Left 4 plus
falls from cliff
oh sorry i mean right 4 minus lol
😂
Climbing Mt. Washington is gnarly even driving at 25mph. Anybody who has done it and sees this video knows it take balls of steel and huge faith in your skills, co-pilot and machine to do it this fast.
25 mph is slow though?
+Bama Man Not if you're familiar with the road, it's a hazard to say the least.
bama, I almost crapped myself at 15 on that road. It's no joke. Those turns dont have rails and its almost always a couple hundred foot drop
It's a piece of cake until you get to the treeline then it's like white knuckle the rest of the way! I'll have to try this in the minivan with the kids soon...
;)
I've never seen rally before. that was insanely fast. just amazing.
+mustafamufasa Def look up dirt rally in dif stages around the world. truly an amazing sport. Also check out pikes peak hill climb :)
Mate go look at wrc flat out he makeing it look really really slow WRC better
I am as impressed by the navigator as I am with the driver. He never looks up from the paper. We did this drive yesterday and it's nuts to say the least.
+Dan Ritz That is one job I *would not want!!*
Can you imagine you took notes on that road and then returned the next day to hit it flat out as a passenger while reading said notes to Travis... 😅
He did look up in the beginning 1:15-1:20min mark
Travis Pastrana once underwent surgery to remove a thirty-four pound, seven inch wide tumor, but then the surgeons got in there and realized it was just his adrenal gland.
+yo thguy QUICK START RUNNING WILDLY AROUND PICTURE FRAMES ON TABLES AND VASES
AND...... oops comment is 4 months old, probably gone by
now....opportunity wasted, my friend
Yo The guy proly his left nut of steel! lol
Listening to the co driver talk is like listening to someone talk in another language
241Pizza Basically, numbers the single numbers (1-6) denote the sharpness of a turn - the lower the sharper. 6 being really gentle, no braking really required, to 1 being extremely tight, necessitating heavy braking before the turn. So "Right 6" means an easy right turn, "Left 3" means a fairly tight left turn. The "one hundreds" and "two hundreds" and so on are approximate distances (in meters usually) between turns. So "right 6, 100, left 3" means an easy right turn, followed by 100 meters straight, then a tight left. The rest is pretty self explanatory... "over crest", "tightens", "opens", etc. With those things in mind, try watching it again, and see if you can keep up.
Ryley Hayes what does minus and plus mean
Not entirely sure, everyone's calls are little different. It might be denoting the length of the turn, or it might be like a modifier on the tightness of the turn, IE 4-minus is a slightly tighter 4. But just watching the video again, I think the most likely thing is its referring to the camber (bank) of the turn. Plus means the road banks with the turn (like a NASCAR oval for example), and minus means the road banks against the turn.. so a right turn with minus camber has the road banking to the left while it turns right. Negative camber turns are obviously a lot tougher to make.
Ryley Hayes That's along the lines of what I was thinking too. the slope of the turn. was listening to Craig Drew as well on here, seems to have the same types of calls.
+Ryley Hayes Thanks, that was helpful.
5:47 "left 2 don't cut"
Pastrana cuts anyway
"ohohohohoh" XD best part
Lmao happens to me all the time on rally xD i always flip my car cutting smh
"Left 5 Watch 4 punctures!"
There are some insane sharp jagged rocks right on the shoulder.
7.6 miles / 6:20 = 72mph avg
nice
ELVING people probably think that’s slow, but that’s insanely fast on this road
Could be better in the near future
All in favor of bombarding the Dirt Rally website to put the Mt. Washington Road into the game. Here ye here ye!!
youreallthesame I will
в ней все равно физика на горе ужасна
I've driven up there. I like going fast in my car, but 35mph was my max up there. This dude is insane!
I've also driven the auto road. It took almost half an hour for me to reach the summit, in 2021 travis had a top speed in the section known as the meadow and hit a mind blowing 143 mph.
