Peter not only said you are the Christ but he confessed that JESUS IS THE SON OF GOD.
Yes, which means Peter recognized Jesus as the new King of Israel (aka kingdom of the LORD, kingdom of God, kingdom of heaven, which Jesus called His Church.) "Son of God" was the title for the king. See Samuels, Kings, Chronicles, Psalms, Gospels.

Peter was saying who was I to not open the kingdom to these who the Holy Ghost has been given. I take from that that he could have refused, as he did later in acts to Simon. I love that Peter said who was I? Not everyone hs been given these keys to such as special kingdom and I’m grateful for that. All those who got offended and left Jesus, so glad they didn’t leave with the keys. Jesus can take the keys back from people too. Grateful for this.

I love it man . I am trying to figure out a way to tell people how they can lose their key. And when you know you can lose your key it makes it even harder to be a Christian and to do the right thing all the time and thank a lot of people are going to be judged for not trying to pass on the word period and just filling up some glasses for a little bit of water in your neighbor's cup today

Keys can mean also authority like the keys to a city or kingdom.
I was not exactly sure about understanding that passage, but even before I watched your video, that is how I understood it as well as I asked guidance from God... binding and loosing things or... as it is also referenced to John 20:23, forgiving sins or not... it's all about preaching the gospel, which is the key of the kingdom and those who don't want it... don't have forgiveness of their sins, because precisely, the gospel is all about redemption of our sins.
Jesus asks, "whom do men say that I the Son of Man(Bin Adam) am? Peter's answer is twofold, Thou art the Christ(Messiah) , The Son of the Living God! Until then the Messiah was not thought to be The Son of God, we are looking back knowing now that the Messiah and The Unique Son of God are the same. A revelation not known at that time, that was the revelation Simon had received, and the reason Jesus blessed him for having spent time with the Father who had revealed it to him. A little later on Jesus rebukes him for trying to stop Him from going to Jerusalem.
So I never became a member of a certain church. I've been attending for months. I've been attending with out my husband cause he won't come with me as we go to different and conflicting denominations. Anyway....I'm bothered cause I recently walked out in the middle of a service but I felt so bothered. Not cause I just feel like a sinner or I feel convicted but the pastors was saying we should remember the day of our salvation if we are saved and I can't remember what day I was saved. So I feel like I didn't remember mine so I must not be saved but doesn't our salvation depend on our faith in Jesus and not the experience we had? And lately I've be e n having anger problems...anyway I had to get up again cause I let my 3 year old daughter t walk to the nursery..the door is literally directly behind the sanctuary but I wanted to check on her and when I look behind to see her go in the door I see indirectly mad faces and I have been feeling like I don't belong there lately..so I let my daughters stay in the nursery ( my oldest was helping) and I just left the church building.... if what is bound on earth is bound in heaven and they are fellow Christians but I never became a member of their church I am not part of their church membership covenant body and it doesn't matter to th e m. He believes in local church membership only and no universal church at all . I believe there is both...but I'm bothered does this mean I'm shut out of the kingdom cause I did that? My daughter said I slammed the door although I didn't realize I did.
Absolutely not the two most important commandments are love God and yourself unconditionally and love your neighbors just as you do God and yourself and keep the faith even the size of a mustard seed that you are going to go into the kingdom then you will.Jesus came here to take on the sins of the world because he wants everyone to make it into the kingdom.No one is sinless just forgive people for things they've done to you and most importantly be able to forgive yourself God bless you and your family❤🌎🙏
By their fruit you will know them. Some of the hateful comments here with swearing should be ignored as nothing more but opinion, filled with pride and a serpents tongue. You will know them by their fruit. Stand on the word children of God, speak with the gospel of peace. Both claimed Simon Peter's Power and Authority given by Christ Jesus was passed on through the next generation of SUCCESSORS...
Therefore, if that is TRUE, all denominations of Protestant Churches are at the mercy of RCC/GOC thru their Power and Authority of EXCOMMUNICATION...

