Hi Jason, not all Mr Beef' s are the same. Also a couple more Beef joints to check out next time in the chicago land area are Mr Beef on Harlem Ave, Northwest side of Chicago right next door to Norridge il. Johnnie Beef on North Ave in Elmwood Park IL and Original Al's Beef in the city on Taylor street. Just a few suggestions of many.

FYI- Johnnies Beef at 7500 W North Ave Elmwood Park IL 60707 blows away the location in Arlington Heights. Cash only and they dont take Titos or comps. Rumor has it Jackpot Joe took a nap in between beef places and dreamt about his huge hit in Vegas while wearing a Smedium Mr Handpay merch.

The sandwiches looked great and tasty! Poor George’s soup sandwich. He was a trooper to eat it though. If it gets too soggy it just ruins the hunger. Thanks for the food journey! 😄👍🏼🩷🥪 safe travels home and hope it wasn’t a three hour drive. lol.
Overall, the meat was cooked perfect. The only thing was the bread. The sandwich was too soggy to hold, which was disappointing.

I grew up in Chicago and in the 70's. Vienna Hotdogs, Italian beefs sandwiches, Gyros and of course deep dish pizza. I think I'll make plans and go home next week and visit. This video made me hungry and homesick...lol

It all depends on how long the meat is sitting in the Ajou if it’s dry over cooked beef…my home town area Chicago, all the bread is the same it’s the spices in the juice and how long they let the meat sit in it! Dont ask for double dipped or extra juicy or it falls apart! Which I Love 😜 but you got it with asking for it on the side if you don’t want it to fall apart 👍
Yep. The balance of spices in the Ajou and the way the meat is prepared can really make or break the experience. Knowing how long to let the meat sit in the ajou is key to achieving that perfect flavor and texture.
Combo beef and sausage with sweet and hot peppers is the only way to go. 😊 Freddie’s on 31st street (south of downtown) is good. Have you tried Wiener Circle for the dogs?

Chicago beets, especially when prepared well, can be a delicious addition to many dishes. Scatchell's is known for its great sandwiches, and Johnnie's Beef is a staple for Italian beef lovers. Delicious.
Everyone knows Portillo's is the best 🙌🙌🙌 they have a Chocolate Eclair Cake that's incredible.

Original Johnnies on North and Harlem is good sandwiches got smaller. But the BEST Pepper and Egg sandwich on Fridays. Also try Spizico, 2 doors east of Johnnies on North Ave, very good Italian beef.Buona is good. Jays on Narragansett and Montrose in Harwood Heights is probably the best on the Northside. Homemade hot giardiniera.

You need to go to The Hoagie Hut in Waukegan. Get their Cheese Steak Hoagie …. SOOOO GOOD. There use to be one in Highwood too but it closed.

Try the Italian beef at big deal burgers in West Allis right by state fair park. One of the best I have found in Wisconsin.

Alright! This morning, I finished your entire review. Yesterday I called Johnnies, without seeing the entire 20 minutes of your video. As I said, I was correct. Next time you're here, I'll take you to the original Elmwood Park Johnnies for a beef AND the famous Italian Ice (my treat). We practically lived in Chicago last year, and my hub had a kidney transplant. I was in downtown Chicago, Northwestern Hospital. I didn't travel far from my hotel. I was chicken, thought I would get lost lol.

Portillos is a solid place, and consistent. Many Chicago area people automatically dislike Portillos just because they are countrywide. Cheese fries and Chicago Dogs are their two top items.
If you are ever at the Waukegan Casino again, check out Big Ed's BBQ (one min away) - the owner is a great human, does lots for the community and other businesses.

@@JasonWasTHERE so wanted to share good news with you. I was offerred a job with Indiana dept of child welfare as a family support worker. Job offer is $25 after 90 days, most Ive ever made in a job! I cant care for elderly as an aide physically but I applied gor this, and got the job. Im also going to be driving as a lyft driver part time as well. I have disc disease in my spine, abd osteoarthritis in my knees so ive been on disability since 2016 when i last worked, but my weight loss has helped tremendously. Now i can work again, starting part time, easing into full time. Im so excited, just wanted to share it with you, your hard work that i see and read about is a great motivation, and we can do anything we put our minds to. So now ill make enough $ to see those dimples in person later this year☺😉😉. Can scratch that off my bucketlist soon lol
Portillo's is good, but if you weren't Mr. Handpay, the beef wouldn't have had as much beef! And it definitely wouldn't have been so pretty. Johnnie's is, BY FAR, the superior beef sandwich!
