This Elekric Band2 line-up is my favorite. I especially enjoy Mike Miller’s solos not to mention other players too. Mike’s playing is so tasteful with so much feel. The album’s paint the world features so much of mike’s great work. My only disappointment is there was just one album released for this band setups. Can’t get enough. The same How I wish there were more of Scott Henderson with CCEB. (Fortunately got tribal tech). As for Mike Miller, still looking for his other recordings.. Greeting from a tiny little island 🏝 on the equator, south east Asia.
Totally agree, dude. Love pretty much everything Henderson has done and the stuff with the Elektrik Band was no different. Mike Miller feels like a more driving force in this band than Scott got to be when he played with Chick.
Mike filled in for the mighty John Goodsall when Brand X toured the US, I am pretty sure you can find the audio on YT and there have also been official bootlegs released featuring that line up. Goodsall was refused entry to the US, hence the need for an urgent replacement, and boy what a trial by fire that must have been for Mike. And whilst I am a huge Henderson fan, he was never right for the EB.
Only one of the best ...Weckl , Colaiuta , Gary Husband , Chad Wackerman , Tony Williams , Jack Dejohnette , Christian Vander , tom breichtlein ... And others and others , man ! The best drummer don't exist !
Gary Novak is unique. I saw CCEB 1 but I want to see these guys now, with Novak and Earl. Unless Minnemann was listed, he's expending more energy than all of them combined, not that it's the determining factor, but it's the facts, imho.
Saw this band live in Montreal in 1993. Took the Maxillo-Facial surgeon 6 hours to sew my jaw back into place after the show. Such a great band. Thanks for uploading.
I was there LIVE, at the Sala Kongresowa in 1993!!!! 13 was my age at that time. And this was THE concert, THE moment that made me decide "I want to be a professional musician!". I´ve been making a living from playing concerts for the past 20 years now. THANK YOU CHICK, GARY, ERIC, MIKE, JIMMY and numerous other wonderful beings, of course!!!!
Bodek Janke that must have been an amazing experience! Thank you for sharing that. Chick is one of the reasons I do music for a living, also! I was 13 or 14 when I first heard Return to Forever and was instantly hooked. It would be hard to pick a favourite musician, but Chick's up there. As far as I'm concerned, he is the best jazz pianist. Not always my personal fav, but he is the best, imho. Not only for his ability, compositions, but his spirit that comes through the music. And he's still kicking butt to this day!
You said it!! THIS band had a really raw energy that recalls the classic fusion bands - something I always felt the OG Elektric Band lacked! They were always too shiny and polished, or something. Part of that was Weckl - while I think he is one of the finest technicians ever, I much prefer Novak!
Agreed! I mean, being from Missouri I love Dave Weckl, but this is/was a whole new level. There might be better second versions of bands, but I cannot think of one. Even Eric stuck around for this one. Of course, this was a time when going solo on saxophone was ill advised, but still....
THIS is my favorite (and most musical) lineup of the Elektric Band by far. Miller and Novak are amazing listeners and great foils for Chick. I wish Chick would get this band back together for a new album and a tour!
Couldn't agree more, raymond....first heard Chick and RTF back in the late 70's, and I was beyond stunned. He's been my "all time..." as well now for 40 years. So far I have not seen the man in concert. Still hoping!
NOVAK brings a new quality to this group ............ playing technique is one two is a unique time three this feeling .............. I think this is the drummer who will pass to history
'Tumba Island' & 'Final Frontier' I've seen EB1 on the 'Eye Of The Beholder' tour but I'd really like to see EB2. Gary's single strokes always look like Humming bird wings haha
This is such an amazing show. Chick opens up hard and then the rest of the band tears it up even further. Pure fire from a genuinely unique line up. I'll say tho, Chick in the background playing cowbell on Eric's first solo, 👌😂
Although I love Weckl too, Novak has more of a Vinny approach which is just Powerful and Groovy and Super Intense. A very underestimated drummer I think. Absolutely beast mode 💪👊❤ And the absolute best line up ever!
Dig it, but if it ain't got Wekl.................................................what rhymes with Wekl? Jekyll? Freckle? Schmeckyl? Nah.....................no good verse. Whatever. Don't be a knave, jam with Dave? No? Screw you then.

Novak is a BEAST!!!!! and he played keys on Weckls first solo album....world class musician
He played bass on weckls second solo album Heads up, almost correct my friend...
Gary Novak = absolutely the best !!!!

Chick attracts great artists.
@@yvesgerard1308Yes he does - he's called Vinnie!
@@marksevel7696 Weckl/Colaiuta ... No one with so mutch technic and sensibility ...

