That was, without a doubt, the most exciting bit of racing I've seen since the days of BTCC Supertourers. In-frickin'-credible! Now I have to find a way to watch V8 Supercars here in Europe.
Reminds me of touring car racing of the 90's (getting the cars on two wheels over the curbs!!!) which was one of the best eras in motorsport...but truly one of (if not) the best Touring car series in the world!
To be so evenly matched at the end of an event like this is rare then add the shear skill courage and determination of each of the 3 drivers and neither falling under the pressure. Matching, blocking, bumping on the last 3 laps. Just great racing, don't matter what type of racing you like. Though for me it makes it better that these are V8s.
@Winterfang Technically you're right ...but, if you could imagine what is at stake here and put yourself in the shoes of one of these drivers ...then you'd get it. I love watching these battles, whether it be F1 or V8 Supercars, I always get a chill down my spine when watching them. Especially that last bit where they went through the corner together and the Ford was leading for a bit ...EPIC!!
I really dislike the "thumbs up" requests in posts. If a post is good, people with give it a thumbs up, don't ask for it. It makes you seem desperate. On a side note, V8 Supercars has some of the best racing in the world, and this video proves it ten times over.
Channel 10 and Foxtel do not give you the same enjoyment as Channel 7, Like their Camera Angles they had. The Rear wing cam and the front bumper cam, my favirote way to look at battles cause you can see how close the drivers where to each over. keeps you on the edge of your seat.
Clearly a lot of people have never watched NASCAR and don't realize it's consistently the closest action motorsport around. Nearly every race is this close, the whole league was designed to be this close every time.
@Sehre Being close on road racing is different than being close on oval, and rather... In Nascar, it happen quit often that one car up front for a while and than being overtakes to be forgotten in the pack after the mid-race... Because it is an endurance test and some are racing slower than they could to save the car. Here, there is a consistent show.
I stopped being a NASCAR fan in the late 1990's, right after FORD discontinued the MN12 Thunderbird. I want TRANS-AM BACK (the car, too)! That was the best American Auto Racing. We got the cars now and generations of prospective fans in waiting in the wings.
@rdlx3m Sprint Cup races at Watkins Glen and Infineon, the N'Wide series runs at Watkins Glen, Road American, and Montreal(yes, that Formula One track). Oh, and the Nationwide guys have raced at Montreal in the rain twice, yes with rain tires and windscreen wipers. Ignorance is amazing.
at the end there when Matt White reckons he thinks he's seen it all...well The Giz gave him something else at the end of last year with the med car massage lol. great battle here by both. bring on COTF
@Sehre nascar is super close because all the cars are identical and the track is a circle. this take so much more skill to keep the racing close its not even worth mentioning nascar in the same sentence. thats why its so much more exciting to watch.
When they went 2 wide into the chicane Shane backed off but Jamie kept it full throttle thats why he got in the front, both should have kept it flat to the floor threw it but that rule they have with passing after missing that I guess it would be in one of the drivers favors.
@BRAD123FUN I wouldn't have. Nothing was gained or lost by them driving through, and attempting to throw themselves through the chicane would have resulted in a crash. But I know all that bumping from behind would have had other officials up in arms. It just happens in V8 Supercars and they go on. Awesome.
@3nasacova I saw those articles. They are generally discounted by other more numerous and credible articles saying the next Falcon and Mustang WILL share the same platform, RWD, IRS, V8s, etc. Further, in the US, The Falcon's platform may underpin a new RWD (Finally) Lincoln sport luxury sedan. FORD is pretty fixed on the Taurus as is and Lincoln is undergoing a major overhaul.
I am American, I used to be able to find V8 supercars on TV. I haven't had TV in 5 years though.. I'm not sure if it is still broadcasted on TV in America? If not what is my absolute best option to be able to watch the V8 supercars? Cheers!
I download the torrent files, but I also subscribe to their Superview. It' s about $50-$60 USD for the year, but it's solid www.supercars.com/superview/
This still gives me goosebumps watching it even now.
OMG Jamie's ability to stay cool, despite all of that pressure! Amazing driving and self control
This is the kind of video that should be in the core curriculum for auto enthusiasts.
That was, without a doubt, the most exciting bit of racing I've seen since the days of BTCC Supertourers. In-frickin'-credible! Now I have to find a way to watch V8 Supercars here in Europe.
This is the all around best racing series on Earth. I won't debate it.
Máté Ágoston What's better? Don't say F1 because those new pussy engines sound like my grandfathers 1992 Chevy Lumina.
Máté Ágoston Weak.
Máté Ágoston Weak. Buh bye.
Amazing racing, Wincups a legend in motorsport. V8 supercars are an exciting series every year.
ONE OF THE BEST FINISHES FOR A LONG TIME...LOVE IT !!!
This is fucking intense. I think I might start following this. Somehow.
Reminds me of touring car racing of the 90's (getting the cars on two wheels over the curbs!!!) which was one of the best eras in motorsport...but truly one of (if not) the best Touring car series in the world!
One of the best endings to a race for a long time
This racing series looks sweet. I love watching NASCAR, but I'm going to be watching this too from now on.
Holy shit! Absolutely amazing. I miss V8 Supercars so much!
Totally awesome, fantastic racing.
Cheers from the USA
This was amazing. I wish I would've started watching these in 2010 instead of last year... I wish I could've seen this live
Really enjoyed v8 supercars from 2010 to 2014
NASCAR and V8 was great!
nice driving, nice control of the car
vamos que ha sido una pasada de carrera
I get goosebumps every 3 weeks !!!

