Setting up the Yongnuo 560-TX with the Yongnuo 560-III flashes. This enables the "Group" function on the 560-III flash that is not enabled from the factory.

We have the Yongnuo YN 560-TX manual flash controller along with two Yongnuo YN 560 III Speedlites. Using this controller with this Speedlite, the biggest problem is how do you get them to work together. It’s very easy. We can see that this group function right here on a standard YN 560 III flash does not come enabled from the factory and so all we have to do is activate that. Once you activate it it is good to go with any transmitter. A lot of people think that you are pairng the transmiter to the flash, but you’re not. All that you are doing is activating the group function here on each of the flashes. Unfortunately, I have already done that so I can’t show you, but if you got this from the factory this would be blank, it wouldn’t even be there, you would just see a channel number and, of course, the digit dip switch. So what you do to get the group activated is simply hold down the zoom channel and the Hz/FN button at the same time, so let’s do that. This is known as the ACT screen. This makes your flash screens light up and you would just simply press okay. That should enable the group setting. Now that we have had that done on both of these, we can see what that actually means. I have set this flash to group A. This flash to group B. They’re both on channel 1. Easy enough to change your group. Hold down the mode and the wireless button, what I call the wireless button or the wifi icon, up and down, you can go all the way through F, A-F. I will put that back on A. Same thing, this wifi icon button and the zoom button gives you your channel and so we use the left and right buttons to go through. You can see it changes your dip switches. This is for people using the RF 603 wireless transmitters. Those were what you used with those Speedlites or to activate those Speedlites before this came out. This evidently was an afterthought or something that was just not put in to production. So we’re going to leave that to channel 1. On the transmitter, if you want to change your channel you just simply hit the group button and it will scroll through A, B, C, and if you press and hold it will get you to the D, E, F screens. I have two flashes here, A and B, so on A you can do left and right and it’s big steps. Let me switch hands so you can see. You can see that it’s quite fast. Going up and down will give you the incremental power outputs, so 1/32 plus a 3rd, 132nd plus .7, and then go to 1/16 and you can see that right there. Now you may ask, “Well what about if I want to zoom?” You can hit the zoom channel button and you can then just simply increase your zoom. You never have to touch your flash or bring down the umbrella or run to a room or whatever you’re trying to accomplish either as a strobist or as a general photography. Your mode button…hit okay and that gets you out of the screen. Hit your mode button and it will change it to the multi *****blanket out. I prefer manual. I think most people who use these flashes will. These are manual flashes. They’re no high speed syncs. That could be important to you if you demand high speed sync. I generally do not. It makes these flashes inexpensive. They come in at about $75 a piece and you get your transmitter for another $49. Amazon is where I get all of my flash equipment for this and camera equipment. They ship with a nice case, which I don’t see, and this stand which comes off. So that’s it. That’s the quick, down and dirty, how do I get my Yongnuo 560 III working with my transmitter. Hello can the YN622tx be used on the YN560III system?
Lol, I know you did this years ago but THANK YOU! I couldn't figure out for the life of me how to get one of my 3 to get on group.
These may be older models, but they still work. And if you have ther TX transmitter, it is not obvious how to get the flash and the transmitter to talk to each other. This video saves the day. Thank you.

Thank you for this video! I could not figure out how to turn on the group feature on the flashes, so easy once I see how it's done! I love these flashes, especially for the price. I used two recently for a band shoot - positioned in different locations - but realized after that I needed the manual controller. I can't wait now to try again w/ the controller in the same setting.

+Eric Barger I am wanting to get a TTL/ HSS flash (YN568 EX II). Would I be able to have that work with my 560 TX + 3 other 560II flashes. Is this possible to have HSS or TTL work with the other units or will I need a different remote? (Thanks again for the great video)
You will have to get the remote that matches the 568 in order to have HSS or TTL. I do believe it will fire 560 flashes (I have not confirmed this).
+Eric Barger That could be an awesome video, how to set up 568EX II & 560III to use ttl for your key and hss as well. Would the 560III be used in slave2 mode bypassing the ttl and able to use the HSS?
I *think* it may be possible to use the HSS part on the 560iii. Would take some hands on time to figure it out.

Worked for me if your not getting the group part up you probably just need to push the button on the flash quicker. You can do the flashes at different times. Thanks Eric saved me a headache
+Michael Guest Thanks a lot! That did the trick for me. I had tried to activate the group function at least 5 or 6 times before with no luck and thought the flash may be had an old firmware. This time I almost simultaneously pressed the OK button on the flash with the two buttons on the controller.

HELP can not run or I FIND Gr - A1
I have two YN 560 III and YN 560- TX controller - trigger . One is connected and works perfectly , while others can not connect with trigger comptroller 560 III -TX because it has no display Gr - A1 . It will not work for either the multi mode only blue light indicates that it is connected and clicking flash with both flash but does not adjust. Heeeelllpppp

No there's more to it than that - I did what you've just shown for about half an hour it just didn't work the group would not appear on the flash screen. Then I switched my flash to 'Multi' and it worked. Unfortunately there isn't one single demo online that takes you through it from a untouched flash and this is why so many people are having difficulty setting them up. You'd think the manufacturer would have a basic video to help people.
I plan on getting in a new 560 IV. I will also make a note in the video. Thank you for that tip. I thought I had it down but I overlooked it being set on Multi. Much appreciated.

I don't think you can.
press the zoom/CH and Hz/Fn at the same time and watch your flash screen will show all the icons. Just press Ok button and it should work. I had the same problem and by doing this solve my problem.

I have this on my Nikon D7200 and if i rase Shutter speed over 1/300 then bottom on photo come black bar and over 1000 then half photo is black.
Air Spike Because that shutter speed is faster than your camera’s flash sync speed. Google D7200 sync speed.

@@airspike9561 You will need to buy speedlites/flashes with High Speed Sync (HSS). The problem you have besides more cost (Yongnuo sells flashes with HSS), is power drop off. 1) on the YN-560 III Confirm RF 603 (Press the FN combination * FN * press both buttons next to FN. scroll down to the "RF" 60 [2/3] make it RF 603. the RF603 must also be set on the 560-TX, not sure how to check that - but mine was already set.
2) on the YN-560-TX press the *ACT* button combination
3) the YN560 III screen will show all the icons quickly PRESS and Quickly RELEASE the Center Button in the navigation buttons (5 buttons without markings)
4) the GR icon is now displayed

1 out of 3 YN560III work correctly - 2 are stuck on full power at every setting - wtf
grayphotojournal You have two bad Yongnuo flashes. This is a common symptom when they go bad. I have one that shoots full power. Something on the inside gets burned out or fails and causes this. The Fox is to purchase a new one. Can be caused by fast recycle or just a lot of flashes on the units.

thanks Eric, you mean the ONLY way it will work is if the flash is on M mode? weird, cause usually these flashes have to be in RX mode to receive the signal from the 560TX
+Alfio Lora I mean something different. The 560s are manual flashes and the 568 is more advanced. Combine the two and you can't expect the 560s to do TTL.
