Breaking In My Mercury 250 Pro XS (First Fish In The New Boat!)

Breaking in your engine properly is crucial for the life it. I recommend that you run the first 2 hours 4500 rpm or less with the trim all the way down and the jackplate down as low as it will go also. After that initial 2 hour period is over you will want to run the boat for no longer then 5 minute intervals at top speed. This also goes for any other speed as well, you will want to vary the rpm and speed for the next 8 hours you put on the engine. In total the break in period is 10 hours long. After that you can run the boat how ever you please. I hope that this information is helpful the next time you invest in a new boat with a Mercury engine.