Gary Novack The Best !!!
RIP Chi ck. Been loving your music for 3 decades, you were the best!

elmhurst86 Same year Kansas City.
'' HELL , I spent the nite in I.C. UNIT '' .... mike miller & gary novak in the same building , thats what happens ''
Well, I'll have to say, this is a first. The first time a drum solo ever brought me to tears. Gary Novak is the REAL DEAL. Scary is what he is.
Agreed man. I'm shaking..there's trillions of drum solos on the tube, but few make me filled awed and inspired.
J w I feel the same way...I've never quite reacted to a drum solo in this way!

Chick needs to get THIS band back together, forget OG Elektric and RTF. This was such a solid group.

mootbooxle 100% agree
@@mootbooxle Novak has shine/polish/technique in truckloads!
I prefer him, too.

Chick‘s best eclektic band ever (a groove like Jaco & Peter with WR)
One of Corea’s best groups
THIS is my favorite (and most musical) lineup of the Elektric Band by far. Miller and Novak are amazing listeners and great foils for Chick. I wish Chick would get this band back together for a new album and a tour!
Novak is simply amazing and Mike Miller kills it too. Love Jimmy Earl as well so I think I prefer this line up to Weckl and Patti good as that is..
Good lord - this band is insane. Something about this lineup, just more cohesive and enjoyable to listen to
Chick Corea is the greatest musician of all time. My hero, my inspiration and, I am proud to say, my friend.

Everyone loves Novak.
I saw this very line up in London - I would say around 1995. What an amazing concert that was, and so was this :) Thank you so much for sharing :)
Anytime
6:00 -- end of intro, band enters
16:06 -- beginning of interlude
27:27 -- end of drum solo
RIP Chick, you're the best. Have been listening to your music since the 80s
'Tumba Island' & 'Final Frontier' I've seen EB1 on the 'Eye Of The Beholder' tour but I'd really like to see EB2. Gary's single strokes always look like Humming bird wings haha
Don't no how this band got pass me.My all-time favorite Chic Corea band now!
This band sounds much more fluid and cohesive like the " Light as a Feather " album. My favorite Corea album and I've never bought a record of his.
🙌 NOVAK THA YUNG GOD 🙌

Jimmy Earl is a BADASS
Fantastic!
Más que solo música : energía y música pura de la mano de estos maestros
Nobody seems to have spared. a thought for a hardworking bassist!
Gary Novak is my favorite drummer in the world!
Great drummer 👍👍👍👍👍
+Mario Enrique Llado Vega Don't forget the bass player LoL
thanks a lot for uploading
incredible resource out there
I love these guys...
Check out the version of Tumba Island with John Patitucci and Vinnie Colaiuta at the Blue Note 1992. You can thank me later.
Sure would love to see a reunion of this band. Chick, if you're reading this...
He’s not!
Although I love Weckl too, Novak has more of a Vinny approach which is just Powerful and Groovy and Super Intense.
A very underestimated drummer I think.
Absolutely beast mode 💪👊❤
And the absolute best line up ever!
still love it!!
GN giving a nod to that Lenny White groove! 😀 I caught it!
'' MIKE MASTER MILLER ''' !!
Chick and Eric are the Joe Perry/Steve Tyler of Jazz.
We don't here Gary playing anything like this nowadays.
Good god.
Warsaw 1994
honor to be at this concert :):):):)
didn't they play "Ished" in this concert?? i was pretty sure....
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Is Jimmy Earl the same Jame Earl who played " Low Bass " with Stanley Clarke?
gods
Insane...!!. how the brain, I mean normal brain, can possibly allow to do THAT??!! incredible...🤯😱🙃🙃
Can I ask why Scott Henderson, David Weckl and John Pettitucci left the band?
Tumba! Quite possibly a snake... charming.
Onde foi esse show ?
Power, poetry, sex, precision, balls, and subtlety, and that's just Novak.
Great stuff. Where and when is this concert played in?
Warsaw, Poland Dude ;d, was about 16 yeras ago..
Meu Deus!!!!!
This guy was beyond skillful than Mozart or Bethoven
chick look like he driving a space ship sometimes
How much of this is Improv?
The guys were seasoned and disgusting on this eve. Everything locks together, there doesn't seem to be any sand in the machine.
What’s the name of the second song?
Final Frontier from the Paint the World album they were touring in support of
XeNU elektrik band
Я конечно преклоняюсь перед чиком, но остальные кроме техники ничего не выдали просто переиграть друг друга что то глубин не затронули?
Who is guitarist?
Mike Miller
