How would I use the sounds from the sound library to just use over a real piano or guitar? For example if I wanted a synth sound that my piano can’t make but it’s in the sound library but I want to physically play the piano still instead of tapping on the iPad? Thank you!
Great video. question, for the audio recorder I see a 1 for more libraries to download, when I go to manage libraries, which one is the audio recorder library addition?
How can I access the sounds that are in the ios version on my mac? I'm using a midi keyboard with garageband on my mac, but I noticed that the ios version has a way better sound library. What gives?
Yeah, it's a bit strange that iOS seems to have been given a lot better range of sounds recently in the form of sound packs. You could technically sample the sounds and then export and import in to GarageBand Mac, but it would be time consuming and not work super well. Hopefully the Mac version gets some love again soon.
For some odd reason I checked and it looks like GarageBand got another pack but for some reason when I click on sound library it shows only all my downloaded packs and I think it might be a glitch
Hi Pete, can I search to find specific sounds that may be in an available pack? For instance I am looking to simulate someone whistling also looking for car horn
Hey there! Not really. The search function works for loops and one shot samples, but there isn't search for GarageBand instruments and synth sounds, etc
Hey there. I’d suggest searching around and finding a sample then importing and using it as a sample or audio file. ruclips.net/video/PBTz8J5LxeA/видео.html
Pete I love your channel but I have a question. I check on some GarageBand you tubers and I realize that there are kits they have that I don’t such as the crate digger, dank bass, and minimalist. I have updated and got all sounds on my library. I really need these new sounds do you know how I can get it
Yup. Just go to the sound library and any packs that you haven’t downloaded, Tao in to and download. You will need the latest version of iOS and GarageBand for this.
Hey there my friend. Not that I’m aware of. I would suggest something like this - ruclips.net/video/UX-MZloapSY/видео.html Or perhaps search for a sound to import - ruclips.net/video/PBTz8J5LxeA/видео.html
Hi Pete - I remember seeing another video of yours (I can't remember which one) in which you were going through one of recording projects. I believe in one of the comments from that video, you mentioned that the strings in that project were Orchestra Jam Pack (or something like that). Has that been discontinued? Should it be available via the Apple App Store? I came across some websites that display it, but say they're out of stock...so it looks like it was a physical project and not downloadable like the examples you showed in this video? Where/how did you get it? How much did it cost? Thanks.
Hey Paul. The only thing I can think of here is that I was referring to iSymphonic or possibly SampleTank. Both are still available on the App Store. I would check out Jade Star’s video about iSymphonic to see if it’s right for you. ruclips.net/video/M8QQk7iKFSg/видео.html
Pete Johns In the sound library, there’s this one pack called Songwriter drummers. Do you know what the first type of music is called in the preview? Does it remind you of any music that sounds close to it?
Hey Pete! Thanks for your Vids, they're helping loads with writing my music. Now i've come across the issue, that i can't find an ukulele anywhere. Do you know, how i could get one into the App? Thanks
All these videos and no one addresses the main issue. How do you upload CUSTOM sounds into your Sound Library on GarageBand??? It’s that simple. These otherworldly and diverse sound kits are cool but what about if I want to store my own personal sounds into the GarageBand library??
Hey there. This video should point you in the right direction. ruclips.net/video/PBTz8J5LxeA/видео.html Or if you want to use the Sampler try this one - ruclips.net/video/zBaVXNY7VaA/видео.html
Hey there. Sound library sounds will be available in the loops and instruments. If you want to import your own sounds, you can use this process - ruclips.net/video/9NwsiCVAh3U/видео.html
Hey pete can you help me , I’ve been getting notifications about new sound packs on garage band available to download but when i enter the store i cant find any new ones
One question: is this a website you go to? If so, what is the web address? I have tried to access this on GarageBand and I don't see any such place. My Garageband just has a column on the left side of "bass" "drum kit" "percussion" etc with sub-sections. But nothing that looks like this.
Really? That’s very strange. Maybe check and ensure you have enough space on your device? This video might help - ruclips.net/video/MVp-AxhZkao/видео.html
Actually figured out the problem after writing the comment. The packs were downloading just for some reason I couldn't see the progress of the downloads. Just had turn my iPad off then back on. I feel silly now lol.
You said how to use the sound library! "Just to the left of the keyboard" OK, What keyboard? I am new to this and have my own keyboard plugged in and just to the left of it is my table.
Hey there Rodger. This is in the instrument selection panels when you start a new project in GarageBand on iPad or iPhone. If you’re starting out, head to my GarageBand FAQ page and take a look at some of the videos at the top of the page which should help you learn the basics. studiolivetoday.com/garageband
Want to download and import ANY sound file? Check this video out - ruclips.net/video/YHCt_6n2mWQ/видео.html
Thanks for that example! They could use that explanation in GarageBand’s info
You’re welcome my friend.
where did you get this window? on 0:30. Does somebody understand if is this in GB itself?

