Too much bla bla and never got to hear the cachinga!!
Agreed
Thanks for the warning. Sooooo many of these videos all they do is woffle, and Americans seem to yadda yadda yadda the most!
Wonder if dude is so slow he hasn’t a clue RUclips videos of this sort are for proof not for bulshiting like he is at the coffee shop telling stories to all the old retired people tht have nothing better to do then listen to his lies. Then laugh and carry on about how stupid he is after he leaves.
So stupid that we didn't get to hear the actual results. Pointless. Guy can sure blab and blab though.
@@whisperinghopebus What are you complaining about 😂😂❓❓
I sure would have loved to hear the difference before and after the glass pack.
That’s because it doesn’t work that’s why he didn’t show you a video and that’s also why he’s in the market to build a soundproof said no because the muffler is only 10% of the noise
It would have been nice
@@michaelweber3369 that's what i thought.
@GROUND POWER GENERATOR thanks for the tip
Need to make this quieter proceeds to install a cherry bomb 🤣🤣🤣
in the army we would dig a generator hole to place it down in to keep its heat signature and sound down :)
When I was in the Army we never worried about heat signatures or noise.........we could never get them to stay running! Baahahaha. Sure don't miss them days. Well maybe a little
I've dug those holes before...lol
Those days.... 🙄 I really don't miss them but I do appreciate them .... I sure would not be doing all this crap to a poor generator
When we used a similar generator at the race track, we built a plywood box to set around it, with the roof open for ventilation, and we stapled scraps of plush carpet to the inside of the box to absorb some of the noise. This made a huge difference in noise.
Well I watched waiting for the sound decibels difference, and got nothing ...
Nothing! Bupkiss!! Nada!!
i have an old honda generator that we take fishin and camping during the winter to run our camper, and its funny cause ive always joked around with my pops about "mounting a car muffler on it". hahah im glad to see someone else thought so to!
You're almost there... replace the flex tube with 3 ninety degree bends and some straight tube and it will improve the decibels even lower... Solid piping is WAY quieter than flex.. Nice job bro!!
Ray Lovett Hello Ray, I put a small Isuzu muffler on my WH7500E Generator that has a knock off Honda clone 12 HP single on it. Was better than most but still way to much noise. The Isuzu muffler made a world of difference but when I replaced the air cleaner with a Toro 322D canister air intake I can actually say it's quiet. My point don't overlook the intake on these small engines when trying to quiet them down. Be we'll.
A muffler that doesn't have a straight threw design will actually make it quiet. People don't put glasspacks on things for silence.
@@addiumuppicus5738 People forget how much sound is intake generated. Auto companies do that with air boxes. They are usually cold air which is good but most can and do choke the air in someway. Only to pass the Fcuking EPA drive by sound test. Open up the airbox of every car you have and start cutting away at any plastic that is blocking airflow. Just Smooth everything out. Smooth is the magic word of the day. You can go crazy and start using sound waves to do other things and get very exotic but just cut all the fcukwad out of the air flow and you'll pick up some hp and improve your mpg.
Sounds better too.
9 and 10 years ago and Now is Wayyyyyy different in Technology and Modifications to further quiet The Sound Level.
Man, that was sure the Quietest generator I've ever heard. 👍
shhhhhhhhh, youll wake it up.
Ive just bought a Petrol Generator 6500w Bohmer Electric - 8HP 3.4KVA Quiet Camping Power ,its said to be the quietest generator at 66db and its possible to get it even quieter with a Webasto diesel heater exhaust and muffler pipe and connecting it to the unit, it’s made it over 25% quieter and also doesn’t effect efficiency or the engine idol
I did what you said about putting it into a small shed. I had an exhaust fan in it with the muffler pipe coming out the box and the generator quit working on me anyway. After all that and that one was my 2nd generator, I went and bought a generac home standby unit. Put it in myself and very few problems since. Solar wouldn't work well at my house, have too many trees and wouldn't change a thing. Love the shade. Yes LOTS of leaves but well worth it.
No before or after. Wasted time watching
Nice to hear the before and after sound from your generator.
Glad I could accommodate you!