Peter was not the first to realize Jesus is the Son of God. Read the part of the disciples on the stormy sea. They realized Jesus as the Son of God. Or the man named Simeon who saw Jesus as a baby.
Peter made a confession that all must make in order to become a Christian. All Christians become a rock/stone that Christ adds to His church Eph 2:19-22 that is continually being built up.
The keys only refer to Peter being the first to open the door into the church by preaching the Gospel to allow people in by their faithful obedience. Jews first, then gentiles.
If I am addressing an audience and I said I would like to thank you am I speaking to one person or the entire group?
When a teacher is speaking to his audience doesn't he say I would like you to turn to page....
When Jesus said You he wasn't talking to Peter only because he was enquiring among all his disciples who were in close proximity, listening and answering.

There is only one key to heaven as you have circled in this video, when Jesus said keys, it was because he was speaking to all his disciples...
JOHN David, I appreciate those thoughts. Generally speaking, there’s only one way to heaven (Christ). But your comment concerning an English plural for “you” does not follow for Greek grammar. In Greek, the singular “you” is intentionally used over against the plural “you all.” Jesus was addressing Peter, but as I mentioned in the video, there’s a sense in which all the disciples would use those keys. I just think Peter’s first sermons to Jews and Gentiles is a likely meaning for this scripture.

JOHN David, I am not sure what your point is concerning soi. I’ve been studying Greek for the better part of a decade, and I know that word very well. It is a singular person dative personal pronoun. And as I’ve said, I’m not catholic and I don’t think Peter was special. But in this instance, Jesus was giving a special privilege to Peter for having been the first to make such a plain claim about Jesus.

Even though σοι may be understood to be singular first person, jesus spoke in the company of a collective unit, implying Jesus was speaking to all of them as one singular unit.
Matthew 18:18 Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth.-The promise is not only to Peter but the other Apostles, and to the whole society of which they were the representatives. Therefore the keys were given not exclusively to Peter but to all his disciples...
Binding and loosening refers to binding a law on Christians or loosening a law on Christians.
Acts 15 Peter loosed circumcision on Christians. James binded gentile Christians to abstain from fornication, blood, idolatry

In Mathew 18 the church did not exist yet. So it means assembly - referring to the synagogue back then.

I have to disagree that Jesus saying "You are blessed" is about him blessing Peter. I think it's pretty clearly about THE FATHER blessing Peter by revealing to him this wisdom that others do not have.
I can probably get on board with that interpretation.

@@justinkase1360 yeah, that’s a great point. It’s amazing how even the smallest words provide insights and nuances that we’d surely miss with a passive reading. If I were to do this exegesis over, I’d interpret it similarly. Nevertheless, I do believe Peter was especially blessed with what Jesus goes on to say.

Jesus make clearly that the FAITH of His disciples was smaller than the mostly small seed.
And that was after 3 years having Him as their greatest Teacher.
Then WHAT can be called as FAITH if even His church of disciples was NOT ABLE to have FAITH after 3 years having Jesus as their greatest Teacher ?.
Thinking about the right answer please don’t forget Bible verses making clearly to see even that mostly small FAITH of His church as totally PREVAILED(destroyed) seeing Jesus CRUCIFIED.

In Matt 16:18 Jesus put as main CONDITION for the ROCK, His promises that His church will NEVER be PREVAILED.

When were true that His church was build already in Matthew 16:18 BEFORE the cross then we can only say that His church was TOTALLY PREVAILED already there SEEING Jesus CRUCIFIED.(Luke 24:21 Matt 25:31 Mark 14:27).
Already before to create any creature, Christ CRUCIFIED was planned to be the mostly great POWER to DRAW peoples to Him.

