      @Max Kellerman I feel like there's no end to what you can learn. How long it takes really depends on how good you want it to sound. I've been working on my production skills for around eight hours a day for the last month and I'm just now getting decent. My stuff doesn't sound anywhere close to radio ready but would probably be fine for a local indie band.

    Sir! I HAD to come on here and THANK you for these tutorials! I NEVER imagined that I could ever mix and master my tracks to the point of enjoying listening to them myself! These steps have helped me TREMENDOUSLY! I was almost to the point of giving up on mixing and mastering my own songs. WOW! Thanks a mill, man! I wish I could SUBSCRIBE and hit LIKE a million times! You have made this so much easier for me, with the time and care that you took in this step-by-step å. I've tried numerous others, and always ended up frustrated, for my music never sounded good. This right here though? WOWOWOWOWOWOW!!! I am so very excited!! THANK YOU!!!!! Y'all subscribe and support this to this guy!!!

    Although I purchased this course yesterday, I‘ve been watching part 1 here on RUclips and I must say I did the right thing purchasing because already in the first part I heard and saw so many new things and now I can go through all the parts more intensely as I have the audio files too. I think this is a course I‘ve been searching for so long and it’s not expensive at all. 👍🏻👏🏻🙏🏻

    The only thing I missed about panning (so I googled it) was cmd+click on the pan knobs which reverses the left-right direction (and turns knob from green to orange). This could be useful to easily change the entire drum kit perspective.

    Thank you for doing these videos. They are most helpful, and I appreciate the time you put into making them. I have a question about panning. Elsewhere on the internet there are articles claiming that for true panning in Logic, you should use the "directional mixer" plugin on each channel, the suggestion being that there is more to panning than volume attenuation. What are your thoughts on that?

    Thanks for awesome tutorials! I just watched your "Pre-Fader vs. Post-Fader Metering" which I really needed but was a little confused again after this one. Are you pre-fader here? I thought you would not adjust volume faders when setting levels? ...when to pre and when to post is the question I guess?

    • @MusicTechHelpGuy
      @MusicTechHelpGuy  7 лет назад +3

      When I do DAW specific mixing series, I almost always use just stock plug-ins. Otherwise people would complain that they don't have the plug-ins I have. ie. don't want to pay for them. So I usually save third-party stuff for single plug-in tutorials and smaller projects.

    • @premnath5749
      @premnath5749 7 лет назад +2

      Ah ok thanks. As a seasoned pro, do you believe stock plugins could make the cut? Thanks for taking the time.

    I’ve seem to become a “master” in making instruments sound good in a logic session. I need advise regarding how I can make vocals sound good.
    I mix in a church environment, from logic to Facebook Live. It’s like whenever I mute the voices the mix sounds amazing, but, when I activate them (or turn them higher in volume) it sounds bad. To be fair, the singers, especially the lead singer, aren’t very good, however my pastor does not take that as an excuse, so I need help.
    The solution I’ve been trying to implement is adding affect, however, it seems that sometimes I add too much effect or the wrong one.

    Good video. What are your thoughts on changing the gain of the audio regions or using a gain plugin (first slot) instead of the fader to set gain structure? Looks like your meters are post-fader in the video. if you just lower the fader, aren't you still sending a hot signal to your plugins? An added benefit of changing the gain at the source would be the ability to make fader moves closer to unity where fine adjustments are easier. I like to use a VU plugin referenced to -18 to set the channel gain so it feeds plugins with the proper levels and prevents clipping my busses. Thanks for posting the videos. I do enjoy them.

    • @MusicTechHelpGuy
      @MusicTechHelpGuy  7 лет назад

      Faders are post-inserts/FX. So when you adjust the fader, you're not doing anything about adjusting the signal before it hits the plug-ins. My recordings are already at a healthy level before hitting the plug-ins. But if I need to make a pre-insert gain chain, I usually just adjust the clip gain in the Region dialog in the upper left order. Allows you to add gain to each clip. But adding the Gain plug-in before your FX works too.

    I use LPX when playing live gigs. I have a project (A) with three audio tracks (and some MIDI tracks). One of the audio tracks is a LPX drum loop and I stretched the drum pattern out in some measures. Whenever I have another project open(B), so it's ready to go, the drums on project A play a few measures....stop playing...start...stop. How can I fix this issue?

    hi help guy - thanks for the great videos. my problem is this, when working on a track with logic pro x an instrument will occasionally pop out of the mix and become much louder suddenly. this only happens with midi instruments and especially midi drums!! its driving me crazy as when i'm getting close to a great mix a snare or something will - out of nowhere - become a good few db's louder than I set it. no automation has been used. its getting so that I cant trust my mixes to a mastering engineer anymore. can you help?

    Did you use logic's amp designer and pedalboard to get the overdrive tone? It sounds very true to Tube tone

    • @MusicTechHelpGuy
      @MusicTechHelpGuy  7 лет назад

      It's a Kemper profiling amp. One of the best pieces of gear I ever bought! It's a bit pricey at $2300, but I love the tones, and I find most of them are 95% true to the original amps.

    should i watch the other mixing tutorial first before this? are they similar videos? i kind of just skipped from the piano roll editor tutorial to this cause it was on my feed lol so i was wondering if the other mixing videos are maybe give a more basic, broad or general understanding that would be better to watch first?
    also thanks a lot for your videos man!! extremely convenient and useful!

    • @MusicTechHelpGuy
      @MusicTechHelpGuy  8 лет назад +2

      If you want to skip the main mixing series, maybe watch my new compressor tutorial first, then come back to this and you'll be fine. The old series I had was more detailed about compression in particular. But, the version of Logic X I was using was an older version so some of the plug-ins looks different. ruclips.net/video/8ilZT1iV8Po/видео.html

    why is the bass in stereo?

    • @MusicTechHelpGuy
      @MusicTechHelpGuy  7 лет назад +1

      If I'm remembering correctly, it's just because I bounced it out of Pro Tools (in stereo) to put in Logic. So it actually doesn't have any stereo effects, but the file is just in stereo. It was recorded in mono.

    • @MusicTechHelpGuy
      @MusicTechHelpGuy  7 лет назад +1

      Actually, now I remember, it's because the distortion effect on it I added was in stereo (so there may be just some slight stereo variation, but doubt much).

    Personally, when you have the lead guitar that high you have no confidence in the lead vocalist. I'd cut that lead guitar down and bring her voice up. Of course, if you've got Satriani or Vai singing bring them way down and let the guitar talk. She has a good voice but not a rich enough mic, mix or both to showcase it.
