I'm almost 30 years old. Those kids are born every year, they are motivated from the beginning and till the end. They actually stand out in class, but no one pays them attention cause they are on another level. If you Google the kids that pop in your mind in your youth, those kids made it. Trust me.

That is true, she is definitely a special case. However I think a lot of people should follow the same principles. Especially getting grades up, working during school, and doing applications until you are sick of it. I think Dave was really looking for somebody with knowledge in this neck of the woods because college is a really tough topic for him to touch on while teaching not to get debt.

I’ve never understood. I used fast web to apply, along with my daughter, for any scholarship she could qualify for. We literally applied to 100. Never heard a peep from any of them. And most said they would be awarded to kids with “demonstrated academic need.” We are fortunate that we are not in that category, but I feel like we wasted days of our lives. 🙄

She has many factors that would get her scholarships. In addition to excellent grades, leadership roles, and extracurricular activities, she is raised by a single mom and is most likely the first person in her family to go to college. I work in a high school, and I have seen time and time again that if two students had about the same GPA, similar activities and leadership roles, same number of volunteer hours, etc., the student who has a demonstrated financial need or is the first in his/her family to go to college would most likely get the scholarship. The other student might not even be eligible to apply. If anything, this shows that kids from low income backgrounds can "afford" college with some effort.

There is a good strategy to pick the schools that have money as well. Some top tier schools and scholarships have great scholarship programs depending on your financials situation. I got scholarships at private schools that were cheaper than my instate public school. There’s A LOT of strategy in scholarships.

I am grateful for her encouragement to all those out there. I think it is a good idea to look for scholarships. However, 100-200 scholarships, is that not alarming at all? Are we going to touch on the fact that college is too costly to begin with? We keep beating people us saying work harder, but not going after the system that makes it hard to get a great education to begin with. I agree developing a great work ethic is a must but there are many ways and endeavors just from living that can build work ethic. I think we need to work on both, helping our children with life lessons but also reforming some of the ways of the world, that are just not helpful.

Guess she is Anthony's replacement since he is kind of been pushed to the background. It is very hard to listen to a lot of the new personalities and a lot of times they give some sketchy advice. Also none of them have any real finance experience or background which just seems weird. JD is more relationship stuff, Ken is meh career advice I guess, AO give debt free college advice without graduating college? Racheal does a decent Dave impression and Kristie does entrepreneur stuff. But if you asked any of them detailed financial questions about real estate investing, stocks, social security strategies, retirement planning and different options or detailed insurance questions they would all be clueless. All they can do is regurgitate the baby steps. Ultimately I don't think Dave's empire survives much past him unless he finds someone that really knows their stuff...the problem is anyone that knows their stuff will have different advice than Dave and he can't tolerate that since it might mean he was wrong about something.

Yeah, you got some solid points here. Maybe they need to transition away from the show in the future and focus more on financial tools and seminars. Bottom line is there will never be another Dave Ramsey in terms of financial knowledge and command of the microphone. The only options they have are jumping the shark in terms of quality, having a radical paradigm shift in the show's content and philosophy, or giving the show an honorable end (which I think is the best option).