Nice, I think you answered every comment. :)
Yup. That’s the plan! 👍😎
🎵 "That's what they call him, deleter of the pack"🎵
Haha! This got a legitimate LOL out of me Gary! Gold. 🙏
I thought this comment had 1B likes but it was 18 likes 😂
Still confused on how to add it to a music live loop but thanks . This helped some
Hopefully you can find kite help here. studiolivetoday.com/garageband
@ thanks Mr John . I’ve got it now .
If my music one day gets famous it will be because of you and your videos!
Thanks so much !

Your channel is the best thank you
Cheers my friend. Appreciate your support.
witch one has the classic 70s funk lead and the saxophone?
There’s a few spread across a bunch of different packs. You might need to download them all and the experiment.
thank you this helps a lot 🤙🏾🤘🏽
You’re very welcome my friend. I hope you get value from the other videos here on the channel and consider subscribing. 👍
Great video. question, for the audio recorder I see a 1 for more libraries to download, when I go to manage libraries, which one is the audio recorder library addition?
I think the “Watch the Sound” pack is the only one with audio recorder presets. studiolivetoday.com/garageband

Can I do this for live Loops
Hey there. Yes, many of the sound library packs have live loops grids, and you can also use any loops by adding them in manually.
For some odd reason I checked and it looks like GarageBand got another pack but for some reason when I click on sound library it shows only all my downloaded packs and I think it might be a glitch
Yup. It seems it was a bug. I covered it on this video - ruclips.net/video/C4Y3EXTf4Bw/видео.html
Is there way to download other instruments 🥁 into GarageBand
Hey there. Only those included in the sound library packs. Or you can download audio files and import. ruclips.net/video/PBTz8J5LxeA/видео.html
When I record them it sounds completely different that when I just play them on the mixer
That’s odd? The tone or the timing? Maybe quantization is on? ruclips.net/video/2s_wGHVi8kg/видео.html
How’d you get music 2:11
Not sure sorry! Using the sound library in GarageBand??
Yes
But I already have every instrument

Hey there! Not really. The search function works for loops and one shot samples, but there isn't search for GarageBand instruments and synth sounds, etc
I've been trying to get a steel pan drum into garbageband for the longest while. Can you tell me how or where do I get them
Hey there. I’d suggest searching around and finding a sample then importing and using it as a sample or audio file. ruclips.net/video/PBTz8J5LxeA/видео.html
Check indigisounds.com
My pan instrument sample is also available for free at github.com/urbansmash/urbanPan/blob/master/urbanPan/Samples/urbanPan.sf2