I was being sarcastic. You didn't notice that you never once started the engine in the video?
how fast does that thing go in the 1/4 mile?.
LMAO
Probably 5500 watts an hour
LMAO
@Timothy Mckee No no, it has a parachute. It's a requirement when you go too fast.
i threw mine off my roof and it beat a shelby !!!
Very true, its pretty nice where i live in north carolina our neighbors really watch out for one another very religeous community dry county too but they caught some amish growing maijuanna on a farm in Yadkinville lol go figure, thanks for the story about the lawn mower ill have to share that story with my father.
Thanks for your example. Yes! it would have been nice to hear it run before and after. I always wondered if this was possible since my truck's 5.7 Ltr. Hemi just purrrs quietly like a kitten but every two and four stroke small engine will break your ear drums. Everyone seems to think that the back pressure of an automotive muffler will strangle a small engine. I'm sure there are also some auto mufflers that will tone down the volume better than the "cherry bomb" will.
They start a lawn mover as cover...brilliant
Trying to get this out to every one, Auto trick. Exhaust. The longer the pipe after the muffler the quieter the system. Luxury cars muffler up front, muscle cars it is in back. Use this knowledge and pass it on.
Frederick w didnt know that but have owned enough cars to observe that is true. 2nd and 3rd gen trans ams, c4 corvette, 240z, all had mufflers with short tips. more sedate cars and trucks had mufflers upstream. the effect might be noisier but are we sure they didnt do it for fitment/packaging reasons? the cars were so low the mufflers wouldnt fit mid chassis.
not for my big V8 Mercedes Benz, muffler in the back.
Hi mate, just wanted to say thank you for the video. Im in the process of doing something very similar and will throw my generator into an enclosure too.
Still havent made an enclosure for mine. Im waiting for a cheap little tool shed to show up on craigslist.
Make sure you build that generator shed big enough. I tried that one time but I made the shed just a little bit bigger than the generator and even though I vented it real well and put a cooling fan on it it's still overheated
I did something like that I used a motorcycle muffler from an older rice rocket it cut my exhaust noise by almost 2 decibels I got a noise level meter since I'm hearing impaired to measure how loud it really is. It started at about 79 and I cut it to 62 without a shelter, I also directed the muffler straight up that lowered the sound level from the exhaust from about 68, thanks for the video
If you want to make it way quieter than it is with the new muffler you may also reduce the outlet size on the end of your set up it will act as a baffle and quieten it tremendously also get a 6 foot pipe and clamp on the end of that muffler as a tailpipe the longer pipe will quieten it a lot also especially if you coil it up the longer the pipe the quieter it is
I made a steel cable with loop ends. I leave my gen outside garage and run the cable thru it and lock the other end to the garage door rails inside. They cant just come up and grab it for sure. Great idea with the muffler :)
Yeah, and the club on my 70 grand F350 was nothing for a battery powered grinder.... tell me where you live for a free generator...
Air cooled without an enclosure is loud, even with a good muffler. An enclosure designed to properly guide the cooling airflow will do more to reduce noise. A water cooled engine is quieter than an air cooled engine. I picked up a 6kW 3 cylinder enclosed diesel and it sounds more like a car at fast idle, which I use for small concerts to power the stage.
I like your video . I await to see what you are building for it and to see it run and see the difference in sound. Good work .
aim your exhaust strait up high as possible twelve feet or more will help!
above ear level
Thanks for posting the video. When the state built a new Conway Hospital in Monroe the walls and ceiling in the mechanical rooms on each floor were covered with perforated sheet metal. It was amazing how much quieter it made those rooms. Very little sound could be heard out in the hallway. I'm thinking of trying to make a "muffler box" using pegboard. I've picked up some ideas watching your video that I'm going to incorporate in my project.
I've actually thought about building a mini-house/shed for mine with sound proofed "walls".
Did you? If so bet it worked better than this hack job.
@@Physco219 i did, but still loud
Hack job?? My feelings you hurt! Mean you are!
Cool video. Thank you. I made my Generac 7500 4db quieter just by using Royal Purple oil. It is still loud at 86db, but not bad for just using good oil.
That is amazing that oil would have that much difference.
