Steven's approach definitely is helpful in order to show that sometimes it is not necessary to put all your work in the final board, but Oliver's redesigns show exactly how even with too much information you can make a presentation work and imo it's way harder to do. But tbh both approaches are interesting and might come in handy based on the needs of a project.

Amazing exercise! Especially for students or anyone who wants to improve their skills this is perfect, because everyone can feel that ones Presentation Board looks messy but as a beginner you just don't knw how to fix it ! The collaboration between the two of you is also very inspiring, it gives the sense of a healthy community in this otherwise quite competitive domain. Keep up the good work guys!

And what was surprising is that we didn't settle on that before the recording 😀
We only got together first to decide on the boards, and then we each had a couple of days to come up with a new board design. It was only during the actual recording that we revealed the boards to each other haha

You both had fun stroking each other’s egos all the way, it was interesting to watch; above all, highly educative. I learnt a lot. Thanks and cheers 🥂

😂 And I even had to cut out some parts because it was too much hahah
No but really, I genuinely meant all the comments towards Steven's boards. I guess we were trying to be polite to each other and that might've been too much
I'm glad you enjoyed the video, JIYA David Yabagi! Thanks for the feedback

Couldn't agree more! Sometimes you've got amazing drawings and an outstanding project, but the presentation just isn't on the same level... that can hurt how the project is perceived by the client, professor, or jury. Thanks a lot for the feedback, huskieize!

It was so cool to see Steven's approach, some things I didn't even notice. This exercise was so much fun, only a short amount of time to change and redo the stuff that stood out from a first glance.
Thanks a lot for the feedback, Muhammad Rayhan Putra!

Oliver's board was great artistically, and Steven's was great in understanding the project. Fascinating as a narrative, diagramming can give quite different concepts. Congratulations on the work, it adds a lot to me and to many other architecture students!

    • @LearnUpstairs

We only had the JPGs to work with, and since the idea was to take no more than 30 minutes on each board, photoshop was the only tool for the job.
That way we could split the board into multiple drawings and go from there.
We would never use PS to compose boards 😅 haha that's a crime!
InDesign all the way! Well, and depending on the occasion Illustration if it's a single board.
