- Join me as I take the DJI Neo drone out for a day of aerial photography over the stunning Sussex countryside! Originally bought to enhance my vlogging and pinhole photography, this drone has quickly sparked a whole new interest in drone photography, or "droneography." In this video, I’ll show you some of my favorite shots from the day, including breathtaking views of the River Cuckmere, the iconic Long Man of Wilmington, and the peaceful meanders flowing toward the sea.
From experimenting with the drone's different modes to capturing moody, black-and-white shots, this shoot was a learning experience full of surprises and unique perspectives. If you’re curious about starting with drone photography or just want to see some beautiful countryside views, join me on this journey! And stay tuned for my thoughts on the DJI Neo as a beginner’s drone for photography and the exciting future I see with aerial photography.

It is not the technology, primarily, moreover what you are able to do with this. And that’s exactly what you very well showed in this post.
The process of finding nice locations, good conditions, photographic feel, and positioning the drone on the right angle, height and speed.
This proofs that the little Neo is very well capabable to make photo art yourselves, and you are inspiring your followers. Well done, hope to see more nice work, interesting area.
Thank you very much, I really appreciate it 😊
This is a great drone that punches above its weight, literally!
Nice! :)
Thanks! 😄
Really enjoyed this drone into video and how you use the drone in your other videos. The perspective is a whole different world, which is part of its' facination. Keep those batteries charged!
thank you, it should hopefully start getting used to film more of the vlogging videos, but is a great fun piece of kit, and yes, need to remember to have fully charged batteries 😀
Somehow I totally missed this video! Looks like you're gonna have a lot of fun with your little Neo :-)
Yeah, going to enjoy getting out with this 😁
I've been wanting to get back out with a digital camera again, this is a bit more fun than a normal digital camera😆
Really nice images …..God bless enjoy your journey. Thanks for sharing
Thank you very much, really appreciate it, God bless.
Beautiful Film
Thank you, I appreciate it 😊
Thanks Will, I know the area very well and I hope to be there soon with my drone to do some footage. Really enjoyed your work.
Excellent, thank you very much, it is a stunning location and loads of beautiful areas for the drone, look forward to exploring more with the drone myself.
@WillGudgeon True Will, I've done astrophotography there twice, stood all night to get great shots.
Really like every one of the photos Will, the way you composed them and the softness 👍
Thank you so much 😀
Will, I really enjoyed what you created from the NEO. I look forward to more amazing photos from you soon. .
Thank you, I will definitely be out again capturing images soon.
I will be uploading more to my blog www.willgudgeon.com
It a slightly different direction to what I normally do, but enjoying the process.
You coaxed some nice photos and footage from your Neo. So many samples I’ve seen have blown out highlights and muddy shadows. I suppose the cloudy landscape here pairs well with the Neo’s lack of dynamic range lol!
Thank you, and yes the dynamic range on the Neo is not great, so overcast days certainly do better for images.
Thank you for the great video! How many batteries did you use on this video? Is it true that the battery flight time is very short?
I used all 3.
2 I didn't use up completely, flight time is around 7-8 minutes each battery which for what I use it for is fine.
There is a non genuine larger battery available which should apparently give around 20-22 minutes of flight time, I am tempted to buy and test.
Very nice photos.
But if you are going to be adding a controller isn't it better just to get a mini 4K instead?
The thing is to have the option to not use a controller, and the portability. Those 2 are the advantages (IMO) over the Mini 4
@Angarsk100 I get that, but to take photos from a decent height, you need to get the controller.
I brought the Neo for the Quickshots and not having to use a controller when out making videos, I added the controller as an extra, but since getting I have started to enjoy it a lot flying it manually.
I think the neo is just a gimmick. The image quality is not as good as the mini 2 or the mini 4k.
For its price, I highly recommend the mini 4k. Better wind resistance, longer flight time, good video and picture quality, has a memory card slot, lots of aftermarket lens filters, the battery of the mini 1, 2, 2se, is compatible with the mini 4k. The only thing missing is it has no object tracking "follow - mode".
The only real reason why I would buy a neo is its capable of flying in FPV in manual mode, "fun factor".
but for quality images and videos, I'd still go with the mini 2, and the 4k. -again for the same price as the neo
100% agree. I've got a few DJI drones including the Neo. It's great for taking short clips on trips with the family, without having to slow the whole group down while I take 5 minutes to sync a controller etc, but it's main value to me is as a nice durable FPV that I can teach the kids manual flight with. It's also the only drone I own where my instinct is to LAUGH when I crash it, rather than my stomach turning.
I didn't think I'd enjoy the motion controller either, but it's such an easy way to fly, my wife is illiterate with tech usually but she was shooting gaps in trees with it on her first ever drone flight! 😂

Yes i'm aware it's a J and not a G
I can only apologize for my pronunciation 🙄🤣