Absolutely insane driving from an ultra-talented and fearless driver
i just drove this for the first time yesterday. that road is insane to drive, once i got past the tree line and got to dirt i was freaking out. racing this INSANE. going down kills your brakes and its good to do those brake cool down areas. i wish i brought my heat gun
it was a rental van 2015 sienna
This car climbed Mount Washington
It's funny seeing comments "can't he go faster?" Dude is going 65+ the whole damn time. If that's not fast in a mt. Let's see you do it in your civic lol
+xXfresh12Xx Must be the same guys who add tow hooks and instantly gain 20HP lol
V8 V4 but they aren't purpose built racecars
xXfresh12Xx ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
He has earned the right to stick a "this car climbed mt. washington" sticker on his bumber XD
Did this drive a couple of years ago, though not quite as fast, but It's a must do for anyone who's touring in the area. The high point in every sense of my trip round New England.
Holy shit, I had chest pain watching this..these men have balls of steel!
I forgot to breathe for seven minuets
Literally
The precise work of the co-pilot is just amazing. He gives him eyes beyound the next coming bend. I am more impressed by the soundtrack than the images.
For all the ignorants that man did awesome. I've been at mt. Washington twice and it's a scary feeling going up 8 miles 6,288 feet over sea level with hills between 20 to 35 degrees of inclination. It looks like it's easy on camera but when you're going up it's another story. Not to mention the low oxygen because of the altitude which causes disorientation in human brain. I got really sick and it was unbelievable.
There are entire cities that are at a higher elevation than this. If you are getting sick from 6200 feet then you need to be medically examined.
I've hiked that thing 2 times. You hike half the way up through forest. When you come out of the forest you see hustling and bustling winds rolling over the top of Tuckerman's Ravine and you know you are in for a drastic change in weather. You crest the ravine. The wind and the cold hits you. Its 30°F colder up there climbing up through the clouds. Boulders await...all boulders all the way to the top. Its exhausting and yet exhilerating. Re-energize at the summit restaurant and take it in.
I watch this video now for 10 times and and it's still not boring!
The sound and a great driver wow ;)
I saw him at the NJMP back in 2011 at a rally-cross promotional event; he was still part of the SRT driving that Red Bull Subie, facing off with Tanner Foust in a Monster-sponsored Fiesta; what an epic day that was.
Thank you Red Bull so much for sharing this after the requests on the last video.
So cool to hear the the driving notes when you have played a lot of Collin McRae Dirt :)
Amazing teamwork between the Travis and his navigator. Pretty intense, my palms were sweating just watching the run. I've driven up Mt. Washington and I know that with the speed they're going, one bad turn and it's fatal. Travis is definitely honing his driving skills. Very cool. Makes me want to get a WRX... :-)
What a beautiful sound. Truly amazing turbo whistle
Having driven that road i can say that is ABSOLUTE madness. The perfect mix of talent and insanity.
Good job Travis!! Well driven! Close call on the 'do not cut' toward the top! We need to see you in the WRC !!!
Awesome run! I can't even imagine racing in a cloud on a road like that.
Red Bull has the best channel on youtube hands down!!
i worked on the summit for years. It is an exciting road at normal speed. Theat was 6 minutes of pure adrenaline!
loved it nice one travis
Beautiful 7 minutes!!!
Great Travis!!
such awesome notes.
loved it nice on travis
Travis is such a god. such a cool guy, and so diverse, massive thumbs up!
Travis Pastrana has no fear; this was amazing
4:55 Love it.
Great film Red Bull, tank you ^^
1 day man!!! I soo wanna do this! the adrenaline rush just from watching makes me hungry for it lool xx
travis pastrana is so chill
Your comment was very helpful, thank you , you are a prime example of the rally community.
Incredible.
His pacenotes are so perfect.
Those were some DAMN good pacenotes!
i respect this guy
Невероятный заезд! Один из лучших!!!
Travis is just an all round badass. Nice guy too
One word...... Awesome
We will miss you in rallying and other stunts with Subaru, Travis. Now go get'em in NASCAR!
I'm thankful that someone still drives a Subaru
05:19 "and left DON'T cut!" Lucky to get away without a puncture at 05:23.
Awesome drive Travis!
travis pastrana is awesome,extreme,sick.
Awesome and super duper fast!
@mariosboom I learned alot of this by playing dirt, but its alot more fun and interesting watching it. Cant wait till i finish school, this is on my to do early bucket list.
so effin awsome
its makes me cry
That was wicked.
