Excellent unboxing and review. I agree on the white letters in the back. Overall I have been happy with mine. The mulch selections is nice as you pointed out and the tires are larger. Actually they do not go bald as easily as the hrn.
Glad to hear. That was annoying replacing them every year. Hopefully this one will be better. I washed my Honda after first use and it steamed a lot. Probably should have waited a while before washing
I have a dumb (to most) question. I like to push my mower and use the drive when I need it (I'm old and need the exercise). Can you do that with this unit or does it "click"? I'm hoping this HRX belt-drive model will allow it.
So far so good with that. However, I had 3 other issues later out of the box. The thermowax failed on me (wouldn’t start), the overhead valve leaked (dealer had 2xs to repair this) and speed was whack out of box (I fixed this)
@@loislane4583 I probably wouldn’t with the issues I’ve had with this one and the headaches. I had it at the dealer for almost a month and could not mow under warranty. After that the starting issues. I’m worried this was a lemon
I did this mod before even running mine. Make sure to have a pin-punch set (and weighted hammer) to precisely set the hole placement and an assortment of drill bits to slowly step the holes up. Unfortunately, the directions are more or less "measure, drill and install", and don't include a template. Hardest part is the alignment and then compensating a bend into the metal bands that conforms with the deck. I'd give myself a 98%-99% on my install.
Part of the motor was missing on your first delivery? That's disturbing. Especially since it's a Honda product. Great unboxing video. I won't attempt to lift mine out of the box when it arrives. I'll just cut the sides like you did.
@@appleztooranges Sounds like the first one was a open box model and someone scavenged parts of it. I just picked up the HRX217HYA from Home Depot had it delivered bought it online and it was on sale for $799 had it up and running in 2 minutes. I also ceramic coated the deck and the whole mower just for a piece of mind. It is even quieter than my 3 year old HRN216VKA I use them for my lawn care service. Awesome mowers
Very sad times! They discontinued Honda single stage snowblowers as well. According to the Honda person I talked to, they said not enough money to keep it going for them so they would rather sell atvs. It’s too bad

@@appleztooranges I do the same thing. Seems to not hurt it. Probably best to wait a little while, I guess.
@@MemphisMower sounds good. I just like having it clean and looking good

Hi there, I believe you can do that. You can just put it in first gear ⚙️ than use blade clutch and push it manual since that is neutral position.
How is this mower holding up after all these years? Im concerned about the plastic deck not holding up occasional running over rocks?

@@appleztooranges So given that its 800 bucks now, would you recommend this(at that price?)

@@appleztooranges Appreciate your honesty.
@@loislane4583 welcome! It’s a lot of money on a lawn mower. Especially when other brands are 1/2 to 1/3 price of it
There are accessory edge guard stainless steel strip to protect the outer deck edges.
Yeah but you have to drill into the nexite deck. I saw videos on that
@@appleztooranges Those two 5/16 the holes are then covered by the strip and fasteners.
I have concrete edging so that why I got them.
@@wayneessar7489 oh okay cool. Easy?

Will it last long as commercial use?
I talked to a few contractors and they said yes! They said they had this hrx217 for over 15 years and still going commercially
@@appleztooranges thx I’m waiting on mine . Since commercial are sold out and skyrocketed in price.

Yeah it is. I am glad I returned it for this one.

Is the 2019 Honda hrx217 being recalled or the 2023 hrx 217
2023
I'm glad I bought my HRC as Honda will stop producing mowers in 2024. Sad times.

technically only stopping gas mower production and instead electric solely. Sad day though for sure.
@SuperTalleyho they are still manufacturing mowers, just not for the North American market. Thank your politicians.