The only thing about genset noise aint so much the exhaust, but 3600 RPM of rotating and reciprocating mass. After adding the cherry Bomb, a 10 dBa reduction (95 to 85 dBa) is still less that 1/2 the noise of the original setup, though...
Bill McKinney yep! I would suspect that is what motivates honda (class leading for quiet) to use the plastic ohv components in the EU2000. Some people complain of predicted durability issues but they must have a reason.
Wow, that was the quietest gas generator I've ever heard.
If you’re not making a living as a comedian, you missed your calling. That was not only original, but hilarious.
I just got a generator today and it is LOUD!
Well look who I find with the great idea.
I better get back to watching the video....
I don't know why I just now saw this comment. If I had to do this again, I would have gone to a junk yard and pulled the muffler off a small car.
I have two generators. 1 - Onin gasoline, and one generac portable gas on wheels. Both about 7KW. The 8 year old generac has a similarly tiny muffler. BS muffler like most gensets. obnoxiously loud.
The Onin gas genset is 35 years old. It is in A trailer. The Muffler is - external - looks like a small car muffler.. The one end of the muffler rotted out so most of the exhaust does not go through the muffler. This OLD Onin is STILL slightly, but notticably quieter.
I used a stainless muffler from a KIA...works great and my junk man gave it to me..

This is exactly right. When you're the only one on your lane with lights on, your home sticks out like a sore thumb.
Thank you, bctruck, I have this same Electric Generator, I will take your advice. I don't expect it to be as quite as a mouse, not as noisy is enough for me. Seeing your modification helps me a lot, thanks again. Bill, ease up, get some sleep, life is short, you went too far off the deep end on this, take it easy or don't modify your Coleman Electric generator.
Great video, very good advice on stealing a generator with a lawn mower, pure damn evil.
hazmatops lol
I have the same old generator. It is GAWDAWFUL noisy. Great idea. Thanks
LMAO,I thought I was the only one who did bizarre things like this...I was hoping for a before and after sound clip..oh well.
My generator is a 5000 watt Onan. Early 70's I believe. I'm going to have to weigh it. It's heavy. Great job thanks for sharing
Thanks!
That's a super good idea I think I'm gonna copy this but it is a bit ugly I wanted to enter mine in a generator show its like a car show but with generators
Well you would certainly want to go with the chrome pipe and bejeweled muffler.
BCtruck, rebuild, repair,repurpose
I certainly will do that great video by the way I got a powermate 3250 and that darn thing is super loud I'll definitely copy you're idea thanks alot
+wahiawabound808 I won the 2002 show with my spinner wheels that fans and cools as well as looking groovy.
Tony Iocca
Wow cool Tony with spinners that's even more cool ha ha ha good job man
Found another way to annoy my neighbors. Thanks for the idea, mate.
By the way...by far one of the best videos I've seen! Thanks for your expertise and time telling all of how to do your generator sound modification. Really helpful!
Living in the Caribbean hurricane ally, almost everyone's knows this trick. Nice work....
You have the right idea but i think it would be much quiter with a stock muffler from somethin like a honda civic or similar.
+Will Hammer It was I had at the time. I was also concerned about slowing the exit of the exhaust. If I come across a free muffler from a small car,ill try it.
Will Hammer.....u don't want too small a pipe as u will end up with too much back pressure and loose power. Besides a glasspack will absorb more noise then baffle muffler with a small engine like this.
Nomad Wizard No you won't. Did you see the exit pipe from the head to the muffler? It's maybe an inch....maybe. A 2 inch muffler isn't going to create back pressure. Also exhaust velocity is what is lost and causes power drop. Back pressure is not.
thats true. i used it because it doesnt restrict airflow. you can overheat an aircooled engine very easily by restricting exhaust.
I think that's a great idea. - but why use a cherry bomb ? They are made for minimal muffling & more noise. Wouldn't you have had more muffling success with a standard tractor tube muffler like for a farmall cub?
I used what I had and what I could afford at the time.
