Out of all of these I've watched, I've never saw a sand blaster. They are handy. I like watching these cause they remind me of me when I was in my 20s. I done that kind of stuff. I'm almost 70 now. Now days if it breaks, you throw it away. Terry
Yeah, throwing away a part of something that can be saved isn't a restoration, and not using primer....and that would be two coats of primer, before painting is also just being lazy. I like that you saved that part of it but if you're gonna restore, then restore the whole thing and not just the parts you feel good about doing.
The only guy I see has a complete portable vice and he throws the handy half away to make it a small perminent vice that makes zero sense when the handy half could be freshened up and made right and kept with the top part of the vice as a portable appendage like it was designed to be. Nice work though
Since you have a lathe, I'd fish that cast base table clamp out of the scrap box. Make a new pad for the clamping screw out of that brass stock you have. Counter bore the pad so that when slipped over the clamping screw you can stake the screw so the pad won't fall off. Or you could drill and tap the end of the clamping screw for a small retaining screw and washer for the pad. A few minutes work with a side grinder and a file should have the clamping surface squared up to fit the work bench correctly. Good video.
I have one about this size on my welding table, it’s amazing how much I use it. If you want a fixed vice it’s a decent restoration, I like that mine is on a clamp. I’m sure some people don’t realise that a lot of metal paints tell you not to put an undercoat on. Things like colour are purely subjective, it’s not for others to say if it’s right or wrong, if you like it it’s right.
It’s yours, so if you’re happy and consider that a finished product then that’s all that matters... it’s ok to disagree, that’s why we’re individuals...
Funny what people pick on. I would have kept the base BUT it’s your vice so it’s your choice. I think you did a good job. I like the way you made new brass washers. I like the colour and I don’t like the way someone made negative comments about it. I’ll say it again, it’s your vice so it’s your choice. Besides it’s not hard to change the colour later. Negative people are dicks. Cheers Stuart 🇦🇺.
Two things, you could have just used a rust/paint stripper wheel or you could have used paint stripper first cause by the looks of it, it took a while. But all in all great job 😁
G r a h a m A brilliant tool. If I had to advise anyone what to buy straight after the basics, such as the aforementioned "thumb detector", I would say an impact driver and torque wrench.
Parker Pascucci and now that you’ve made me re-watch it to see what was wrong with it seeing as I commented on it two months ago I’m even more annoyed. There was nothing wrong with that table clamp, that’s literally the way it would’ve been made. And why do you think he kept it? He threw it in a scrap pile.
That is a nice small vice great video thanks 🍺🍺👍👍👍
I can't believe you threw away the base. That was a good part of the value and uniqueness.
I like that you announced when you won! I hate it when machines win! The soulless bastards! Nice Job.
Luv the metal frab work. Nice job
Every vise needs a nice work bench home! Thank you....
More like a salvage than a true restoration.

Very nicely done. Thanks for the lesson!
Kermit the clamp. Good on you for the the job done your own way, and well.

Cheers

Good job !
Nice result. I like the colour of it.
I like that epoxy/iron shaving mix for the holes!

That part was the whole point of that vice , it's portable lol

Great job 👍👍
Agh I've always wanted a lil vise like this. I'll probably try to make one some day
Very nice work... Thank you for the excellent video...
Nice vice, good work

Glad to hear you kept it and hope to use it!

Very nice👍
5:30 now i want a beer
Thank you for not frying my eyes with your welding.
You did a pretty good job, don't know or want to know where you got that paint, gawd what a color, but it's yours and if you like it that's cool!
good job 👏

Thank you for filtering your welding. I have gotten headaches from others videos that don’t filter. You rock.

What rust remover do you use?

good
Basically a good resto, please use primer on bare metal before paint next time!
hi nice job
next time let oil make his work ( FIND BETTER OIL THAN WD 40 )
and use impact manual screwdriver better than electric one in this case
That paint job...
Test that paint for lead before you dust your work area, and lungs.
Yeah ! Fish the other piece out of the garbage !
Vida nova pro torno
What's the name of this music plz?
impact driver, buy one. (the kind you hit with a thumb detector)

It came out well less the worst color in the world ... ... really, well done
Nunca desechar partes originales
Exacto!!
Music source?
Es una fukung brand 80mm de los años 90?
Why in all these videos d rusty screws comes out so easily, when I try I never met with success :-(

Rust remover= urine? 😊
I literally stopped watching when I saw the wire wheel being used with gloves. It's too uncomfortable because I've seen first hand what can happen lol
To bad he didn't have a vice lol
You lost me when you threw away the table clamp. That was just lazy and totally degraded the “restoration” part of the video.
Giggidygiggidy I can handle a less than pure restoration but hate wasting parts.
Hey he kept the clamp, so go back to getting drunk with Peter Griffin.
Parker Pascucci thanks, I will. I still think this was a shitty, lazy “restoration” though. Thanks for reminding me. 🙄

Not really a resto if you throw half of it away
worst ever restoration of a vice..
jeek ...jerk more like. Let’s see what you can do.
Not so, I've seen much worse.
