For zippers, I take the time to baste them in beforehand. It doesn’t take too long and makes it so much less fiddly and worrying at the machine, with smoother better lined up results.
I, too, just loooooove tulips. They were the first thing I noticed in your opening shot. And I enjoyed the extra cat footage. Your attention to detail inspires me to do the same. Thank you. You were right. The fabric looks great with your hair color. The spot where you shot the reveal is so pretty with your floral dress. The pattern was a perfect match to the fabric.
I was so excited, I found it at a flea market and it was so cheap and is one of my favorites to use, although it took some practice because of its odd shape.
I'm glad to hear you were feeling your look in the cost breakdown because i was going to say i love the bun+wispies, darker lip and eye look! Looking vampy
I love both the pattern and the fabric you used. The colours of the print look wonderful on you! The cost breakdown is always interesting and I admire the extra work you do to draw attention to fast fashion exploitation plus help everyone understand what goes into creating a dress, including fabric choices 💖
Thanks for sharing your awkward moments. Most people take themselves wayyyyy too seriously and curate everything about their image. I’m here for the real stuff. Besides, awkward is cute af and nobody can convince me otherwise. 🌷 16:41
Love your videos and all the patterns you use are to die for. Where I live is very hard to come by vintage patterns or vintage fabric. I think that we should think twice whenever buying a new piece of clothing especially when it comes from those brands that do not support children and womens rights.
Yeah I have to order most of mine online to have access to them, and agreed especially since so many companies tout that they support women while keeping the women making their clothing in poverty wages.
Oh your flowers are always so pretty. Your fabric is perfect for your hair. :-) It is so pretty (both your hair and the fabric ;-) The dress is stunning and I loved your choice of buttons. Very pretty necklace as well. :-) Plus pockets!!!!
Depending on what sort of zip you are doing I've found a brilliant knack that works for invisible zips. You basically stitch everything together as normal but leave the back open mark the zip length accordingly and stitch to this point with usual stitches then use basting stitches on your machine for the zip seam once you've done that then stitch your zip on the inside with basting stitches relatively close the the seam line on both sides once that is done seam rip the zip seam and then go in with your concealed foot zip and stitch on the right side turning the seam allowance out on both sides then you'll find once you have stitched it in place 99% of the time everything matches up!
First given that you have to have a work badge every day, having a cool place to wear your badge is a top priority. On the elastic cuffs try Making two routes ties per sleeve connect together with a small piece of elastic. Add cuff button holes thread drawstring/elastic through. Tuck tie ends inside cuff (or leave them out for bow detail) Cuff becomes adjustable but more stable than just elastic
"I'm not here to sell you shit" really made me smile. The cost discussion always makes me wonder how much cheaper a good quality company can buy good quality materials.
Wholesale can get at least 50% cheaper so they can totally find a lot of things that are high quality a lot cheaper, however the discount goes higher the more bulk you buy which many high end designers do but then throw away the fabric they don't use because of how much cheaper it was to buy more than less so it can be icky. Luckily brands distributing their deadstock fabric has become more normal so less goes to the landfill but a lot of brands still send to the landfill....
@@HaleyMarieVintage I didn't realize they actually threw it away. That is infuriating. I wonder if it is like those retailers who have a locked crusher out back to make absolutely sure nobody can have it, or if employees get to grab it as it goes out the door. The corporate mentality sure is like a sociopath teenage boy.
Love how your dress matches your hair. Love you video's! I wish I could support you but I am on a fixed income. Just know that you are very appreciated.
Love the dress and LOVE the labor discussion. Made in America products still need scrutiny, I see so many t-shirts marketed that way but you know the companies are paying per piece and not a livable wage.
100% what is going on with garment workers in LA is so illegal and unethical. I am actually fairly skeptical of brands that advertise of being made only in the US
Ooohhhhh girl, you scared me for a minute with those tulips lol. I have 3 cats, 2 of which are really dumb and will eat anything, so no plants are allowed in our house. Tulips are also my favorite flower so I'm sad I can't have them.
Lol yeah Spooky is a pretty good cat and never really eats anything that isn't her food (she is also not good at eating her food lol) Plus with her being 3 legged she can't jump and reach them where they normally sit.
I was wondering if you could get one of those fold away tables that when you want to sew you wheel it out and fold out the ends. It comes out really big. Great for you to cut out and it would probably help your back. I think they are on Amazon. I love Spooky sorry I called her a he.
So it takes time, but pay attention to the sound right when you put in a needle vs when you've used it for hours, it is louder/very different sounding once it dulls.
I wonder if the twisti-ness is because you didn’t know where the top-center of the sleeve was and just needs to be rotated so the sleeve doesn’t twist.
twisting shoulder problem : 1 either you are going around the hole flat when it should be twisted once or 2 twisted once when it should be flat or 3 tension on the elastic is too much or 4 tension on the elastic is inconsistent. Maybe more than one thing Be a scientist do some experiments!
This is an astounding dress. I'm going to search my stash of patterns to find a similar. The fabric is too cute to boot. And, you look great in it! Gotta go pattern stash searching!
Love a spooky moment!❤❤❤