I just love all forms of racing. Le Mans, Formula 1, Touring Cars, V8 Supercars, Stock Cars, Rally, it's all very cool.
Shane is really good a future champion. He adaptation to Holden was very fast and the way he drives is spectacular. Lowndes fan.
Fair call tbh 👏
Sick driving, especially at the end. very thrilling.
people who dont like racing havent seen this. what a great racing series.
I don't care who you are, where you are from, or what you drive, that was some good racing right there!
Best wheel to wheel racing series on Earth.
I wish America had a race series as awesome as this.
NASCAR will never come close to THIS even with the road coarses.Absolutely Incredible.
That's why Marcus Ambrose went so well on the American road courses .
Nice fight at the end. Really epic.
This is the best racing I've seen since Lorenzo and Rossi at Catalunya in 2009. Damn.
Stoner vs. Rossi 2008 at Laguna Seca, better.
+Larks Tongues Hah, it means that you don't know about Ulster GP. :D
I saw a set of tyres ready to go on a car at Bathurst with the words - R.I.P QUEEN - written in chalk on them , pretty damn cool !!!
@NinjajoeIsBallin I agree 110%. This is some of the best racing I have EVER seen.
fantastic !
I just found out about this kind of racing... awesome!
Holy shit,,,musta been mowin' my bloody lawns when this was on.....exciting stuff !!
brilliant!!
Very very good drivers!
@Winterfang
Technically you're right ...but, if you could imagine what is at stake here and put yourself in the shoes of one of these drivers ...then you'd get it.

the best finish in any motor racing anywhere period bar none
This is REAL RACING!
OMG! Great race.
Utterly riveting footage.
OH MY GOD I JUST REALIZED YOU FOLLOWED ME ONTO THIS VIDEO
@gggromay The race was at Surfers Paradise, they were meant to imitate Speedos from what I could tell. But yeah I agree it looked funny...
I wish they had racing like this in the US
love this kinda racing!!
New favorite discipline of racing. Wow.
6 years later, top 2 are teammates, Winterbottom and Courtney Swap REC owners
Love that sound
13 years later Jamie Whincup is the team principal of the team he drove for and SVG (car 9) drives at JW's team

Awesome duel at 8:00 !!!

This is the Definition of 10 Tenths racing :D
amazing !
holy shit, that was some larry perkins quality racing right there.
Awesome awesome driving.
Fantastic
NASCAR needs to get on this level
V8 supercars = the future. I still love my NASCAR though... at least when they go to infineon and the glen.
Everyone on the planet was going for van gisbergan
No
man, this is some awesome racing....i live in the states and Ive gotta say....the racing is totally better than nascar. this is true stock car racing
need to get a series like this in the states besides ALMS

These two commentators are fairly good, from a german motorsport enthusiast's point of view.
awesome!
This is so much more entertaining than F1. I would love watching this on television!
And yea, FIA are you watchin?
@rdlx3m Sprint Cup races at Watkins Glen and Infineon, the N'Wide series runs at Watkins Glen, Road American, and Montreal(yes, that Formula One track). Oh, and the Nationwide guys have raced at Montreal in the rain twice, yes with rain tires and windscreen wipers.

I wish the DTM is so spectacular like the V8 Superstars
at the end there when Matt White reckons he thinks he's seen it all...well The Giz gave him something else at the end of last year with the med car massage lol. great battle here by both. bring on COTF
AWESOME! :-D and remenber F1 is the king of sports
Holy shit. Bitting my nails till the end.

@Hackzoid this was at the gold Coast in QueensLand, Australia :)
Dear Australians,
You are fucking awesome and I envy you.
Signed, a Dutchman.
At 4:20 on the main straight is that someone on the track on the LHS of screen??
thats a good race
holy shit that penultimate lap
@Sehre Saying NASCAR has as good action as V8 Supercars is like saying a merry-go-round is just as exciting as a roller coaster.
When they went 2 wide into the chicane Shane backed off but Jamie kept it full throttle thats why he got in the front, both should have kept it flat to the floor threw it but that rule they have with passing after missing that I guess it would be in one of the drivers favors.
i dont even know any of the drivers n im on the edge of my seat
This was really fucking cool. I love this video.
and yet in saying that here you are watching Australian V8Supercars.... enough said
these drivers are really fucking talented...wow...can't believe that is a version of my americanized holden
wow, this is so intense..
haha I didn't see that comment I was laughing so hard when I realized it was you xD
@NinjajoeIsBallin NASCAR is NASCAR. Gotta like it. but this race really was incredible.
best vs best vs best
Very good
@BRAD123FUN I wouldn't have. Nothing was gained or lost by them driving through, and attempting to throw themselves through the chicane would have resulted in a crash.

*Win cup* won ^^ Great race!

@@RumblestripDotNet Thanks very much cheers man!
@darkhunterz thanks mate.
wait till you hear one in person. best Sounding cars..after top door slammers of course.
FIA, are you watching?
So the difference between this and WTCC is in this one cars is more heavy?)
its something like touringcar racing?
i watched this allways at motors-tv (cause here in germany nobody knows that races)
@Sehre Yeah, with 20 oval tracks and 2 road courses throughout the season, NASCAR is about as interesting as watching the grass growing.
@rdlx3m There's 4 turns on an Oval. Not to mention the road courses.
A little too much contact, but man what a great end!
