- In a tribute to Chris Cornell, Peter Frampton plays a cover the Soundgarden song "Black Hole Sun" live in concert at the Masonic Auditorium in San Francisco, California on August 15, 2023. The cover is mostly instrumental but features a vocal bridge using the talk box effects pedal. Black Hole Sun appeared on Soundgarden's fourth studio album, Superunknown (1994). It reached Number 2 on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks Chart and became one of the band's best known songs. Frampton released a cover of Black Hole Sun on his thirteenth studio album, Fingerprints (2006), and often plays the song in his live sets
Peter Frampton is a Grammy winning singer, songwriter, and guitar player from Kent, England. Joining him onstage were Rob Arthur (keyboards), Adam Lester (guitar), Alison Prestwood (bass), and Dan "Wojo" Wojciechowski (drums). This was one of the final nights of his Never Say Never Tour, so named because he had vowed to stop touring after the auto-immune disease Inclusion-Body Mitosis prompted him to schedule his farewell tour in 2019.

Peter Frampton official bio:
Peter Frampton remains one of the most celebrated artists and guitarists in rock history. At 16, he was lead singer and guitarist for British band the Herd. At 18, he co-founded one of the first super groups, seminal rock act Humble Pie. His session work includes collaborations with such legendary artists as George Harrison, Harry Nilsson, David Bowie, Jerry Lee Lewis, Ringo Starr, John Entwistle and many more. He worked closely with Cameron Crowe on his Oscar winning film, Almost Famous-as a technical advisor, writing music for fictional band Stillwater and making a cameo as Humble Pie’s road manager. In 2007, he won a Grammy for Best Pop Instrumental Album and in 2014 was inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame. He played an integral part in the 50th anniversary celebration of the Beatles’ arrival in the U.S. by performing on “The Night That Changed America: A Grammy Salute to The Beatles.” Frampton’s 2016 album Acoustic Classics featured stripped-down versions of his hits including “Baby, I Love Your Way,” “Lines On My Face,” and “Show Me The Way." He received the prestigious Les Paul Innovation Award from NAMM’s TEC Awards in 2019 and his album All Blues was No. 1 for 15 weeks on Billboard’s Blues Chart. In 2020 Frampton was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame, his autobiography debuted on The New York Times Bestsellers list, and his 2021 album saw widespread critical acclaim. Last fall, a sold-out show at London’s Royal Albert Hall was filmed and airs on PBS as part of their Pledge Drive. After 46 years, Frampton’s relevancy has not waned in the least.

I've had the pleasure of seeing Peter Frampton 4 or 5 times over the years, the first time in my late teens, and am looking forward to seeing him this coming March at the age of 66. Wonderful musician with a wonderful stage presence. You always leave one of his shows with a smile on your face.

I'll be 67 in a month. I was blessed at 11 to go to my first concert up the road from the peninsula in SF. It happened to be at candlestick Park of all places where the Giants played. Who knew on that day in 1968 it would be the last performance of The Beatles live. Over the years in San Francisco or Oakland I have seen them. Zep, the Who, the Stones, the Doors, Clapton. But Peter...Peter played it with feeling nobody could touch. People will argue till time stands still on the best guitarist. But for amping up the crowd and delivering, nobody beats Frampton. Nobody.
I saw Peter in 1975, right before Framptonmania hit. He is an underrated guitarist. Fluid, melodic.
