Definitely a distinctly different vibe in these older videos. This video makes me FEEL like it’s 2014 again. Good review.
I know this review is old now, but here is someone who actually gets what this car was about. Great review from one of only a handful of reviewers who don’t lament the absence of an automatic box.
I only recently found out they even existed & went out & bought one & was blown away with how quick & nimble this is. Anyone who knocks the performance hasn’t really driven one. Even with a stage 1 tune it easily does 0-100 kph in the low 4’s without even trying, but it’s the cornering speed where they’re untouchable. You’d have to buy a TTS or TTRS to match the corner entry & exit speed these little rockets have which makes it one of the greatest little modern trackable cars you can find on the 2nd hand market.
Love this little Audi. Imagine the RS1 though :o that would be awesome

Awesome review and awesome car. Wish we could smuggle one of these here in Canada, as I've neither seen an A1 or S1 of any shape and form. I'm a sucker for drivers cars and Audi has been impressive lately.

Audi S1 is not bad, but the Polo R WRC (Street) is much more exciting in my opinion! The Volkswagen engineers have put so much effort in every detail. And that car is challenging in not breaking the speed limits. :D As a German driver it is such a great thing to get on the Autobahn, put the pedal to the metal and turn on the left overtaking lane and cruise along with 200 km/h. =D Love it!

In the UK Audi and VW hit hatches aren't know to be the best. The renaultsport megane 265/trophy is renown to be one of, if not the best hot hatch available currently. It's an epic car!
Renault has recently made quite a few track focused hatchbacks with more power, im not surprised they've gained even more popularity.
Because they don't have a German badge on the nose.
When you get your license, try one, and find out.

The E36 Loon S1 comes only in Manual so it can’t really be that feminine can it?
Bigger than a integrale more torque. Clutch foot a bit tight..lhd wud have more. Still takes miles off my lancia.

@@jamescort1027 been running mine hard on track for 4 years so far not a single issue so I dunno 🤷🏻♂️. Service them well and they run for years. It’s when you abuse them without looking after them they become unreliable as to be expected
Suspension, judging by shaky cam, looks bone hard. Typical audi.
Wait.. since when are audis known for bonehard suspensions.. I have had one of those and they are comfy as f*ck. I would have fallen asleep if the exhaust wouldn't have been so sexy.
+Kommentator are you in the UK? Audi sport lines plus our crap roads = bad ride. soft boat like Volvo's are best here. for some reason everyone wants sporty and sporty means hard suspension with no suppleness.
People stood IN FRONT OF the rally cars to take pics?! The whole thing looked so dangerous haha. (And wickedly fun).

Nice car, but doesn't really deserve the S1 badge i think. They should have done like BMW did with the 1M.
On the other hand i'm sure that they really don't want to be compared with BMW saying that "They just did like BMW calling it 1S and not S1" so they called it S1.
look an audi S isn´t a rival to an M,whilst the RS and the M are rivals (and in RS6 avant,gotta love that 300plus kp/h station wagon tough)
Well the S1 has been around for longer and as history with Audi naming they always have 'RS' and then a number to match the stock car in it's series (RS66=A6,RS always first). And also, 1S sound very strange.

I really the Audi S1. I'm thinking of selling my JCW Mini and purchasing one.
Manual transmission wasn't really a choice. It was either DSG FWD or MT Haldex. Also going Haldex means 4 individual suspension

The most beautiful car audi has ever made is the b7 audi rs4 that's a real audi this looks like a fiat whats with the designer was he cross eyed.

They have an A3 Clubsport that will eat the A45 AMG alive, might not be properly produced but they say if they do then it would be out in 2016 i think. 520bhp 0-62 in 3.6 seconds.
Then add a revo package to it and it will easiliy we be kicking out 300+ bhp, possibibly leading to a sub 5 second 0-60 and even possibly a sub 4
Or the APR stage 3 turbo upgrade, 450hp

Depending on where you live one car could be better than the other. If you live in a place with very small roads and only spaces to park small cars get Audi. if you live in a place where the roads are big and you can park any car anywhere definitely get the STI

The styling looks too soft. My A1 S-Line TSFi looks for sporty. I'm disappointed with the styling. Although I don't doubt it will go well.

COSECCO It actually makes sense, as you have to keep an overall balance, for the look. I personally think that 4 is too much for a so little car, as it is for the golf R.

Kaisuke971 well , now i personally think 4 exhaust pipes are the best amount for the actuall design . if you will just look at the car ... just imagine how it will look just with 2 exhaust pipes . the design will be unbalanced . i mean that car has alot SMALL aggresive details like : in front bumper there down 5 small holes . well so in rear bumper there must be something familiar . you cant just make car look different in front and different in rear . every car has own basic design style . this is a model S of an A1 . S must make that car look aggresive (like every sports car)
This looks good, I like the simple dash and I love that there's finally a car again that is a car, not a full automatic electronic box on wheels.
I do still prefer RWD though, because, well, I'm sure you all know why :p
Still not a fan of the outside, all cars look the same. But each to their own, you all go buy new cars, I'll have my fun with older ones ^^ (as in: late 80's, early 90's)
Amen to that brother. The S1 and A1 are properly good and for some reason, hatches should either be fwd or awd. Rwd is the best layout, but it just doesn't suit hatches.

Not the same class. The A45 is more like the opponent of 1/2 series and audi RS3
I think it is a lot more fun, you cannot use the power of the a45, but you could really use the small weight of the s1.
