    I thought the dress was really flattering on you even with it being lose. It would be interesting to see what that pattern would look like in a softer fabric without the buttons so it's just a normal dress. I did think the dress would be good for house work or gardening. You have lot's of pockets to fill with stuff

    It’s super cute! I really love how you used different colors of vintage buttons, such a great way to use them and the denim background of the dress lets them shine. The dress itself reminds me of those Victorian/Edwardian cycling culottes that had a bit of a moment in historical costuming channels awhile back. Some of the styles had a flap of fabric that, depending on how you buttoned it, you could look like you were wearing a skirt (at least from the front) once you got to whatever you were going. I could see this being the same, you button it up to make it easier to ride a bike and let the shorts do the work of preserving modesty, then let it back down when you get to your destination.

      Yes, like being able to button it up for climbing a bunch of stairs so I didn't have to focus on hiking my skirt was so nice!

    Raw-dogging is the absolute perfect term for it. I tend to just say fuggit, let's wing it. every time I have had to cut into something like that.

    What a fun make! Your hand sewing makes the final result all the better. Your weird little patch of wildflowers was the perfect location. 😊

    This dress reminds me of an egg gathering apron. I can imagine using the folds as little pockets. Super cute love the rainbow buttons

    This turned out so cute! I love the colorful buttons you chose. They looks great when the dress is buttoned and unbuttoned. And the ones around the neck? Chef's kiss. Sewing tip: when doing an overcast or overlock stitch on your sewing machine, try loosening the upper tension a little. Test before doing it on the project to get the tension just right.

    I love the dress you wore in the breakdown. I wish you would do like a this is this dress.
    Also instead of buttons i feel like the modern day thing would be snaps or zippers and removing the whole layer.

    I think this is one of my favorite things you have ever made. Do I say that all of the time? I can't help you, you are so talented. :-) I I love how this can go longer or shorter and the buttons were so great...but you had me at embroidery floss. :-)

    I love the buttons on the dress!! It turned out super cute!! Makes me wish I could sew using my vintage patterns, but my brain doesnt want to work to figure out the fit issues I have with the one I did start previously. I loves 40s and 50s and 60s inspired clothing but with loud prints.

    Not sure we needed to know you needed a nap 😂 anyway @ 4:57 talking about lack of instructions and i thought of the Simplicity sewing books they published. Have any? I ❤ my Vogue sewing book and its a resource that needs to be used with their patterns for greater success! ...ok back to the video, and why am i not subscribed 😮....🛎😊 Making samples is good too. Heavier fabric gathering over a cord is an option. Cute dress! 💙

    Hi Haley, I don't know if you have already made a video on this, but I'd love to see an "All About My Sewing Machine" video. I noticed you have a Singer. What model is it? I just ordered a Singer 9960 for myself.

    • @HaleyMarieVintage
      @HaleyMarieVintage  22 дня назад

      I have a singer 9985, I don't talk much about my machine because a ton of machines that are out there work great when you sew garments all you really need is a good straight stitch and button options.
