What is the shape and volume of different Formula 1 tires and how does it help it achieve its purpose? How does different downforce setups in Formula 1 cars affect the acceleration patterns in an Formula 1 circuit? Thanks!
I have a lot of students trying to do F1 IAs. The shape and volume of the tires is ok, but it doesn't seem like it has a lot to build off of, unless you are trying to carve out the rim, axel, etc. (I'm not a car guy so hopefully you get what I'm trying to say.) That said, doing volume is a nice extension to a SL IA. It used to be in the curriculum and why it was removed is beyond me. But it isn't too difficult to explore how to do that mathematically. The downforce and acceleration might be a bit trickier. You will have to rely on a lot of F1 data and what I have seen is that with my students, it is often difficult to get the data that you really need or they don't really know what to do with all this complex data once they get it. If you can get, decipher and interpret the data AND be able to apply it accordingly, then this could also be a good topic. Good luck!

Hello. While gambling is always a fascinating topic, I think for IAs it is very limited in scope. I think if you ask yourself the questions around the 13:00 minute mark, I think you'll find that this question will be pretty "closed" and that there won't be a lot of depth or extensions to your question. However, I found that t-test is not in my textbook or the IB guide. Was it removed from the IB math syllabus? Or, if it is not in the syllabus, can I still use it in my IA?
It's ok to use content that is not in the curriculum, as long as it's "commensurate" with the course. That means on the same "level" of complexity and sophistication of the course. T-tests are a great extension for statistics and probability. If you understand the p-value then the T-test isn't too much of an extension for you. I hope that helps.

Hey I am writing a math ia in my aa class. Could you please check it out and let me know if it's acceptable?
"To what extent can diverse playing styles among soccer forwards optimize goal-scoring efficiency?"
@@HaroldPinzon It sounds very broad and grandiose. Remember this isn’t an EE, so you don’t need to go that big. The focus needs to be the _mathematics used_ not a big analytical piece.
Your focus should be what math am I going to use? How am I going to use it? And how will I adjust my thinking and/or processes based on my mathematical approaches/results.
My recommendation is to go back through the video again and go through the idea generation process. Don’t just jump in with topic idea. Let one come from your brainstorming, word association, organizing, and summarizing.
Good luck!
