It's pretty amazing that serral, in the past, was the player that played somewhat timid in ZvZ with standard builds, not really committing either way (eco or aggressive) and getting rolled time and time again by other zergs who committed way harder, especially rogue. This now turned exactly the other way round with dark playing somewhat standard builds, sometimes with a bit of early aggression but not very committed. And when serral DOES play standard, he just play better than the opponent, constant scouting, insanely good unit movement, does not forget the upgrades, amazing player. I'm a fanboy my god.
If there was any sc2 player to fangirl over, it's serral Maru was respectable in his day at the top, Bly and Zest and those kinds were always fun to watch, but Serrals not only the one you want to be, but given his realistic apm, he's the one you could fool yourself into saying 'I have a chance'
Yesterday, I watched the finals between Serral and Maru first on ESL Archives (I wanted to see their faces ... Maru's smile after receiving the 4th fungal growth in a row was impeccable), and then here, and now I've realized that I am indeed addicted to watching SCII matches again :D
That third game was pretty amazing with Serrals roachwall, I have never seen someone doing it quite as dedicated like that. He even had a double roach wall on the ramp to his main (you dont see it in this cast, but in the original IEM cast it was shown, 2x3 roaches with some space in between them) so if banes were to breach the first wall, there would still be a wall to fall back to. Simply amazing!
I've been watching these casts for the last month or two, and I'm coming back here purely because I've seen Winter fanboy over both Dark and Serral so hard that I am now caught up in the infection, and are ridiculously excited to watch both the gaming and how much I believe you'll enjoy this. Love what you do 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Hilarious matchup and beautifully chaotic Love how after a few games they kinda stop the early super micro aggression so not to short-circuit their own brains
While the box art of SC1 and campaign of vanilla SC2 highlight the terrans, the zerg are unquestioningly the legacy of starcraft. You can say X zerged Y, and people who have never played starcraft know what you're talking about (citation required, because there's probably not very many that never played starcraft). The Toss are cool and made a mark in cards against humanity, and the terrans do a good job of not just being "average", but the zerg introduced an entirely new and wonderfully creative thing to the world of sci fi.
Fun Fact: Dehaka, a Heart of the Swarm Zerg story character, is the only Zerg specimen that is known to have hair - a scraggly beard on his chin. Some might consider Sarah Kerrigan's Zerg form to have hair, but all references I could find to her transformation canonically describe it as segmented stalks or tendrils, mostly believed to be the mechanism by which she exerts control over the Zerg.
It was in this match, not against Maru, Serral showed he was the ultimate champion. ZvZ is luck multiplied by micro, but Serral turned it into chess. That's when he became the GOAT.
Serral is so superior to everyone else that it seems like he's playing another game, he's a monster. He defeated Dark so badly that it's almost impossible to describe...
@@tondekoddar7837 That definitely looked very well thought out - building placement, how many roaches are needed to block the space between, queen blocking the back door... beautiful. At one point he even pulled out a roach, and the space was blocked by an egg in the meantime.
Serral may start a series with "pretty standard business", but after that i imagine him thinking in Abathur's voice: *Design must be simple, elegant. Implementation less so. Sequences must change. Intent static. Product fluid* *Work harder. Better. Make faster. Stronger. Evolution never over.*
I feel like StarCraft 2 is less about what race you want to play, and more about what race you can’t stand the mirror match against. I gotta say I love Zerg but it’s the most stressful mirror match to play!
In game 2, something happened to Dark's +2 ranged upgrade. It started, then went back to 0 and stayed there for a while, then jumped back and continued, but very delayed. That must have been a contaminate. I didn't know the production tab showed it that way, so it confused me for a while, but there was an overseer around, so that must have been it, right?
If Serral decided to master other races he'd still win IMO maybe his random isn't so goated in a pro level but who knows, maybe if they all played random perhaps.
Great series, mirror or not. More ZvZ? Idk, if it's like this, YES PLEASE. More Serral vs Dark anyday. More Dark vs anyone anyday. More Serral vs anyone anyday. I love what these people are doing, and love how you present, mate, big thank + have a nice day
So, for me, it works very easy: 1: the video pops up on my notifications 2: i click it 3: click on like on the video 4: just enjoy the game and the cast Easy isn't it?
I don't play the game, but really enjoy to watch. But I havet 1 question; If it is zerg vs zerg will both have movement speed on eachother creep? Thanks for the content🙈☺️

