- James, Jessie and Meowth had a tough time in Fallarbor and Lavaridge, but their journey to collect badges and ribbons in Hoenn is far from over!
This is the seventh installment in my "What if James never got engaged?" series, which is an alternate universe look at Team Rocket's childhood if James didn't have awful parents. Turns out a lot can change in a person's life when they grow up supported and loved. Isn't that wild?

I know I've said this before, but it needs to be said again, and for the first time if I haven't. It's clear how much effort you put into these videos. You don't just speak into a microphone awkwardly. You immerse the viewer in not only a well-thought out story, but you add clips and update the screen with the progress of the story. Man oh man, the amount of passion and know-how with ALL aspects of the characters and timeline of both games and anime is unparalleled! And such unique new characters (and love the anime-exclusive badge references)! Love the new additions to both teams! And so many emotional ups and downs all around this second leg of the journey I can't even list them all!

It's finally here, I was just about to give up hope, but it finally came. And, it was great.
Though, I was kind of hoping James would catch an Aron and a female poochyena,(which could be a girlfriend for Growlie)and Jessie would get her Dustox and catch a Roselia too.

Chimecho winning a gym battle reminds me of something I actually always liked better about the anime. Pokemon can be weak or strong depending on the trainer but all of them have the potential to be great. Something that is definitely not true in the games as name the last time anyone actually treated butterfree as anything other than free exp
Yeah, learning Gravity came in clutch here. James won with strategy, something Ash didn’t use consistently until at least midway through Hoenn if not Sinnoh.
Butterfree and Vivillon can use Quiver Dance tho...
but Volcarona is WAY better
I do hope you don't mind critiquing what you write, I really do love this series but I do think there was a lot of wasted potential with James' Feebas. I don't really like how you essentially did genderflipped Magikarp with his Feebas with him training the fish up with his grandparents again, it would've been nice to show how James has grown by having him raise the Feebas this time and he struggles with her for a bit until her fight with Juan. It just feels like James got a bit too lucky with Gyarados and Milotic this time round. Especially since Milotic helped so much at the last gym, it felt unearned
Other than that though I love this series always, I love how unique the pokemon variety is and how you give them their own personalities and backgrounds and I like how you deal with James' journey being way before Ash's so the younger gym leaders are swapped out for older characters, nice touch

It's good writing, would have loved to see a series for this
They rely a lot on evolutions, not just in this video. A lot of the times in battles where they almost lose, evolution comes in clutch to save them.
Not bad, just makes things a bit easier than the challenge I was expecting. The last gym battle was cool, they had prepared strategies in advance md for this.
I feel bad that I missed this but I am so ready for the next half you put a lot of thought into this one

You’ve written an amazing story so far. You’ve also given Jessie and James perfect pokemon and this is just fantastic.
Ah, the anime universe. The only place where Volbeat and Illumise can be useful in the slightest. That's what's great about the anime (and this video series as an extension), it let's us see weaker pokemon that otherwise wouldn't make a meaningful contribution to the franchise.

I can't wait to see the genocide about to take place. If brutal death was allowed I'm pretty sure Jessie would have a body count higher than even Post-Vader Anakin.

Only real criticism is James beating all of Juan’s Pokémon with a newly evolved Milotic. Defeating two Pokémon would be reasonable but all three isn’t (to me). Also, that double evolution with Whismur was almost as crazy.
Still, I’m glad to see this story updated. You have shown a lot of creativity and thought for this what if. Jessie and James are learning and remembering more lessons on two journeys compared to Ash did in six regions.
That moment between Jessie and Stu Pid reminded me of Ash and Paul with Chimchar. Like Paul, Stu was arrogant and cruel, too stupid and short-sighted to realize Mawile’s potential. Jessie understood patience and love was the key to helping this Pokémon become a superstar. Bad luck facing Wallace of all people though.
Still, Jessie and James earned an impressive achievement list: Will, Glacia, Moore, Vladimir, Phoebe. I’m sure Wallace and Steven will be added to the list eventually.
I honestly thought James would have battled Phoebe’s grandmother given the timeline.
And next time is going to be intense! A raid on a major Team Rocket base with Steven Stone is pure catharsis to me. Butthead and Cassidy have no idea how screwed they are.
Thank you for continuing this story. This feels so in line with the anime but at the same time, it feels more grown up. You’re taking risks the writers of the original series never would have considered and it looks awesome. I’ll be looking forward to the next entry next year.
