look at Serral's gameplay and see "oh this dudes kinda wildin". But for (I'd say) the second best zerg in the world whos definitely a contender for #1 publicly recognize a fellow competitor and recognize where the gaps, however few may be, are shows an incredible amount of personal respect. Absolutely A1 my guy.
Great video! I've been arguing with lots of people who say Serral wasn't in good shape this tournament and that he would have lost to Maru in the SF or Oliveira in the final, and I keep telling them to go watch his series vs herO and Byun cause he was playing flawlessly. Just cause he was having a hard time in ZvZ, the biggest coin flip of a matchup, does not mean he was in bad shape; he didn't drop a single map in ZvT or ZvP this tournament. In fact he looked unstoppable in those matchups, especially if you compare the Byun series to the series he lost to Byun a couple months ago at Home Story Cup. He played waaaaay better this time.
@@bobby4tw Sry, but gonna have to massively disagree with you. Byun's builds are super versatile, I'd say the only predictable thing about him is he always plays bio.
@@space_orphan That's what I mean, a one trick pony and he relies to much on his micro, micro that today is not all different to the other pro Terran players. There is a reason he never get very far nowadays in tournaments.
@@bobby4tw I wouldn't really call a Terran going Bio all the time "One-trick pony" given that Mech is definitely not sustainable against players like Serral, Reynor and Dark who know how to use the INSANELY cost efficient Vipers against it. Great stuff! I think Serral took SC2 to another level in 2018-19 or so. Macro was always important, but he was the first with this omni-present style, with many players following him soon after.

ciao Reynor sono BlackHole, giocavo un mare di anni fa in nazionale team B, quando hai iniziato, Bravissimo, hai portato l'italia di sc2 alle stelle. sono stato orgogliosissimo per tutte le tue vittorie
You could do a series with an in depth analysis of the very top players and what makes them special. Very few have the personal experience of having played aganinst them at the top level.
He does such a good job of scouting and keeping tabs on his opponent. Feels like he quickly whittles down what he could face, prepares for those limited options and then responds (usually) perfectly. Unless he's caught off guard, feels like he has a 90% win rate 😂
great video, thank you ! do you think it would be a good idea to make a video or two on build orders and how some players, have the same opening but different follow ups making it harder to predict?
In relation to this; Prior the IEM tournament and his big win, Oliveira trained a lot with Serral. When I watched the finale of Oliveira vs Maru, I felt like Oliveira made a lot of plays and decisions that felt very Serral-esque. Some time later I then learned of the fact how he had trained with Joona and then I realized I wasn't imagining it. I think it would be very interesting to hear a more professional analysis of just how big of a factor and influence Oliveira had from this training. Maybe like comparing his plays and decision making before IEM finals and during?
Honestly Serral really follows the ideal zerg game plan. Get slightly ahead economically, and slowly increment that advantage over time by avoiding any costly mistakes. It's wonderful, and so hard in practice to maintain such consistency.
Thanks for watching guys!!!
GO REYNOR!

Raynor: "hero is considered the best pvz player in the world"
Also Raynor: * proceeds win a game against Serral playing protoss *
its nice to here from Reynor about Serral ^^
Reynor talking us through Serral's gameplay. This is quality x quality.
He does such a good job of scouting and keeping tabs on his opponent. Feels like he quickly whittles down what he could face, prepares for those limited options and then responds (usually) perfectly.
Unless he's caught off guard, feels like he has a 90% win rate 😂
my respect for Reynor just went up big time.. only for the respect he showed for the GOAT
great video, thank you !
do you think it would be a good idea to make a video or two on build orders and how some players, have the same opening but different follow ups making it harder to predict?
I dont really play, but I love watching sc2. Thanks for uploading!
Love your content king, keep it up
In relation to this;
Prior the IEM tournament and his big win, Oliveira trained a lot with Serral.
This sounds like a hell of an idea, ngl.
@Michael Lochlann Bro just necronyming a world champion. Bruh!
That's a good one though. lol
Love watching Z bloodbath with elevator music 😂.
Casual Mondays
Honestly Serral really follows the ideal zerg game plan. Get slightly ahead economically, and slowly increment that advantage over time by avoiding any costly mistakes. It's wonderful, and so hard in practice to maintain such consistency.
Glad to see another high level SC2 player making content on youtube! 👍
i notice @ 19:54 serral had 5 hatcheries but only 4 of them on a control group. is that for a reason or did he just forget to add one of them?
Reynor decides to finally join the money train. Thank god
Strangely wholesome stuff
Reynor, upload some more of your plays as well, with some comments why doing some particular actions?
You have made me go to Diamond this week :-D
Thank you for presenting such good entertaining stuff, champion Reynor~! 😄
