    Thank you for the 'logarithmic and perceived loudness' part. I'd heard something like that, before, but my failure to internalize it makes it difficult to use compressors effectively without some kind of graphic. But no longer. NO LONGER.

    In music, you're basically having a conversation...
    "Hi. I'm Underbelly"... Is a question.
    "And you suck at producing."... Is an answer.
    "Okay, socheckit." Ooh. Bit of a dodgy question here....

    so the track volume is peaking at -4.15 db but the master volume is peaking at -3.85 db.
    why is there a difference when there's only that one track playing?

    • @189Blake
      @189Blake 5 лет назад +3

      If you look closely, his master isn't at 0dB, but at 0.3dB. That's why there's a difference.

    Is it a good idea to put a limiter on the master while making a song or should you decrease the volume of individual tracks?

    • @yousuckatproducing
      @yousuckatproducing  8 лет назад +19

      decrease volume. Limiting should be the last thing you do.

    • @gabeholohan
      @gabeholohan 8 лет назад +6

      I put a limiter on my master track after everything has been mixed to make it sound beefier. If you need a limiter before the song is done your tracks are probably too hot. Thats just what I do
