    As a youtube knife junkie i love these type videos. With so many knives dropping every week this helps people with their next knife purchase. So much great info in one video. 👍

    CRKT Pilar is my current favorite small knife. I've got the D2 version with OD micarta handle scale. It feels really good in my hand and I don't feel like I'm giving up much in the way of function compared to larger knives that I own.

    I'd throw in the Protech Sprint as well as the Runt. I never bought any small knives until the last couple yrs and I'm glad I did. They def have their place in the edc world.

    The Civivi Ki-V is an Ostap Hel design. Great designer. It has the spirit of a Japanese Kiridashi. Simple and practical. Thanks for including it.
    Hogue's X1 Microflip comes in at just over two and a half inches. It's robust, fidget friendly, more than capable for difficult tasks. It's never far from me.
    CJRB Ria is a small traditional looking knife. An incredible slicer with a proprietary steel, that once you figure out the "sweet spot" will fly open and also drops shut with ease. Mine has green micarta and is usually with me. If someone can't source, say the Chris Reeves Mnandi or a Moki (beautiful Japanese built knives), the CJRB Ria is a fantastic option.
    Thanks for not flaunting The James Brand, Benchmade, Case and Swiss Army Knives. It's like beating a dead horse with another dead horse.
    "Carry On!"

      I do love that one, they recently came out with a larger version of the ki-v which is even nicer but it's not really mini like the first model. They're both great designs.
      Another really nice little model to check out that I found is the Vouking Knives T03GRN in m390. I don't know if that's just the model name on the site i was on but it's a really nice little flipper/titanium framelock that many "mini" Chinese clones are copying.
      Check it out it's awesome.

      @@SweetTooth8989 I was looking at Stedemon Vouking knives a few years ago because one of their designs really caught my eye. There was word circulating that their M390 wasn't legit. Maybe Frankie and Bird of BirdshotIV said it? That may have been fixed by now, but I would ask around before you move on it. I'm going to have a look at the Ostap Hel you mentioned. Cheers!

    I really think the Spyderco Lil' Native should have been on the list, a great little knife.

    • @NaturalMystic69
      @NaturalMystic69 2 года назад

      Was just about to comment the same thing. When I bought it it was a toss-up between the Lil Native and the Civivi Odium but I decided on the blacked out Lil Native. I also own a first and second gen Dragonfly, as well as one of the G10/VG10 versions shown in this video.
      Another one I'd have included is the Spyderco Ladybug (and/or Manbug). I don't own a Manbug but do own several Ladybugs including two H1 versions, one of which I gave my wife to EDC. Of the 100+ knives I own the Ladybug is by far my most used!
      My third and final suggestion is a cool but lesser known flipper called the Bastion Braza Bro EDC flipper. It's a touch bigger than a Ladybug and has a D2 blade and steel frame. I bought 2 of them on their Kickstarter a couple years back.

      Yep. I have the lil native and the Nerd. Yeah the Nerd is awesome and I do carry it more often but if I want to do anything heavier then cutting up small boxes it’s the lil native every time.

    • @LordTywinLannistertheBased
      @LordTywinLannistertheBased 2 года назад

      @@socjocke I think he didn't include the lil native because he put the nerd on the list. I have one of the M4 jade g10 lil native. You'll have a much harder time doing any damage to that than the nerd imho. I'm more of a 3-4 inch blade knife guy but if I ever need a fifth pocket blade I carry that lil native and I can certainly understand those that want a smaller blade. But imho, I think out of this list, the techno 2 is the best all around.

    Nice list Taylor, I have some on the knifes in that list… love specially the Dragonfly, Dapper, and the Techno 2… I might add other that you didn’t mentioned : CRKT Pilar, Benchmade mini Griptilian, Fox Knives Livri, Kershaw Auto 4, We Mote. I own them all and are formidable for the size they have, and plus they all look awesome. My Vox Dapper is fine with no apparent QC issues… and I bought it after seeing it in one of your videos.