Bummer! Go to the keyboard and “other” - you can get your flute on there. ruclips.net/video/q50XavZN8rM/видео.html
can you search for loop packs? i'm not interested in any of the packs that are listed, I'm looking for more strings packs or orchestral.
You’ll need to either use a third party app like iSyphonic or download some free sounds like this. ruclips.net/video/XXplSV3GhrA/видео.html
Hey can you help me bro I have the number 1 on my garageband app when I go to my tracks it has a notification to get more apple loops
Yup. Just go to the sound library and any packs that you haven’t downloaded, Tao in to and download. You will need the latest version of iOS and GarageBand for this.
Where would i fine a good saxophone to download or maybe a trumpet?
“Heavy Brass” app is good for brass. This one is my go-to Sax app. ruclips.net/video/cl6dMPe2kbw/видео.html
Hey Mr. John’s. Do you know of any apps that have a downloadable cymbal roll to add for dramatic effect? Especially from soft to loud?
Hey there my friend. Not that I’m aware of. I would suggest something like this - ruclips.net/video/UX-MZloapSY/видео.html
Or perhaps search for a sound to import - ruclips.net/video/PBTz8J5LxeA/видео.html
I can not see sound library on my ipad garage bad?? Can someone help me.
It will be there. Been there for many many version. Make sure you update to the latest iOS and GarageBand version if you can.

Are the library extensions free or is there any - maybe even hidden - in-app-purchase - especially in terms of those marked with the down-arrow ??
GarageBand and all it’s sound packs are 100% free. It’s Apple’s way of saying “but more iOS devices”. 😎
Want accordion instruments sounds sir ? How to get? Now I use with I phone 11
I would ask over in the GarageBand Users Facebook group. studiolivetoday.com/gbu
Thanks
You’re very welcome my friend. I hope you get value from the other videos here on the channel and consider subscribing. 👍
Does anyone know where the get the samples of music in the previews? Like I heard some good instrumentals and I want to use it.
The previews are made in GarageBand but they don't state which instruments and loops are actually used unfortunately.
Pete Johns oh ok. Thank you.
Pete Johns In the sound library, there’s this one pack called Songwriter drummers. Do you know what the first type of music is called in the preview? Does it remind you of any music that sounds close to it?
where is the *demonic choir* i need it for my dark souls-esque music
There’s a few choir type sounds in the Alchemy Synth that you can tweak. ruclips.net/video/BWU-UfjUdBE/видео.html
Hey Pete! Thanks for your Vids, they're helping loads with writing my music. Now i've come across the issue, that i can't find an ukulele anywhere. Do you know, how i could get one into the App? Thanks

That’s a good idea! I‘ll see if I can find something useful. Meanwhile I’m practicing on playing the real thing 😁
hi, is there better app than garageband that is free now a days?
Nope. Not for iOS or Mac yet. In my opinion.
Thank you.

Hi there. Sound library should just be one of the “instruments” when you are scrolling through adding a new track.
How do you label the keys like that? I never knew you could do that?
Hey there my friend. Here’s a video which shows you how to do this - ruclips.net/video/44-KYdKomA4/видео.html

Hey pete can you help me , I’ve been getting notifications about new sound packs on garage band available to download but when i enter the store i cant find any new ones
Hey there. Make sure you are updated to the latest version of GarageBand 2.3.10 and iOS 14.3. ruclips.net/video/xVF-mb9dUA4/видео.html
Sound Library is not an option for me, it goes from external to piano. I'm using iOS 12.3.1 and GarageBand 2.2.2. Any ideas on how to fix that?
Hey there. Yes, you will need to update your GarageBand to the latest version - 2.3.7.
One question: is this a website you go to? If so, what is the web address? I have tried to access this on GarageBand and I don't see any such place. My Garageband just has a column on the left side of "bass" "drum kit" "percussion" etc with sub-sections. But nothing that looks like this.

I see one I don’t have. It’s a shame they don’t keep up with this more frequently. Just a few times a year.
Would be great to have more sound packs available. I would even pay a few dollars for some premium packs if they went that way.
Man can you do this for logic??
You can indeed. Me? Probably not. I’m a Logic newbie. 😎
Yo vintage drum machines doesn’t appear in GarageBand, is it by chance only in iOS 12?
Hey there. That’s weird. It should be in iOS 11 or 12. Make sure you have the latest GarageBand version (2.3.7)
Aah alright, just checked and it says I need to get iOS 12 to be able to update to the new version