Rev 14:12 Here is the patience of the SAINTS: here are they that KEEP the commandments OF God, and the faith OF Jesus(Luke 4:16).
Rev 12:17 And the dragon(Satan) was wroth with the WOMAN(SDA church) and went to make WAR with the REMNANT OF HER seed, which KEEP the commandments OF God, and have the testimony OF Jesus Christ.(Rev 19:19 Rev 17:14 Matt 24:28 Gal 2:20).
P.S. The Bible and even EGW make clearly that Jews refusing to know Jesus AS CHRIST(as Sanctuary) will be repeated(right now) by the whole Christianity refusing to know the TEACHINGS(laws) about Sanctuary as to know Jesus AS CHRIST(as Sanctuary).
Since the disciples was already TAUGHT that Christ will never die(crucified-John 12:34) even the greatest Teacher Jesus was not anymore able to teach His disciples to accept Him as Sanctuary(crucified-Colos 2:1-3) and all of them was lost sheep’s seeing their King death on the cross... And now the Christianity are living in the same situation refusing to see Galatians 3:24 talking also about ceremonial Law bringing people to Christ.
Without to study all about Jesus and His life you will never be able to see you as guided by the Holy Ghost to have the same life so that finally you will fulfill also Galatians 2:20 (Rom 12:1 Rom 6:8; 2Tim 2:11 Rev 14:12 Rev 12:17 Matt 24:28 Luke 17:37).

What does Sacred Scriptures clearly say “IF WE SIN DELIBERATELY” or willfully break any of the commandments whether the old (10 Commandments) or NEW (Laws of LOVE or refusing to LOVE as Christ commands per John 13:34)??? If “THERE NO LONGER REMAINS A SACRIFICE FOR SINS, BUT A FEARFUL PROSPECT OF JUDGMENT”, then how does one obtain reconciliation with GOD again???
We must examine the old covenant to fully understand the NEW COVENANT. In Leviticus 5:5-6 and Numbers 5:5-9 we can understand what an old covenant Jew had to do to receive GOD's forgiveness. Additionally, GOD in the Books of Leviticus and Numbers any time personal “sin” is mentioned you will read over and over again “THUS THE PRIEST SHALL MAKE ATONEMENT FOR A MAN’S SINS AND IT WILL BE FORGIVEN” (Lev 4:20, 4:26, 4:31,4:35, 5:6, 5:10, 5:13, 5:16, 5:18, 6:7, 7:7, 12:8, 14:18, 14:19, 14:20, 14:29, 14:31, 15:15, 15:30, 16:32, 16:33, 19:22 Num. 6:11,15:25, and 15:28). In the old covenant, GOD uses ordained “men”, the Leviticus Priesthood, to administer His forgiveness.
Now, does GOD keep His WORD and covenant promises??? GOD promises to have a perpetual priesthood per His covenant in Numbers 25:12-13 and Malachi 2:4-7 and has WORDS of “forever” in Exodus 29:7-9, 40:15, and 1 Chronicles 23:13. Then, GOD promises to have a perpetual priesthood in Jeremiah 33:14-22 NEW COVENANT PROPHECY. Additionally, in context of “gathering the nations” in Isaiah 66:18 GOD states in Isaiah 66:21 “some of them also I will take for priests” meaning no longer based on Levi tribal lineage in the NEW COVENANT. In John Chapter 13, we see Jesus Christ fulfilling His Father’s Levi Covenant promise and Malachi 3:3 prophecy, when He sits down in the upper room “purifying” the NEW COVENANT PRIESTHOOD with a “washing”. This “washing” was a “forever” priestly liturgical GOD command in Exodus 30:21 in order to perform any altar work or sacrifice.
What “same” power does the Son of GOD give to His ONE and ONLY established Church or “the Church” per Matthew 16:19, 18:18 and specifically explained to the NEW COVENANT PRIESTHOOD by Jesus in John 20:21-23??? In 2 Corinthians 5:18-20 St. Paul describes what Jesus Christ did was He “GAVE US THE MINISTRY OF RECONCILIATION” and concluded “SO WE ARE AMBASSADORS FOR CHRIST”. An “ambassador” wields what kind of power as an “official representative” of Christ or more specifically explained in “the Church” as “persona Christi”???
Please come to your real home and be “reconciled” to “the Church” HIS ONE BODY (Ephesians 4:4-6). What did Jesus Christ create, pray for in John 17:21-23 and die for??? If you really LOVE Jesus Christ, then you will respond to His prayer and join the “ONENESS” that He created. The “Lamb of GOD” wants to unite with you in the NEW COVENANT PASSOVER (Luke 22:19) in His ONE and ONLY established Church, so we all can be “perfectly ONE”. May GOD richly bless you on your journey.