Great casting and love watching the games. Please remove the part at 30:25 about divorce. You'd be surprised the pain it brings. I ask, as someone who had faced the pain and heartache it brings of growing up with a single mother and a dad who loved drugs more than this family.

Watching him is like watching any goat in any other sport. Plus in offline tournaments he gets powered up.
If there was any sc2 player to fangirl over, it's serral

Amazing how the SC2 pro scene has lasted to 2024.
It's growing. The finals had ~70k live viewers
i just got into it....
Best esport IMO makes it look like these guys are generals in the 25th century.
these kids today are so smart they want sc2 not dumb cod
amazing how blizzard dropped the ball

Dark: wins the first game
Serral: And I took that personally
Only map he lost the whole tournament
Serral, the Air Jordan of SC2.
@@empirate100I'd say him playing those keys makes him more of a Beethoven 😂
Dark was the only one who made Serral bend on the last tournament. Bend, but not break.
Serral showing all the Protoss how to properly wall off against Zerg, and he did it on an exposed gold base!
I've been watching these casts for the last month or two, and I'm coming back here purely because I've seen Winter fanboy over both Dark and Serral so hard that I am now caught up in the infection, and are ridiculously excited to watch both the gaming and how much I believe you'll enjoy this.
Love what you do 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
2 of my favourite zerg players against each other, this is a dream come true....again!
That wall in game 3 tho… 🔥
Not just a wall, but an entire golden castle.
Showing all them Protoss how to wall off against Zerg, and doing it on an exposed gold base no less!
I imagine Serral's every idle braincell just going: Bass line: "Doo do do do! Do do! Do do! *can't touch this!*" on repeat! :D
The ZvZ stress is real.
Hilarious matchup and beautifully chaotic

This might be the first ZvZ that I thoroughly enjoyed watching. As always, thank you Winter for the insight.

Exactly this was a pure chess match and Serral destroyed Dark with class like the best Carlson does against any opponent. Innate class.
Serral wall off his base as zerg better than HerO against Dark.
hero is known for his aggression, but his defence is suck
Serral is so superior to everyone else that it seems like he's playing another game, he's a monster. He defeated Dark so badly that it's almost impossible to describe...
A consulting firm for larvae does sound like a pretty standard business.
Serral just dug in his couch cushion and found some extra drones
It takes Dark to make serral look so brilliant
25:52 this is literally .. GOLD xD
yes. Both physically and metaphorically
Dark was the only person who won ONE map against Serral. He went 20-1 in his journey to be world champion.
20-1 what a monster...
26:20 winter got a zergasm and was so fullfill he didnt wanna talk no more ! 😂
Thank You
Om nom nom
The only one to make Serral bleed
To me it looked like gold wall-in was in pocket for long time, but at last played now. Just amazing.
@@tondekoddar7837 That definitely looked very well thought out - building placement, how many roaches are needed to block the space between, queen blocking the back door... beautiful. At one point he even pulled out a roach, and the space was blocked by an egg in the meantime.
Just wall as Zerg is sometimes I didn’t think I’d see, what a view.
Winter's confusion and amazement at Serral's roach/evo wall amuses me.
I really appreciate you sprinkling in mirror matchups as I have other top players outdo each other with the same tools. Keep up the good work!
ooooh the first time i see a professionnal zvz, thank you for casting it !!!
I watched the game live and I'm thrilled watching it again with Winter casting it
Serral isn’t even old enough to know what a phone book is Bahaha 😅😅 great casting

