I had one once and he will be in my heart for ever with many cute and interesting moments. Also once my mom was sad about something and he kept looking at her and grabbing her finger. She said she felt his pain and anxiety for her ,and that she wouldn't be sad again in front of him 😅. I do believe her. So cute! I heard somewhere that they actually have separate compartments within their burrows for food storage, toilet and sleep. Perhaps they have a room where they watch movies as well?🐿🐿🤣🤣🤣❤️❤️
I only named one chipmunk, she was super smart. She had a big house with 2 entries at least, underneath an old stump, no digging, maintenance free. She was around me all the time, having 3 meals a day in my gazebo while I was building my cabin. She didn't come back after winter and I decided not to give them names anymore. Last summer I had 3 chipmunks visiting me, they are courageous and smart.
I love having the chipmunks around. They do come and go here. That’s why I usually don’t name them either. Peanut was the first one I hand fed but he doesn’t come very often to get food either. I saw more of them come in the spring and then more in the fall and in between I just see one show up here and there.
My chipmunk comes to her name, comes in the house, sits on my lap and gets pet. She's spoiled as hell. All the animals are spoiled but the ones who I'm connected with get extra spoiled.
Great footage, Mel G! Do you know which chipmunk this one is? This little guy/gal is very industrious and all the dirt on his face is adorable. He may have to take a swim in the pond/lake near your house to get all clean by supper time, but that doesn't really seem to bother him. Thanks and I look forward to seeing him again after his winter's hibernation.
They don’t fully hibernate. They do stay in their hole sleeping for most of the winter but they wake up to eat and even occasionally come out if it gets warm enough. I saw them out last February with snow still on the ground! ❄️🐿
The dirt in the hole at night is so cute! I don’t put food by the hole and no this is not Peanut. Peanut lives at the end of my driveway. I’ve named this one Little Chip!

@@levent8208 This is only the 2nd chipmunk I’ve named. I’m not sure how many squirrels have names but my naming system is pretty silly anyways, catching squirrel , catching squirrel 2, catching squirrel 3, big buddy, big buddy 2 lol!🤣🤣🤣 And I think Little Chip accidentally pushed out some of the seeds and peanuts with the dirt it pushed out so it was collecting them again.