BCtruck, rebuild, repair, repurpose, I understand. Sorry if I sounded condescending, I was just wondering. Good idea nonetheless.
it might help keep the mice out
I stuffed 4 wheeler mufflers with steel wool, like that. It worked really well!
mlang52 hi
Thanks
10db difference is about 1 tenth as loud. Logs and stuff. Nicely done.
Nice design, but it would have been nice to "actually" hear it running rather than just a statement of 85db.
Yes it would. If I could go back in time, I would have waited until the next day to upload the video after I cranked it. It is what it is.
I did the same thing about 5 years ago using one of my two stock quiet mufflers I took off my Harley Davidson Electra Glide that have been sitting in the corner of my garage for about ten years. I used two 4 inch muffler clamps to clamp it to the frame of my 3500 watt Champion generator. My flex pipe was about an inch and a half in diameter. Then I zip-tied a 8-inch fan to the frame and plugged into the generators A/C outlet to blow air on the cylinder head.
I went another route with a much larger generator. Check out how quiet this is. ruclips.net/video/qpObcOM89t8/видео.html
🤣🤣🤣🤣" I have a decibel meter on my wife's phone." 🤣🤣🤣🤣
There's an app for that?!
omg i have been watching youre stuff for over 12 years ago!
Dang! We got old!!
Great video... one might also consider digging a dedicated generator hole, which would yield much, much lower decibel levels! Plus the hole would provide better theft prevention, as the hole could be disguised with a small, fake dog house or a decorative mini, wooden wishing well (or whatever else one's imagination can think of)! If going the stealth/below ground route... I would strongly recommend adding a wireless remote start, as well as some type of wireless remote car alarm that comes with a remote pager or an alarm than can alert back to a cell phone! Remote starts and remote pager/cell phone alarms are fairly inexpensive and listed all over popular online auction sites these days =)
YEAH, bits and pieces...
It's workin 👍👍👍WOW❗❗❗
How precious. You thumbed up your own comment. Wow!!
I have owned cars that the muffler is mounted to the body of the car. flex pipe is used to aloud the engine to move while the mufflers do not. My first XKE Jag, was like that, as many others. With the flex pipe you could mount the muffler to the frame. Trust me my gen-set has run out in the barn for 3years with no problem. Just FYI, for a buddy .
Great ingenuity. Most gen noise'll make ya deaf. Honda's are an exception but lottsa money. Thanks for the vid.
I do believe IF you will point the exh. tube straight up above the roof of your shed, it will make it much quieter. Because the sound goes up up up and the ears hears it much less. We did this at a Military base many years ago. Let us know if you do it, and if it helps. Thanks for for your RUclipss.
Forget the sound proof shed, they work great don't get me wrong, but a pain to build . I've tried every method you can think of over the years and the BEST by FAR, is using a hole in the ground with a pipe inserted (the pipe has many holes drilled to vent exhaust into the surrounding sand/soil. Also a burried AC junction box (the kind filled with fiberglass) does an even better job. When you need to run the gen you just hook up to your burried "muffler" lol and your off and running.
Would have been better if u let us hear difference and crank it
woww thats super quiet!! im amaze by your invention!!!
Thanks!
85 dB is still very loud.
A dB reduction of 10 means 1/1k of the sound. 10 times for each 3.2 dB. So a total of 1000 reduction.
And inside of an enclosure, it would be legal to operate in Residential Areas in most locations.
Thanks! Im looking for a bigger muffler now. ill see if i can make it even quieter and this time ill show it running before and after.
Also, using a stock muffler from a small car would likely quiet it down even more without
causing any increase in restriction.
Imagine a sports exhaust on that. XD
The sound DOES NOT COME FROM THE EXHAUST! Mufflers WON'T do it
bctruck , that's a great idea with the muffler and I was thinking . When your done with the generator shed and taking the flex tubing outside and yes I did this when I was younger, but it works . Dig a hole 2 to 3 feet round and 3 or 4 feet deep , make sure the flex tubing is half way down hole, then get some plywood and cut two or three holes , one cut for the flex tub and one or maybe two smaller hole for the exhaust.
would like to have heard it run!!!
Yeah, what a gyp !
great idea. I had a buddy do something like this and in the end he ran the exhaust down into a chamber below the ground so the dirt muffled much of the noise.
