Since when are work-skills ALL one needs, to be a successful adult? Since never, that’s when! He’s 52 or 53 years old, and can’t learn basic English Grammar so that he can model it for his two young children? If he can memorize his comic routines, he can learn the basics of English grammar, instead of making half-baked excuses! What (good) parent doesn’t want better for their children? THEY weren’t born on the East Coast in Goombah, New Jersey!
I would say that your speaking style reflects the area you grew up. It is a regional dialect. The way you speak is colorful and interesting. Family members are always going to be critical as a way to make themselves feel relevant. Please don't change your "Lexicon". You guys are great and very entertaining.
I agree that a person's speaking style has a lot to do where that person grew up. A lot of people ask me where I'm from due to my accent and speaking style
Dont forget parents, my cousin has the same cadence and Style as His mother. For example.
I always noticed your poor grammar - wondered how a guy so well off missed basic grammar - didn’t comment before because you have done well in your life - and you just never fine tuned your grammar. Your children WILL notice this soon as they will call you out on it at some point. I always thought Lana would drop a few hints. If you never change so be it.

Just one 'would you' is good enough. As far as the special - honestly I think the ending was a little too much for me - I would have ended it differently -
And Sebastian looked and felt very uncomfortable in that suit - as he admitted it - that was another fallback.
Allltogether - the special was not as funny as the previous ones - that's for sure - maybe because of the pandemic hiatus in the live shows - don't know.

i've never heard anyone say would you would've! LOL. It's "would you have gotten". Your sister is talking about saying "He don't" when that should be "He doesn't". But your speech adds to your character. . . . I love it.
Which/What would you have had? Would you have had meat or fish? It is easy to see why people are confused by our English grammar, so many different ways to say something!

A heated toilet seat is the best gift. So thoughtful, Pete you heard your wife, saw she wasn’t going to buy it herself, and purchased the item for her. Plus think of the laughs Christmas morning. I have to say the day we got our heated seat was the best decision ever. I loved Sebastians comments about his own. And being perturbed about when there isn’t a heated one ( haha don’t want to say toilet). I think the gifts you bought your wife are excellent! specially because of the story behind both. Stocking stuffer “socks”… everyone needs them and they need replacing. Pete you are so funny! You would do well on a comedic improv show. Your mind comes up with the funniest shit.
I like when Sebastian talks about serious stuff that actually we are all dealing with and it helps to know someone thinks about it too. It’s okay to mix it in with the humor. ❤️

I think regardless of the "gotten" or not, the correction you guys were looking for is replacing the "would've" with just "have". "Would you have done this or that?". "Would you have gotten the chicken or the fish?". You guys are awesome. Keep on keepin' on.

"Special" is the operative word for your #Netflix special! It was special & fabulous! You have done so much 4 my family. My son who you (sebastian) met in Saturday and you told him to "let his beard grow to his nipples!!" (my son is 15 and autistic and has a lot of facial hair lol) I told you & Dr Cohen that my son Joshua had a TSA agent tell my son during our Thanksgiving travel, that my son needs to shave bc he looks older than 15 years old (and this agent was very stern & nasty about it)... and that made my son feel so self conscious about how he looks!! It broke my heart! But Sebastian you gave this kid such confidence after telling him: "you are Italian! You let your beard grow to your nipples!" My son is walking tall and loved hearing this from Dr Cohen & Sebastian!! Joshua being autistic has had a very tough time and that's so hard as a parent. Sebastian, you've changed so many lives and have given SO many ppl the gift of laughter. You've done more than i can tell you (for me and my son) If I were the Pope, I would give you 'Saint' status!! Listen again. Pete says: "Would you would have gotten the fish or the chicken?" -- making it worse by inserting "gotten," as even Sebastian recognized. As an ESL teacher, you don't got this! (ha). As a reader / writer / journalist / editor / grammar nazi, I got this!

Language is like having a set of tools. Using the right word to convey the emotion, the story, the idea is easier the bigger your tool box is, not the bigger your word is. Sebastian is right, its people , as well as good books that introduce one to a broader vocab.

Thank you for this episode! I would say: "Would you have had the steak?" or "Would you have gotten the steak?" or "Would you have gone to the store?" Also, people say "I would have went..." instead of the grammatically correct "I would have gone..." A lot of people also do not use subject-verb agreement well, e.g., "One of the questions were about ..." instead of the grammatically correct "One of the questions was about ..." Yes, immersive environments with well-versed folks would help, along with increasing one's reading habits. Love the 'cast! 🙂
