- In this video, I show you how to catch crawfish in your front yard. We are using some fishing line, a crappie hook, split shot and a night crawler. Crawdad fishing takes me back to my childhood, and I want to give my son those memories as well. The best time to get out in the yard and catch these crawfish is going to be right after a big rain. I’m 70 years old. As a kid we used kite string, a weight and bacon in a creek in Texarkana that ran through the college. Cooked them by the bucket fulls. Enjoyed your video.
That was really good. Jadon is definitely the star of the show. When I was a kid we used a key on a string with a piece of bacon. Brought back memories from a long time ago!
Fun to see dad do something with his son like that. It makes me remember when I used to do that as a kid. But we didn’t hook we just had bacon to the end

Some of my favorite memories as a kid was the crayfish portion of the day. I still catch them for fun when fishing is slow
A great way to make memories with your family
when I was a kid we would use nylon string and tie a piece of bacon on the end. we'd catch 50 or so crawdads , then head down to the river and use them as bait for catfish.
that was in the late 70s/early 80s...now I'm 57 and I just spent all morning catching crawdads , first thing in the morning I'm headed to the Sabine River just north of Toledo Bend lake to run some limb lines !

Me and my brother use to do this too. Big rain would happen and our grandmother would give us yarn on a branch with a bit of bacon on the end and we'd just tie a rock at the end for weight. We would go crawdadding in the creeks and ditches around my grandmothers place

I agree you should release crayfish now enough meat I would use them for bait though.