After listening to you talk for six minutes, you could’ve at least let us hear the machine run for 15 or 20 seconds. Can’t help but think that you’re not being truthful about the sound level.
alrighty then.
That's because it didn't do anything. Adding a muffler doesn't quiet it down any.
Does so.
Excellent video and great advice. This id what I'm gonna try. One of my idea but nice seeing it work first! I really don't know why so many thumb down. And interesting about the ghetto tactics in hurricane area--Louisiana..
dammit you owe me 6 minutes dude! NO DEMO??
Ok! Ill pay you for 6 minutes! How much is 6 minutes of basement time on your moms computer worth?
It looks like you have lots of fun building stuff.
Why don't these companies make a better noise reduction system for these generators. Put them on as a standard equipment.
My guess is cost. They couldn't make as much money that way. ;)
bugs181 What they could do is sell an accessary kit that does the same thing.
That would be an extra sale for a quieter unit.
John T. Ralston Jr. why not just charge extra, and make more money i'd pay it. I mean fuck these things are loud.
Mike Miller Surprisingly no-name manufactures are very cost-effective. You can buy those mini four wheelers that are manufactured in Honda/Yamaha factories, but without the brand label for a fraction of the cost. They average around the $500 USD amount, however a Honda of the same would be multi-thousand dollar. Same motors and everything. Parts from either work as OEM replacements for one another. I own one of each and they are identical.
+John T. Ralston Jr. ... the more quiet something is the closer you will allow it to be to you for a longer period of time... weird sort of safety thing having loud generator that you must put far away and fumes and risk of electrocution are lessened ... bet they had the corporate lawyers chime in on that one ;-) plus like other people say, they can sell you an option and give you more safety recommendations in that "optional" box too LOL all in an effort to cut THEIR liability and reduce THEIR risk ... you gotta start thinking like a greedy capitalist to understand those fvckers. be well and have a great day my good friend.
My Generac 5500 (loud!) is already in an 8x10 tool shed in the back yard. The shed has vents at the peaks front and rear. But I still keep the front doors open for air flow. But the doors directly face the back of the house. However, I'm definitely going to route the exhaust out of the shed with the same kind of flexible exhaust tubing shown here. I'm also going to replace the hard plastic wheels with air-filled rubber wheels, and get some thick rubber pads for the metal feet in front. I also plan to add an awning window to the back of the shed. This way, I think I'll be able to close the front doors and open the rear window so that the unit gets enough fresh air. What I've read is that most of the noise comes not from the exhaust, but from the block. Your cherry bomb muffler looks very cool, though!
I e totally gone another route. I have a 9500 watt Westinghouse now. I have it in a plastic shed and hooks into my sun panel. It’s remote start so I dont even have to go outside to crank it. If your interested, just google bctruck quiet generator shed.
Super quiet.
Since you used humor, I’m going to tell you why I uploaded the video without starting it when I finished the project, my plan was to take it outside and start it. However, it started sleeting out and I hate cold with a passion. I hate cold so much that I left my home in Connecticut at the age of 16 and went to Florida. My plan was to wait until it warmed up just a bit to start it, but it didn’t. At the time, I was a long haul trucker and had to leave for my 3 weeks tour. I decided to upload the video without starting it because I knew I would be gone for 3 weeks and had nothing else to upload. Now, all these years later, I’m retired and living on social security. My Adsense money from youtube fills in the cracks where my SS doesn’t. This is one of my highest viewed videos and I leave it up for three reasons. One, the view count helps my channel rise in the youtube stats they use to determine your worth to potential advertisers. Second, this video alone generates about 1200 a year for me in additional income and third, based on some of its comments, it has truly been a window into the mass consciousness of a spoiled narcissist and self centered world. Have a nice day and thank you for making your point using humor. I understand it’s a disappointment to not hear it run, but now you know why.
Super quiet
Das kann ich mir nicht vorstellen.
Ohne Motor Schalldämpfung.
@@renek2050 er scherzte, weil ich es nicht angefangen habe. Es wird Sarkasmus genannt.