All the mental gymnastics just to deny the authority given to Peter by Jesus. This is the fruit of sola scriptura kids, personal interpretation of the scriptures. They do everything in their power to reject the authority of the magisterium, yet here they are, becoming one without connections to the early church via the sacred traditions.

The Bible clearly said I will give to you (Peter) the Keys to the Gate of Heaven... Christ never says I gave to you ALL (Apostles) the Keys to the Gate of Heaven... it was specifically given to Peter alone...
Which is why Peter opened the door for the Jews on the day of Pentecost and for the Gentiles at Cornelius' house. Nevertheless, Peter maintained no authority over the apostles, and an honest look at the entirety of the New Testament, including the gospels, supports this.

It's not obvious to the lazy christian. For example: Isaiah 7:14 was not an immaculate conception and neither was Matthew 1. A virgin can conceive and it's NOT an immaculate conception. That's a preconceived idea that was perpetrated by the pagan Catholic church that goes all the way back to Babylon. No human has ever been born by immaculate conception. EVER. If people would just slowly read and study, it becomes clear. Romans 1:3-4. Line upon line. It's hidden at first glance. But by the spirit, we can see. The veil has been covering our eyes for a certain amount time because of apostasy that we were warned about by Yeshua. That time is over (the sancuary has been cleansed) and now the truth is being revealed on a wide scale just before his 2nd advent.

Yes, let the Bible answer this question and we see that the "keys" means Peter was given the king's authority over Jesus' kingdom. The" keys" were given to indicate the man was
the prime minister, above the other ministers of the kingdom, over the
kingdom of God on earth. See Samuels, Kings, Chronicles, Psalms,
Gospels. Jesus came to restore/renew the Davidic kingdom of Israel, aka
kingdom of God, kingdom of the LORD, kingdom of heaven. In that dynastic kingdom, the king would appoint one of his ministers to be the prime
minister (major domo, or vicar) to administer the kingdom in the king's
name, with the king's authority, to lead/teach/guard/discipline, be a
"father" to the inhabitants of the kingdom (Isaiah22:21). The "keys" are the sign that one man is placed in that office. See Matt 16:16ff in light of Isaiah22:20ff.
King Jesus gave to PETER ALONE the "keys of the kingdom". The King
James Bible makes it obvious, "thee" is singular, "you" is plural. Jesus
said "And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven".
All the Apostles (the first generation of Bishops) were given authority
to "bind and loose", but only Peter was made the vicar of King Jesus.
The "keys" also indicates succession of that office. It is filled when
vacated. After a few centuries the office was called "papas", greek for
father (though other bishops were called that too), but soon enough only
the Bishop of Rome was called "pope". The office resides in Rome
because Peter established his seat there.
Just ask the Roman Empire during the first 300 years who was the leader
of the Christian Church. They will answer: "The guy we've been killing
again and again. The Bishop of Rome". Because they knew this, they
martyred almost every one of the first 30 popes (which ceased only when
Christianity was legalized in 320-something).
Get deep in Scripture and history, brother, then you will know Truth.

@@judesangma3583 Yes, the Papacy os ok, because it is established by King Jesus Himself when HE gave the 'keys' to the first person to hold that office (Peter). The word 'pope' began to be used to indicate Peter's office a few centuries later. Even though the men who hold the office are sinners, King Jesus rules vicariously through them.