Should check out the Pikes Peak Hill Climb. The elevation at the start of the course is at over 6,000 feet!
God damn, I knew Travis had gotten into rally car racing, but I had no idea he was this good at it!
Travis Perfects Everything =D
what a god given talent ...
those notes were really spot on, asside from the mistake or two, gangster note reading!..
successful. driving well
I applaud enthusiastically
A rally car race up this mountain would be awesome to watch
@AndyRock1 it is. Probably has an equal length header and a straight through exhaust. An Unequal length header is pretty much the sole contributor to the "boxer rumble", the straight cut gears also cover up the sound of the motor a fair bit.
I'm not an american rally fan at all but travis has shown his worth for sure and this rally looks like it would be such a blast to push threw!
man the last bit of footage was really something
right, left jiggy jiggy ahaha love it !!
David Higgins of Subaru Rally Team USA just completed the course at the official Mt Washington Auto Road Climb to the Clouds on June 26, 2011 in 6:11.54 .. had a fun time bein there .. how about that, Travis! Ya shoulda been there to defend your title ..
Jiggy jiggy lol
I drove up this mountain before, it's fun.
@CookeysAnMilk Kudos to you, my thoughts exactly. I think the subaru has a finely tuned exhaust system and backfire on downshift sounds like a pipe organ, but I might be wrong.
I drove this Spextacular Road about 3 times...I think my best time was an hour!!! LOL
Travis is a Master!!!
I'm the same way, when I put the throttle down, I turn off the radio so I can think in silence...I could never do what these guys do, its absolutely amazing...
Fricken insane
A lot of this is filmed with GoPro Camera! ++ Thumbs up!
I just drove the road yesterday. These guys are f'in crazy. That road is sketchy and narrow. No guardrails and steep drops.
MAD SKILLS ........TRAVIS BIG BALLS PASTRANA...
Awesome ♨♨♨👍😎♨♨
Travis Pastrana is just made of win.
I've been up that road multiple times. I have to say, it's not wide at all, especially near the top...just not a great way to go. But I love it.
he made a full run!
@mariosboom TY for the video I've always know the importance of the navigator, but now I understand whats he's saying.
i was just on the summit of mt washington today!
awsome
@JDCoolMan21 It's a description of the upcoming road. "50 right 5 plus" means "50 yards ahead, right hand turn. Take in fifth gear, accelerate out of turn."
its insane
awesome rear subframe on that car! Subaru all day!
@rufus324 yeah about a 3 hour drive from the mountain.and yes mt. washington does have the worlds most notorious weather.
@aphididae It`s the wires for the steering wheel buttons. :)
That turbo sounds at about 100 psi
straight cut gears i think
@MSuraev --I know exactly where that rock is lol! Its caught a few racers over the years. I can't wait to race this hill again!
So fucking amazing! Takes huge ball to do this!
wow what a driver !!!!!!
These rally drivers are amazing. When I drive and need to concentrate on what I'm doing I need silence in the car. These drivers not only have someone talking to them constantly but they also need to process what they are saying as well as focus on driving as well as make any necessary changes in their driving as well as push the limits so as to set a good time as well has hold in the nerves since they are driving as fast as possible through dangerous conditions. WOW!!!
When you are told "don't cut" you SHOULD NOT cut :-P
Great drive on a tremendous road!
@hereisjamz it's called pacenotes, a code that the co-driver reads to give the driver a clear picture of what's ahead in terms of speed, degree of corner, any surfaces changes, obstacles, cautions etc. a "6 left + 80 into 3 right gnarly jiggy jiggy 100 5 left" would be a very fast left that's a bit long(+) then 80 yrds/metres into tight right into a set of wiggles with caution & 100 yards/metres after the end of the wiggles there is a fast left corner.
@testradav - lolz! I like the part where he gets nervous and calls out plus instead of minus! That section is scary in a van doing 5 miles per hour!
my palm sweat watching this,i know this route..i did 5/mph with my car and scare man especialy on the un aspalt road..thumbs up
distance to, and severity of turns
@INeverSeenThisBefore, the previous record was held by an Audi S2 driven by Frank Sprongl in 1998.