@bctruck I'm looking forward to the shed video. There isn't much information here on youtube about making a noise enclosure for a generator. I got a 6500w genny that I'm looking to build an enclosure for. I need to figure out how to make it secure as well as quiet. I also want to elevate the foundation slightly to keep it dry in the event of a flood. Ah well. Take care of yourself.
So, it only took ten years to get to the shed project!😂😂
Cinder blocks, all stacked inline, so you have hollow holes running vertically. Fill the tubes with sand and pack it down, maybe add a little mortar between the blocks, but that is optional... totally soundproof.
That sounds like the easiest way to go.
BCtruck, rebuild, repair, repurpose used the same method to make a recording studio for music. I went from around 90 db inside, and with minimal dampening foam, to 0 outside.
There has to be air flow genius, or the motor will overheat.
lmdetect yep, If you build a sound proof building, then you’re gonna have to have a fan blowing on the engine to keep it cool as it’s air cooled. Otherwise it burns up.
LOL, just got to your part about the shed.....awesome.
I was also curious about the backpressure created by adding an additional muffling system. Did you look into any alternative mufflers that might have been quieter without restricting exhaust flow? I have a 5kw Briggs that's about 76 db, and would like to get it down to the mid 50 db range, but as you pointed out, such a restricting muffler might encroach on flow. Thanks Tom.
that sure does not look like it restricts flow, quite the opposite, in fact how about using 2 inline?
If you have a garage you can vent the generator exaust and ventalation air out the back wall. Simple box for generator inside garage. Easy access, warm matinance
Freezing weather in north Louisiana? So the temperature dropped to what 65 degrees.
that is funny, while i sit in wisconsin.
Its a good idea! Hope someday you crank it up! God bless you and your family
I used it in lots of subsequent videos to run my welder.
That sounds like you did pretty good ...

I understand his thinking...I moved my generator to the woods on the other side of my pond in a camo dog house. I ran flex pipe about 4 feet into the pond and its wonderfully quiet. I direct buried cable to the basement with the automatic switch....Barely audible...The generator is about 6 feet above pond level...Downside is I have to replace the flex pipe often due to rusting
this guy reminds me of hank from king of the hill
i welded a flange onto the original muffler and added flex pipe to it and then the muffler. you are correct.
i would love to have one but ill have to wait till my male modeling career takes off before i can afford one. ;)
I can’t believe this guy didn’t start this thing. What the hell good is this video if you don’t start it and let people hear it.
Omega1 this guy did start it but deleted the video when he realized his decibel meter wasn’t working. He will refund your money. Email him.
BCtruck, rebuild, repair,repurpose
What the hell. Your statement makes no sense.
can you put the second muffler in series with the first - that is, just attach it onto the end of existing muffler? Or is that too much back pressure?
lol ... must be run parallel or the ohms will drop!
HawgNSonsTV2 if you run it in parallel, the ohms will drop dramatically. gotta run in series.
We put the exhaust pipes into a pit in the ground. Worked pretty well.
you need welding tips and tricks
Whatever, it's not really structural, I think he will be ok
it works great. i used it today to power a compressor that powered my spray gun so i could stain my chicken house. its not whisper quiet, but its a whole lot quieter than the original muffler.
If you look up ....shit...I forgot his name. He's the old God of engine builders. Vizzard! That's it. He came out of the aerospace industry and started hot rodding cars. His documentation is epic. Like EPA epic. That's how good his shop is. He did a major test for a company to prove to the EPA their product worked. 5-7 months long. Multiple custom built engines for the test. Incredibly boring tear downs and measurements, then back on the dynos where they ran for months on end. He also invented the turbo muffler for Edelbrock and a shit load of other things we take for granted.
He did much testing to find the perfect anti reversion chamber. Not a muffler but it looks like one.
It prevents the exhaust sound waves from going back through the engine.
It also prevents the burned exhaust gas slug from shooting back up the intake.
On some engines the hp increase below the curve is freaking amazing.
A single cylinder thumper could be the perfect engine to experiment on with those slow big slugs getting pushed down the pipe then getting sucked back up. This would mute the sucking up part.
Google anti reversion chamber to see the diagram. Very simple design.
