I always liked Obi-Wan. I always thought it was kinda tragic that he loved Anakin so much that he couldn't see that Anakin was being manipulated to join the Dark Side. Well made video!👏👏
he could have killed Anakin in Revenge Of The Sith and A New Hope, but the reason he didn't was because he loved him, he saw Anakin as his little brother. Ooooooh the feels :(
Also, he knew there was a tiny glimmer of light within Anakin. What would have happened if Anakin had died that day? I'm sure Sidious could have found someone else, someone who wouldn't have helped luke defeat the sith in the final encounter. I personally think Obi-wan "saved" the galaxy by showing mercy.
I doubt Obi-Wan believed there was a glimmer of light left in Anakin, judging from what he said to Luke in RotJ. When he saw Vader choke Padmé and then try to kill him, full of such hatred, and screaming "I HATE YOU" with the last of his strength, that must have shattered Obi-Wan to his core. I think he wouldn't dare believe there was any good left in Anakin so as to not risk being broken and betrayed again. I'm not sure why he spared Anakin/Vader at the lava bank. Maybe it was simply Jedi code - you don't kill an unarmed being. Others think he just couldn't bear to, it was still his old friend, others think he did it out of callous sadism, that he wanted Vader to burn and die slowly. (But I'm not one of them.)
That One RUclipsr I think it was cruel of Obi-wan to not kill Anakin in Revenge of the Sith. That guy lost 3 of his limbs and got burned alive. Can you even imagine the pain?!

Killing Anakin isn't just destroying the Sith Apprentice, it is a MERCY. ROTJ tells us he believes that there is NOTHING of Anakin left in Vader - look at the words he uses to describe what happened to Anakin to Luke "he BETRAYED and MURDERED your father" "the good man who was your father was DESTROYED" "he's more machine now than man, TWISTED and EVIL". But back to that moment when Anakin is helpless on the lava bank, Obi-wan had two humane options available to him: rescue Anakin, or put him out of his misery. I can see why he didn't choose the option one, but cannot fathom any reason why he didn't choose option two. Instead, he choose the path of suffering and torment (and gee, does that sound familiar) and left Anakin to BURN ALIVE. it very well may be one of the VERY WORST POSSIBLE ways to die, and Obi-wan didn't simply abandon Anakin to his fate, he hung around and WATCHED until he was completely ENGULFED in flames. Sorry about the rant, I have a lot of rage feelings toward Obi-wan Kenobi, but this moment encapsulates them all.