Thanks for the Spooky footage and sharing your dress! It looks wonderful
Thank you!
I’m loving the idea of comparing the cost and quality of making clothes with fast fashion and the salary of the ceos
Love how the tulips coordinate with your hair in the intro
The colors in the fabric go so well with your coloring, and I love the retro pattern. Super pretty!
Thank you!
Well done! Love the pattern and the fabric! The fact that it matches you hair …Chefs kiss!
Thanks!
Yet another beautiful outfit and the colours match your current hair colours which looks great
Thank you!
I love the tulips in your opening sequence. That vase is fascinating.
I was so excited, I found it at a flea market and it was so cheap and is one of my favorites to use, although it took some practice because of its odd shape.
I love that I was there for the pickup of this fabric. It turned out SO LOVELY
Thank you!
We love it when your su-purr-visor stops by.
Thanks lol
The pockets, style lines and fabric are all great. Your collar come out so well. The price comparisons are interesting as usual. Thank you.
Thank yoU!
Before you mentioned it I was going to post that you do, indeed, look FABULOUS today!
Thank you!

What a lovely dress for spring! And you are looking fantastic since it hugs you in all the right places 👗 🪡

Love the vintage goth inspired look at the end, super fun! The fabric on the dress is gorgeous and looks so nice with your hair!
Thank you!

So lovely! The black/dark accents look so good and this fabric is so cool! I wish reprints were more readily available. Great job❤
Thanks! There are a few reprint lines out there but I have never seen anything like this one in them!
LOVE THE FABIC AND THE DRESS LOOKS LOVELY ON YOU.
Thanks!

I've watched you for a long time and this dress is my fav of all time. Suits you beautifully!

I am a placket-metal zip gal, but this is a great tip!
I love the terms you use - armpit sleeve. It’s exactly how I talk about dress parts haha
LOL sometimes the unofficial term is more fun!
I love this fabric, and the dress looks so good on you. I'm learning too, that fixing those little mistakes is worth it!
Thank you!
Beautiful dress made out of high-quality fabric ❤ 🇬🇧
Thank you!
The dress suits you so well. Well done on all the details that make this a great piece!
Thank you!
You look like you should be a model wearing that ❤ so gorgeous
This dress turned out so freaking cute
Thanks!
The belt and bottons definitely work, good job!
Thank you!
So here for harkening and hips ... pure sewing intellect! Thank you and Hello Queen Spunks!! 🖤

Love the attitude, more ought to think and sew
Yes! I think this dresses so pretty. Great job.
Thank you!
Your dress is fabulous lovely material 🤩 xx
Well done! Enjoyed the spiciness at the end.. lol

I like a fuller skirt for myself it I love the length!
I usually do too but occasionally something less full really does it for me.
Looks amazing and suits you so much!
Thank you!
Beautiful!!!

I love that, my job is to make you think not to sell you s***! You totally rock that’s awesome!
Please elaborate on the difference in sound with a dull needle. I figure some of mine must be dull by now but I don’t know how to tell.
So it takes time, but pay attention to the sound right when you put in a needle vs when you've used it for hours, it is louder/very different sounding once it dulls.

Cats? Sharing chairs? lol
Perks of a tiny cat
Beautiful dress pattern and fabric. Just need to add a hair to the pattern at waist to hip. Just a hair bit too snug.

@@HaleyMarieVintage I found a pattern! Made the dress and a matching hat.