So to make it quieter you add a Cherry Bomb muffler?
WTF?
Ya it was totally silent
Bury a 45 gallon drum pipe it in
Oh yea, I quieted mine with some great foam in a doubled wall crate I built out of scrap wood from pallets. Leave opening for air, cooling and breathing.
We have just got a load of pallets for the wood burner, be careful, I've never had wood that burns so easily and fast.
we can produce endless amount of energy and clean water by electrolysis of sea water then take the hydrogen alone to high attitude where we combine it with atmospheric oxygen and drop the water on hydraulic generator from this high attitude as in dams
Tee Rak Your a very smart person! I like what you have to say! Thanks for sharing!
Tee Rak don't talk about it do it I want to see it make something I can put on the side of my house is going to make my whole house run off of it that's a good ideal
I would like to hear it run, with and without the extra muffler. Nice video btw.

Compared to modding one of these to be as quiet, and still not as powerful, reliable and efficient... The cost is marginal. Unless you never actually use it much, then buying any generator is a waste of money. You want cheap, go without power, you save 100% and reduce your hidden costs of toting around tons of powered devices and gas and packing, down to 0% extra costs.
People lived without power for 315,000 years... I am sure we can all survive a weekend, or month, or year, without it... After all, we are more "advanced"... So advanced, that we can't live without everyone-else doing stuff for us... Giving us jobs, food, medical treatment, social-security, power, water, clothes... Ironic, we seem to be returning back to the point where ancestors from 315,000 years ago are smarter than us... Less then 0.01% of us know how to make fire... Back then, they all could make fire! Without lighters and gasoline!
Just spend the extra money... It is totally worth it. You rarely see videos on how to fix them, or make them better, because they are already perfect. There is a reason why they sell 8000% more than all these other brands. There is a reason that all these other brands keep trying to copy them. (Key-word is TRYING, then failing, and having to offer them for less, because no-one would pay more for it.)
But hey, if you got the time, the extra money and the skill to make fire without gas and lighters... Then go for it!
+NoesisAndNoema ... What?!?! Just pay Honda $1,000 for 1800w when I can get 10,000+ watts for less.
Reminds me when back in 1989 Lexus LS400 came out with a Mercedes beater for 30% less money. So now it's a matter of finding the diamond in the rough and there are a handful of good competitors, just do some research and get a good warranty.
Honda makes great generators but their design is getting dated as now dual fuel is a good idea with the crappy ethanol infused gas getting bad in just a couple weeks. The closest ethanol free station is 30 miles round trip from me so propane is the way to go. Propane is the trend and until Honda steps up I'll put my money somewhere else.
I have a 8750 Watt Honda. It is ear-splitting loud. You must be thinking of their inverter generators, which are MUCH quieter, smaller, and horribly expensive. Their 2 -3 K will not be much help in a hurricane.
Brilliant! I've been wanting to do the same thing and now I know how. Coincidentally, my generator was stolen last week. The exact same model as yours...but I live in Washington so I'm not too suspicious. : >) When I get my new one I will do like you did...AND anchor it to the concrete foundation in my shed!
Let me add a word of warning ! the exhaust is engineered to dump heat from combustion quickly ! by adding exhaust restriction you will cause a radical jump in engine temp..
TheEspJames nope
Correct... if having a muffler to lower noise were the solution, manufacturers would build them with muffler included.
I think he'll be fine. That tube he added is like 3x the diameter of the engine's exhaust
Place the end of flexible pipe to the bucket of water.then see result.
Thanks for video.
that is extremely sloppy
38 to 4. We have a winner
Paul B Im not seein it if his goal was merely piping a muffler off it. You could say its not terribly effective or call it hillbilly engineering but for what it is I would say it looks tidy and will probably outlast the generator.
Ur mum is as well m8
Holy crap!! That lawn mower story!!
Good video tip... also freezing cold in Louisiana is anything below 70 degrees :)
At 65, im wearing a jacket and hat,
An exhaust pipe pointed vertical will do more than a pipe pointed down. even off the ground waves bounce where if you point it up they have nothing to bounce off of and in most case can make it hard to even tell if the engine is even running
