Recommend first empty old fuel and never try to crank using old fuel. It chemically separates and can damage your engine. Drain the fuel, empty the carb too...then refill with clean fuel and try it. Good luck!
When I was a boy, all our gas engines on mowers, generators, etc., was shut off by the little tab grounding out the spark. You got an oldie but a goodie there.
Great video! Always nice to see an old reliable put back into working order. Good job! Also want to thank you for your video on repairing an entrance door, it saved me a time and money. Keep up the good work!
Have similar unit with the same leaks. Started by replacing fuel shut off (amazed parts available!) and next going to concentrate on carb. Video helps explain what I’m in for.
Just got one for $75 same one your not supposed to have a load on it when your starting it cool now i know how to clean carb and basic maintenance thanks bro!!
To shut off your generator, push down on that little metal tab hanging over the spark plug. This grounds out the plug and shuts off your engine. Great video!
just picked one of these up for FREE, bone dry empty clean fuel tank, all the paperwork, yada yada yada... between you and Mustie 1 I should be up and running over this New Year's weekend, no worries. I'm feelin' this guy, rocking the Crocs and socks, skol!
My generator (Coleman with 8 HP Briggs and 4000 watt generator) been sitting since 2002. I cleaned the carb and tank, new gas, spark plug, fuel filter and oil change. Started after a couple of pulls on the pull cord. All working as intended.
Hey I found one of these on Craigslist for $60! It started and runs and makes power! I just changed the oil and I need to replace the air filter. And I think a new spark plug would help things. I wanted to know where I can get replacement parts.
@@ASliceofWoodWorkshop I will see what number is on the spark plug and see what I can find. That round air filter is hard to find. Do you know how to find a part number on it?
Is there any way to change the muffler on it to make it quieter? Also what type of oil would you use in that? I have the same brand generator but mine is the 4400 version.
Careful, I've had old gasoline gum up a engine to the point where valves no longer open and closed properly. Some were stuck open, wouldn't budge at all.

Just about to strip the carb and see how it goes from there .
I am no mechanic so wish me luck !
Good luck!

Thats an awesome score! Get it running and enjoy
I've had one for 40 years. Amazing. Clean or change carb. Put in clean gas and a good fuel line, always starts.
Thats awesome!
Thank you for your video

Thays awesome. Mine still runs, but looking to start replacing the gaskets just for regular maintenence
Start stop choke is up and shut off is spark plug on top short out.
You should always check the oil before trying to start an old engine.
What did you all the carb in to get it that clean!!!!????
You got it. Thanks.
The 2 120 recepacles are 20 amps each. Rated at 30 amp total. Can a splitter be used in parallel to get 30 amps to an rv?
I wouldn't have messed with it until that old gas was removed.
It's always the carburetor

Amazon is always a good place or a local auto parts store for suff like plugs

Google your model number and you should be able to find a parts list with a number on it, then search for that part number.
I have one exactly like that and they are bulletproof just cleanum and go

Generators in general are noisier. An inverter generator are much quieter but also cost more.
@@ASliceofWoodWorkshop What would I run for oil in my generator? Straight 30 or something else?
Use the SAE 30 oil. May have to google your specific model to find out how much to put in or just add a bit and check it while on flat surface.
Is this model of generator suitable for a 120V welder that draws up to 20A?
It's 33.3 amps at 240 volt and 16 amps at 120 volt
You'd need a constant 4000 watt output to run that welder.
Remove air filter spray starting fluid

That is a really bad scenario. I'm worried what the pressure washer will be like when I work on it this week.
Magneto could be rusted also
It ain't got no gas in it!
🤣, never gets old
Hi
