Great review! Have you ever had the test button fire your flashes but your shutter when released will not (when the TX is mounted on the hot shoe)? I have my shutter speed at or under 1/250 and it is firmly in place on the hot shoe. This has happened to me on three different shoots and I can't figure out why.

very good review, got myself a TX sat here right now but still waiting on the 560III to arrive, i have a 460II but no rf603's, again the rf603 trigs are on order, the only trigs i have are cheap and nasty Kaavie ones, which misfire 50% of the time! That remote shutter feature was a bit of a deal breaker for me, i do quite a few self portraits (not selfies lol) so a wireless shutter release is essential for getting the most out of my shoots, saves so mich time and you get double, if not quadrouple the amount of images i would get with just doing the self timer option. The fact that i can control newer speedlights from yongnuo through the TX isn't really a big deal to me, so im keeping the 460II as a spare flashgun! Just cant wait for them all to arrive now =)
Thanks for the rapid answer. I think I'll be getting two 560-IV. The TX is about $50 on amazon the flash is only an extra $20. Now I have to decide on lens. I got a nikkor 50mm f1.8. I want something really wide angle but I think the 14-24 f2.8 is way expensive and my crop sensor defeats the purpose of that lens. Thinking about the Tokina 10-17? Any thoughts. I kind of like landscape

I am buying two Yongnuo YN-560 IV and a Yongnuo YN560-TX, will it be sufficient to trigger the two flashes off-camera.
Yes, in fact it can trigger as many flashes and you'll ever need, as long as the flashes are in range of the 100m radius.

Why, when using the Canon mobile app to shoot through your canon camera does the yongnuo 560 flash series not flash but when you physically press the shutter button it goes off? I am shooting with the 560tx on top of the camera btw.

Hi. I have a question: When I place the tx on my camera to trigger the 560 iv, it works when I press the button on the camera. However, when I use the Canon app to take a photo, the flash doesn't go off. Does the physical button need to be pressed in order for the tx to trigger the off-camera flash?
Will the 560TX control Nikon Speedlights as well or do I need the 622n and it's receivers to do that?
I have a canon 70d and recently purchased a YN560-TX and two YN560-IV. I have the transmitter synced to the flashes but when I put the transmitter on camera it doesn't trigger. I've tried resetting, cleaning hot shoes and everything I can think of but it still won't work. Please Help?

You made a great review, as usual! Very clear and helpful. My problem with this trigger is that I get off-sync when higher than 1/125 with yn560III... Can you, please, tell how high can YOU go with the shutter speed in your camera until you get off-sync flash when using yn560-tx as trigger for your YN560III and IV? A short video test on this will be highly appreciated, cause nobody covers this topic yet...Many thanks!!!

I have tested it on my 5D Mark III, and I was able to get it up to a maximum shutter speed of 1/200. Banding starts occuring at 1/250.
On my 70D, the maximum shutter speed I can get to is 1/320. Banding starts to occur at 1/400.
The max sync speeds appear to be a match to my camera specifications.

Hi, I have YN560 IV speed light and YN560 TX controller, but i am having a small problem and I hope you could kindly help me. when I use the multi mode just on the YN560 IV it works, ie. 5x10 5 flashes in 10 hertz, but when I do the same from the YN560 TX in multi mode only one flash happens. I am using Channel 1 and Group A for both Manual and Multi. Can you help me to fix this problem please ?

+R. B. T. (Maybe or Maybe Not) You have to manually change the power, zoom, etc. on the 568EX. I have the 568EX II (Canon) so I know.

NikonEntrylevel Yes. You can trigger as many YN-560 III and non Yongnuo flashes. The only condition is that the non Yongnuo flashes would need a device to "receive" the trigger signal...so you'll need an RF-603 type of transceiver attached to your non Yongnuo flashes.

Yes you can, and it will trigger. However you will not be able to change the 568EX (connected to the 603) flash output remotely via the Tx.

It should also be noted here: You can have the 560TX in hand or on a table top with a 603 receiver on hot shoe and one in hand and you're able to fire shots wth the 603 trigger in hand AND control the flashes with the 560tx!! Shooting tethered, you can sit at your laptop and just hit the trigger button on screen and turn on/off your lights, control zoom, power, etc - all while sitting at the computer! Tethered removes the need for even the 603 triggers! It is an insane deal at $40!!
I see that it looks like you're using this on a Canon T4i. I have a Yongnuo YN622C and it makes it so that I CAN'T use Auto Exposure Bracketing. I'm curious to know if you can still use Auto Exposure Bracketing in P mode while using the YN 560 Tx flash trigger. Please advise.
realityhyp I don't think that's possible, since the 560 Tx is a manual trigger.

+Ware Seeker Set the 560-IV to RCV but you set the power manually (a condition that you get approximate triggers for the specific camera, i.e. RF603C for Canon, RF603N for Nikon). A suggestion is to get a 560TX so you can control the 560-IV.

Antonio Acosta This will not trigger the 568 on itself. You'll need to attach some sort of receiver like a 603 or 605 (supports grouping) to the 568 to trigger it.
You mention that the TX comes in separate Canon and Nikon mounts. But, I have not seen that anywhere there are only listings for the TX everywhere I search. No TX-C or TX-N.