The only person makes serral look mortal 😂
I concur, this mirror is dope.
You can't get over that wall? You're in good company; neither could Dark.
The zerg have discovered wall technology.
Serral just casually making a better wall than most Protoss using roaches lmao
That picture of the power rankings is killing me bro.
love the "the other side" intro.
I love dark’s confidence to say he’s the best. I’m not even kidding. Believe in yourself, dark. You’re absolutely goated.
Serral:
The Colgate of SC2
“The lions sing and the hills take flight. The moon by day, and the sun by night. Blind woman, deaf man, jackdaw fool. Let the Lord of Chaos rule. "
Dark: Tell me, do you bleed?
Serral: ....
Dark: You will.
Then he put some Maru paste on the wound, and everything was ok.
I mean, mainly dark bled in those games lul.
I feel like StarCraft 2 is less about what race you want to play, and more about what race you can’t stand the mirror match against. I gotta say I love Zerg but it’s the most stressful mirror match to play!
Getting around to this video today. Always love me some Dark but man am I excited to watch some Serral as well.
That third game was something else

Yeah, it actually got contaminated several times, at least twice.
Serral showing terran and protoss how to wall off open gold expansions against zerg there
If Serral decided to master other races he'd still win IMO maybe his random isn't so goated in a pro level but who knows, maybe if they all played random perhaps.
@@MarlonSolisFallas Apparently he has already said that he finds playing Terran "boring".
I'd love to see more mirror matchups!
omg game 2 was great, Zerg mirrors are actually fun to watch sometimes but dark and serral is a treat. Great job Winter on that game2!! loled so much
Serral vs Reynor, (when Reynor is on top of his game), is the most exciting mirror match.
I love the expression, a knife fight in a phone booth”. However, for the younglings maybe we should change it to a knife fight in a bath stall?
A boxing match in a steel drum

Great games & witty commentary.. thx!
25:50 for The scene
The Dark is Darkest Before the Dark.
And Happy Valentines Day to you!!! ❤
Funny, I thought that one person out of 10 top players in the world who didn't agree to that Serral is the GOAT could only have been Serral himself.
A phone book is a book that looks like a phone dur.
Great series, mirror or not. More ZvZ? Idk, if it's like this, YES PLEASE. More Serral vs Dark anyday. More Dark vs anyone anyday. More Serral vs anyone anyday. I love what these people are doing, and love how you present, mate, big thank + have a nice day
hahaha indeed, the numbers dont lie.
Serral is a fucking monster
serrals dad has flown across the ocean
"I've never been so excited for a mere match-up", hmmm?
We sure Serral isn't borg?
Dark is the Final Boss of the game, but Serral is the main character.
Serral the GOAT
"like a knife fight in a phone box"
Woooow, game 3. Guess he finally started taking ZvZ seriously after last year.
I main Zerg, was master for some years, but man zvz is so stressful... Got to end it quickly... Find the damage or die trying XD
game 3 was really something.
I dont usuually watch mirror matches..but serral and dark??? Lets gooo
Watch, the roach wall becomes new meta
that guy is on top for how long now? its insane hes probably outperforming moon from wc3 at this point no?
If Serral were the Final Boss, we probably would never won the game
I love ZvZ its just chaos and I love it
It's like a sophisticated ant war
So, for me, it works very easy:
1: the video pops up on my notifications
2: i click it
3: click on like on the video
4: just enjoy the game and the cast
Easy isn't it?
As an 81.35 IQ Normie I can't wait to copy Serral on the Ladder
I don't play the game, but really enjoy to watch. But I havet 1 question; If it is zerg vs zerg will both have movement speed on eachother creep? Thanks for the content🙈☺️
Yeah, creep doesn't care whos units they are and will boost opponents movement speed as well
