Ridley in Super Metroid is tough, but there are two hidden keys to beating him more easily. One is to camp and space jump continuously on the left side when he's not in view (you're invulnerable to everything but his tail when in a screw attack) to avoid damage. The second is to not use normal missiles if you run out of super missiles, they barely do any damage against him, and instead be patient and shoot charge beams. Before using these strategies I could only beat him like 1/10 tries, but now I can beat him pretty much every single time.
It's hard to imagine people so good at this game they can fight Ridley first. That means no heat protection suit, limited missiles and super missiles, and abysmal health
@@MasterofVirology ah, i was thinking you meant there was some crazy legitimate way lol, ive been playing it for the first time and aside from the controls being weird it doesnt feel like a snes game it feels modern, theres so much detail
@@DogsRNice the game does have a lot of exploits. I'm not sure if they legit or not. Like crystal flare is a legit method, but I didn't know about it til recently
honestly of all the Ridley fights I think this one is the most significant, you spent the whole game hunting down the beast that took the baby metroid, this monster also happens to be the one that murdered the protagonist's parents, and is usually the last one you fight. And when you do beat them.. the baby's gone.... setting up for the finale of the game.
@@msanlop1228 That's my line man i've got no idea what you meant with the "yo chill" post you wrote above that i can only assume you meant to say "joe chill" in reference to the man who killed Thomas and Martha Wayne in cold blood and led their only son Bruce Wayne on the path to becoming Batman. tip of advice for ya.....the grappling beam is great for killing the weaker enemies like the ones right before Ridley's room. The grappling beam kills them in one shot and is perfect for collecting items without having to jump out over the lava.
XD, Gotta love the Ninja Pirates here. Looks like they had to merge for some war. And nice job against Ridley. Really no good strategy other than spamming Super Missiles and Missiles at him. And finally all the expansions are collected!
Lol you made that same mistake every first time player always makes. Minimize going airborne, just morph ball around his guillotine tail and stay grounded while you shoot up at him. You take way less damage
I beat Ridley on my first try. However, I was dissatisfied with my performance, I went back and beat him two more times. The trick I used was to equip super missiles and screw attack jump over him back and forth from left to right keeping my distance. As soon as Ridley comes up, I shoot him on the way down.
Ridley in this game is the most bullshit boss battle I have come across in gaming. 99% of people are never going to find more than half the missile and health upgrades in this game without a guide and so won’t be able to do it; the only way without the correct amount of upgrades is to somehow master the bullshit controls of the screw-attack which would take more time than 99% of people will think is worth investing into this game.
I guess some leniency has to be given due to the game’s age... I’ve not played enough retro games to be able to compare this to them. There were no moments in SMB as bad as this fight at least. ALTTP needs a walkthrough I guess... but I don’t remember needing to cheese any of the bosses or use a guide to power-up to a level greater than that which I was already at. I would say don’t play Super Metroid if you want a game that will give you a lot of fun without much compromise-like a good modern game would-; rather it needs to be played with the caveat that it is dated and you should probably fill up on good modern games before playing it so as to keep supplies in your fun-tanks high enough to last you through this game. Having said that there’s a lot to like about Super Metroid nevertheless.
Unpopular opinion: for this fight (and this fight *exclusively)* I think it's more interesting to watch someone barely scrape by then to watch someone nohit the boss and make it look super easy. I dunno why, it's just more exciting.

This helped massively, thanks!
Charge beams! Tried it out after seeing your comment and beat him straight away, thanks!
I actually was finally able to beat him thanks to you! I had no idea charge beams were so good compared to regular missels
Ridley is easier to kill if you just point up and unload all your missiles as fast as you can when he comes near the bottom of the screen.
I love everything about this area. The heat, the badass music leading up to Ridley. And the fight and battle music of Ridley himself

Fun fact: Ridley uses roars that are taken from anguirus from the godzilla series.
Samus:Time to get him back

Samus:Sh*t he's gone.
Shit he’s gone- Oh look, an energy tank!
Magmoor Caverns from Metroid Prime uses a remix of Norfair from this game. I never knew that.

I cheesed Ridley in the most unusual way. It got stuck on the left side of the stage and never moved.

The key to Ridley is SUPER MISSILES. If you have all 50 of them he's not that hard. Just fire away!
compared to zero mission this one is better by a long shot

I wish they kept his super Metroid screech.
Dr.Ferret yeah, it sounds less like he’s screaming and more monstrous in general
Ridley's screech in Metroid Fusion: the sound of *HELL ITSELF.* 🔥🔥🔥😓😫
You know, the Space Pirates look quite similar to the Chozo . . . I wonder . . .
ones a bird with epic feathers and hella big size
other one is a space lobster with ray guns implanted on the hand

wow, this Ridley can take Super Missiles like a boss. the one in Zero Mission is killed by just 8 good hits.

Fuck this Ridley version was harder than any other Ridley fight imo. First thing to do is quickly spam the missle button when he appears.
similar though
