First Edition player from back in the day here. My former partner and her boy used to LOVE playing this, and there are many happy memories. Such a lovely designed game and board. Thanks for the memories.
I remember first playing this in1993 in a tent with a torch in my mates garden during summer holidays when I was 12. My mates mums boyfriend had pretty much every single GW game release so we had a huge cupboard full of treasures. He had every single paint set too and let us help ourselvs to any game we wanted and let us paint what ever we wanted aswell. He was a compulsive collector but rarely even had time to open the boxes, let alone play anything! I never liked the idea of this game until We played it. Like you say - its the artwork of the board and cards which really bring it to life!! It was 2nd edition we played I think. Seeing this viseo after all these years is absolubtly amazing! Thanks dude!!
Thank you for highlighting this great game which I still play with great pleasure. I own the V2 and the V4. It makes me want to buy the V3 and some extensions to complete my collection.
Man, such a blast from the past. I started out with 2nd edition myself, and gradually purchased the old white metal figures that coresponded with the game. I actually managed to keep hold of my Talisman druid up until a couple of years ago, when a box of miniatures got misplaced during a house move.
Thanks a lot for this exhaustive review. I remember playing the 2nd edition. The character that had the ability to get a 2nd draw for adventure cards (the prophetess I guess) seemed to be the most cheated to me. I was a kid however, and might not have well understand the rules. Is there more strategic aspect in the 4th edition, or is it still ultimately based on die and card draw?
Love the video, and have come to love Talisman as well :) Back in the 80s and 90s my gaming group was only into things like Rolemaster and Squad Leader and Diplomacy and Star Fleet Battles; and were far too *serious* for GW games... It's only been in the last 6 or 7 years since I've gotten back into tabletop gaming that I've been able to experience the joy of games like Heroquest and Space Hulk, and it took the online version of Talisman for me to get my current gaming friends to play :) Thanks for this retrospective; I'm pretty up on the history of video games because I was deep in them for 20+ years, but the evolution of board games fascinate me :)
Thank you. This was a great video for me to do because there was so much there to tell and work with. Talisman to me is the monopoly of fantasy board games. Fun simple and games can be long.
@@TheBattlinBarrowGaming Actualy thare are 3 versions of the game in Poland: 1) Magia i Miecz - esencialy thare are unique graphics. 2) Magiczny Miecz - Wich is a pirate ripoff Talisman with some new rules and new but terrible graphics. 3) Talisman Magia i Miecz - It's a oryginal Talisman from GW with subtitle known to polish gamers.
Read the Horus Heresy series and you'll wonder why you ever only restricted to the fantasy world. I used to fail to see 40ks appeal, but I'm a convert now LOLS 😆

Glad you liked it! Yep Gary Chalks art is amazing
I love the old gw artwork from the 80's. You just don't see artwork like that in games these days.
ITs amazing stuff!

Talisman seems to bring really good memories to those that encountered it. Glad you liked the video and thanks for sharing a nice memory of it!
My favourite Talisman was definitely 3rd edition, the artwork & miniatures top notch!
Nice! 2nd edition for me, all the way. Love the art and look of it.
2nd Is still my favourite although due to the missing board section I play 4th the most.
Beautiful.
Thank you!
I always look for miniatures in boardgames, i really like the elf with the bow on the ground.
Great video! I really love Talisman.
Glad you enjoyed it!
That was the best talisman documentary I ever see. I have the 2 Edition and because the lack of players, I enjoy the Digital Edition.
Thank you, really glad you enjoyed it!

This still is one of my favourite games, every time I play I just feel I am traveling around that fantasy land going on adventures
Fantastic, thanks for the video! I miss the old GW bookcase boxes.

That must of been upsetting to have him that long then lose him
@@TheBattlinBarrowGaming It was certainly frustrating, but i hope to pick up the same scult again on ebay at some stage
I will keep an eye out and if I see on I'll give you a shout
@@TheBattlinBarrowGaming much appreciated buddy

I would say the 4th March s pretty as you would remember the 2nd.theres still no real tactics as such

Amazing overview, doing this great game justice.
Thank you!
I miss the puzzle cut boards like the original gw dungeonquest and Victory Point Games gold banner games.
Yep. They are great!
There is also polish verion with superb graphics. It's named: Magia i Miecz.
Excellent! Thanks for letting me know

No worries
💯🤘❤️🕯️
I imagine you did buy another 2nd edition? Went to EBay and now there are several.
I have just last week brought a replacement board for this. Going to next be trying to repair the box.
I am really torn up there is something i like about every edition X-D the best middle ground would be 4th if the miniatures weren't so bad :-/
Is there someone selling 3D printable alternative designs of those?
My best mate had an earlier version than this, the box was green I think..
That was the first edition very similar to the second

Woodsman wasn't base, pretty sure.
I think you are right there.