    I was sent a 3 pack of Fury mini folders. Very tiny & effective - 1 in the pocket, 1 in the bugout kit & 1 in the car. 2" blade & very shape as I have used it camping. I have used it camping & cut the usual supply of postal boxes / packages open with it. The bottle opener has come in handy at Beer O'Clock to open a few stubborn caps.

    The Civivi Odium was used as my daily for over a year and half at a factory job (forklift driver) where we pretty much cut plastics to insert shipping papers or plastic wrappers on the product we worked with. It performed flawlessly and the reason it stopped being my daily there was because it either got stolen or lost. I may have left it on my lift one day, it might have gotten snagged off my pocket on a trailer I loaded, it might have gotten taken out my locker, who knows? But it was such a solid knife and for the price it was great. Highly suggest!

    The Kershaw chive is one of my favorites of all time. It’s cheap so I don’t mind beating on it, the 440 HC takes a good edge easily so I don’t mind the sharpening, and it’s small yet comfortable and efficient. The Gerber Dime is also a wonderful small knife, if you count a multitool.

    Not done with the video yet, but I’ll say this: I have carried the Spyderco Dragonfly 2 almost every single day single I got it a little over two years ago. As you perfectly stated at the opening of the video, tiny knives are all you need for urban, package-opening EDC. The only time in two years that I’ve actually needed a bigger, stronger knife is when doing something outdoorsy, and even then my ESEE Izula- which is almost identical blade and handle length- does just fine.
    In addition to the Dfly 2 and the Izula, I EDC a Case Barlow or a Victorinox Fieldmaster. The Fieldmaster has a large and a small blade, and I actually prefer the small blade for my package-opening EDC tasks.
    Not only is the shorter blade plenty, but non-locking knives like slip joints or double detents function just fine for most urban EDC tasks.

    I have been loving the SOG twitch II. It’s been a great small inexpensive edc knife.

    The Quiet Carry Eddy is worth considering as an addition to this list. It’s also not fidgety, but it has good materials, good design, and is well made.

    I have really been crushing on small knives ... My Ti. Banter, Halftrack, Mini Monolock have been in my pocket the most.

    One of my favorite small knives is Kershaw Cinder. It's cheap & works great.

      I luv me cinder, has copper scales and looks good.
      Great little box/string/utility cutter. Surprisingly good ergos.
      Perfect size for the fifth pocket and doubles as the perfect bottle opener ... In my case we'll used 😉🍺

    I just had to file down the thumb stud a little as it was a bit pokey.

    I've only been building my edc collection 3yrs. Sub 50 knives. CRTK Squid has been a great great working knife. Very smooth and one hand easy.

      The Squid was one of my first practical/non-tactical EDC knives. It's a tough little chunk of steel! There's an aftermarket micarta scale available, that would bring down the weight and offer a bit more personality to it.

    I'm surprised that the Kershaw chive 1600 a Ken Onion design, wasn't in your pick. I also like the shuffle by Kershaw, it's not the chive. Another Kershaw is the Ember, lower quality all around, but for the price it is a beast. I do like the ZT 0022 A great knife build quality is unmatched for sure could have went 3\4 of an inch longer. The protech runt 5 is to fat. I own it but carry the chive over it. I have carried a lot of the knives you covered and I have to agree with most everything you said, but as you said your opinion and your entitled to it it's definately what is responsible for the huge array of choices we have on the market. I have my opinion and I hope that you will be enticed to try the chive if you havn't. I really like your channel and it's been a factor in several knives I have bought and now enjoyed so thanks for the work you do. I for one really enjoy watching. My favorite all time edc small knife is the Kershaw's chive 1600 BLK which has been discontinued . I probably own 50 or 60 of them and 5 of the 1600BG a stunning knife. the biggest down fall is the clips seem a bit week but a sturdier clip might outweigh the knife its self . I will have to find a way to get a Copita. lol. LMK what you think.
