I'm about to change the oil on my 09 LTZ 400 for the 1st time. I have the oil and the filter, but I don't have new O rings for the filter. How nessacary is it to change those ? Do we only need to change them if they're worn ? Or should we change them every time ?
That's odd..for me I just have to leave the petcock on the on position which is pointing straight down for it to stay off when the vehicle is off or it floods the carb with gas.
@@blew4200 it is a vacuum operated carb when it is on the on position and it isnt running no gas will come out untill you start it. And the left position is pri which stands for prime it fills your carb bowl full of gas before you turn it on
Kountry Quads definitely! As long as I'm young (under 40) I'll have one! Just requires lots of moving around to slide the solid axle around turns and such.

Powerline Rider I know what your talking about, ive stripped some bolts pretty good like that with the right size socket, its got to hurt it more with the wrong size
So glad you mentioned this, so far no videos have mentioned that. I don't understand why they don't if it's an important step. Do you put the filter in something like a bowl and flood it and let it swim in it, for how much time? then put on right away or let the oil drip off as much possible?
Dude you need to use metric tools. You about stripped the head off the drain bolt , that is NOT how you do it. And those 8 MM oil filter cover bolts I'd use a 1/4 inch drive ratchet next time they are only 96 INCH lbs for torque spec.
I said the metric size at the bottom right and did not have a 14mm available it, if it looks stripped to you this was my first oil change since owning the machine. Its a 15 year old quad what do you expect, its probably the original drain bolt. And i also don't have a torque wrench so I cant do anything about that.
@@PowerlineRider When you hit it with a hammer you just need to make sure its fully on the bolt head , it wasnt. Not being a hater just trying to help you. I have been a mechanic for 15 years. Also I realize you prob didint have a torque wrench, That's why I said use a small ratchet(1/4 inch drive) instead of the bigger (3/8 drive) you used , just so you dont overtighten it.
Hope ur still riding that sweet machine! Support sport machines. Get a new Yamaha if you can ...the only manufacturer making sport machines! I miss Suzuki quads myself. #Raptor700R
make sure when you change your oil filter that the rubber gasket is still there and its in good condition
Jake's Lawncare what if the gasket isnt there?
@@gripnrip61 yeah same thing for me…

Great vid man! Just bought my 07' ltz 400..needed this vid
awesome dude congrats!
@@PowerlineRider question man..what's the prime setting for on the petcock. I'm only used to yamahas
on is all the way down and res is up, left is off

Is there anywhere on the engine that’s you have to put the oil in other than the holding tank
I like how he uses Yamalube for a Suzuki, also I can tell he did this on a Sunday since he seemed to be well dressed.
ThatSuzukiKid Inc it was the cheapest oil at the dealership 😂 and it's just the watch I was wearing a sweatshirt.
i just fill the oil reservoir all the way to they top is that good or bad
That is great gives you more horsepower
@@hunterhasting2304 now that got me goin dude :)
Would you buy a sport quad again? Do you like them better than 4x4 Quads?
Kountry Quads definitely! As long as I'm young (under 40) I'll have one! Just requires lots of moving around to slide the solid axle around turns and such.
Young??? I’m almost 50 and will continue to rip my sport quads till I can’t (broken back and all). I have a utility quad for hunting.

If it's still in good condition, It usually comes down to preference.
@@missysmessage722 thank you Missy
Remember to Drain oil from a warm engine. oil drains much quicker out
Great point
Haha I like how you said Japanese sizes!
Thanks bro, helped a lot👏🏼
What is the Suzuki LTZ 400 oil change interval.
Josef Studecky I do it at the end of the season because I only ride 2-3 hours a month, it all depends how much you run the machine.
Gr8 video step by step u shld do 1 4 spark plugs and brake fluid.
How much oil do I have to put in if I change the filter
you should always change the filter, and its 2.3 to 2.5 quarts. Just fill until it reaches the lines on the dip stick.
Does any know if there 12mm domain drain bolt kept spinning when all the way in?
That means its stripped and the threads will need to be re-tapped
Great video. Deserves a like. But what kind of oil do I fill it up with
10w-40 weight is what i would recommend, i use Yamalube but people use all different kinds like Rotella and whatever.
Ok thank you
what size are your front and rear wheels and tires?
I will pay you $250,000 a year to be my mechanic you sir is a pro.
thank you sir i am certified
Awesome vid and edits and filming and bike and life hack
thank you!
seen it 2 times
i was first gtw and nice vid
thanks!
What do I do if my oil comes out white
that means theres water in it, do the oil change then run it for a while, check if its still white then change it again, repeat the process
Weve got to get you some metric tools ASAP
Sean Vuke I have metric ones they just aren't organized
Powerline Rider just be careful, you'll strip the drain bolt if you smack it like that, and that's not good at all
Sean Vuke yeah I couldn't hold it there
Powerline Rider I know what your talking about, ive stripped some bolts pretty good like that with the right size socket, its got to hurt it more with the wrong size
Do a "How to adjust your valve clearances on a 03-08 LTZ400/KFX400" video
nah
Hey bud just so you know you’re supposed to soak oil filters in oil before putting them in!
i did, just not on video

200 mL if you don't change the filter and if you change the filter 2100