+Joe Hood Yes, you can use RF602, RF603 or RF603II( set as RX) connected to your monolight but you set/change the power to your monolight manually.
I'm brand new to photography. havent even bought a flash yet. I have watched alot of videos about One light. so i am going to try and learn using 1 flash. my question should i buy tx or would you buy a second 560-IV and use it as a flash commander? The tx sounds like a good idea for a bunch of flashes but Im going to trigger 1 flash.
If you spend the budget on another IV then you can have an extra flash standing by if you ever need it. The choice is still entirely up to you though ;)
I have a question about an specific setup I am planning to use.
Since I do NEED an on-camera flash for wedding work for the focus-assist beam I'm planning to put the SB900 directly in the camera and then use a PC-to-hotshoe adapter to trigger the 560TX.
So this would be fine? And how much does it weight? I do have a horizontal bracket for it to attach it to the tripod mount and have it to the left side of the camera (looking from the screen side)

andywhufcno1 But I like to use the focus assist beam from the flash. And also serves as a double duty when the subject moves away from the off-camera flashes that I leave on stands in the reception hall. Mostly just for fill a bit.
Do I need the Flash Transmitter to sync all flashes or can I just hook 1 of the yongnuo RF-603 NII to my Nikon d7000 and trigger all flashes with one channel? I'm trying to see if I can spend less money and still use 3 flashes. thanks.
assuming all your flashes are either YN560 III or IV, then yes, one is all you need. The 603 can do that just fine, but the Tx allows you to remotely control the output and zoom of the flashes.

Miles Gomme You can't assign a 603 to a group, it will fire every time. You can however do that with a 605C, but it works only with the 560 Tx and other 605C's.

I am debating on the yn560-iii vs the yn560-iv (I have watched both tutorials on those, but in your opinion which would you get if you were doing just basic portraits at most using 2 or 3 flashes?). What are the benefits of using the 560tx trigger vs the 603c trigger? Would one benefit be that if I were only using one off camera flash I could change the output of the flash using the 560tx vs having to walk over to the flash if I used the 603c?
Also, I currently have 3 pocket wizard multimax, would I be able to use those to trigger these flashes with some sort of cable? I am finding your videos very helpful in understanding a lot more about flashes, thank you!
ChasenJersey Personally I would get 560III's with a 560Tx trigger. Being able to remotely change the flash settings is just wonderful. I also have a 560IV lying around in case I want to trigger multiple 560III's and also have an on-camera flash unit that fires.

The only difference between the III and IV is that the IV has a transmitter. If you want to control a flash off camera then yes, you'll need a 560 Tx or another 560 IV. The Tx does a way better job at controlling flashes compared to the 560 IV though.

The 560Tx and 560 IV do not have separate versions for Canon/Nikon.

Ah yes, sorry bout that, my mistake. For Sony I believe either should work, I assume the different versions just have something to do with the shutter release function when it comes to using the Tx as a receiver for remote shutter release.

Hi. I have a question regarding the off-camera flash settings for 560 TX or 560 mark 4 in a master mode. If those want to be the master source to trigger other light sources and located off camera, how can the camera send the signal to them. My thought is to have a separate pair of 603c on camera and on 560 TX or 560 mark 4 so that they can be triggered in slave mode from the camera and then following that act internally through their built-in radio to be in master mode to trigger other slave lights with power control capabilities. Does this work or is there a better way to do it?
The master trigger has to be on your camera. Anything off your camera is a slave. The IV will be able to function as a master and also trigger itself.
So it cannot work both as a master and a slave at a same time through two different radios, one internal and one external via 603c? If that is the case, what would be the solution for cases where all light sources need to be off camera? Is it always the case that the master light should be placed on the camera hot-shoe in order to work this or are there other ways to work with this? Thanks for your help.
fbahari Use the 560 Tx, it is transmitter-only, or any of your 603's on your camera will also work as transmitters. With that all you need to do is make sure all your slaves are compatible to receive the trigger signal.
ZY Productions Thanks bro. One more question, if I want to keep the E-TTL mode in the set of the flashes, do I need to have all my flashes to be e-ttl capable or is it enough only for the master flash to be e-ttl and trigger the regular slaves flashes? Thanks again for your valuable advice.
The wireless setup is not compatible with TTL.

If your camera has a standard hotshoe it will work. The Sony NEX-6 should have a standard hotshoe, so yes, it should work, grouping feature too. :)

Given it's a non-TTL trigger, I suppose either would work. Honestly speaking I am not sure why is it in Canon and Nikon mounts, since all it needs is the trigger signal from the camera...

+Abdul Rafay Yes, but you can use the 560IV as a controller too to control another 560IV or 560 III. The 560 IV has the built-in functional of the 560 TX. Summary, you don't need a 560 TX to control a 560 III or 560-IV flashes, you can use the 560-IV to control them (560 III or another 560-IV). I hope that was clear.

I am trying to activate my YN560 lll but what ever I do it does not show the group selection, what should I do?
You need to press the two buttons together to send the activation signal. Then give the centre button on the 560 III a good press. Took me a few tries before it worked.

***** Just got 2 flashes and the transmitter and had the exact same experience. Just a quick push of the OK button will activate the group. In other words, holding down the OK button will NOT activate it. Small point, but crucial!

Hi Alfio, 560tx only works with the 560 series flashes, however, it does have some functionality with the new YN-685 in manual mode but haven't played with that yet.

thats similar to canon's faar more expensive system...for its price I think it rules the game,yn 560 II,III.IV are great flashes with great output also similar to canon 580 guide number and great control with lovely display.Yongnuo is a big hit on the pro game
anestischatzibeis I love the 560Tx system. Canon has their 600EX-RT system which is very expensive. However what that offers that this doesn't is high speed sync, rear curtain sync and TTL. However if you do not need the TTL features then this system is all you'll need.
