- In today's video we meet a retired couple who were tired of the Utah Winters so they bought a van, did a simple conversion to it and hit the road to warmer climes, travel and adventure. Along the way they found a new and wonderful life for themselves. If they can do it, anyone can do it!

Thanks for watching!
43 three years married and on a new adventure ... they rock ! Thanks for sharing Bob W. !!!!!!!
I love them, their van and their ingenuity. Basic builds are the best in my book. Don’t like something? Rearrange!
Good organization and I love the no waste philosophy. We should all live that way.
Jay Harter you need to surround yourself with more like minded folks😊
I'm old enough to remember a time when we were not a "throw away society". It seems everything is disposable today including interpersonal relationships and it is truly sad.
@Jay Harter Sue on the Sue Me RUclips Channel says that if you put it in a pretty box it isn't hoarding. 😄 I think the same goes with Theresia's bins and bags - if you can put it in a pretty box, bin or bag, it isn't hoarding.
@@geriatricgypsies6172 Oddly, I am super thrifty and not into throwing things I can re-purpose, but my mom is a tosser. She was almost 10 at the beginning of Great Depression. She HAD to look rich at all costs. It consumed her.
@@geriatricgypsies6172 You two are an inspiration. My husband and I are absorbing videos/knowledge getting ready to go on the road. We live west of Palm Springs. My husband is aiming to retire in July 2021. Plan on getting a Chevy Express cargo van also. We are doing the same piece together what we have plan. Best I can tell we have everything we need for our van build. Our local Buy Nothing Group on FB has been a great resource for purging what we don't need and gather what we think we need. I do loads of dehydrating when produce is on sale. We eat well on the cheap. We will attend the RTR. Maybe we will meet up there.
We meet such wonderful people on Bob's channel.
We sure do
Thank you Maria. We believe in being "nice" rather than using energy to make other peoples' lives more difficult. We're all dealing with something and do not need others to pile on more. Shalom and Happy Trails! 👵 🚐
Theresia, you need to get yourself an Etsy shop because I already know I need some of those mason jar cozies! Also some crocheted pouches and a cooking series. You're an amazing woman!
Very creative!! Love their spirit
She could do well selling her crochet. The work is lovely!
She is "Retired" .... Geeeezus ... She did all that Crocheting for her "own" use... NOT to make a BUCK !! Can you say "RETIREMENT" ? ? ? ?
@@ricks.1318 I can say retirement. I am retired. I can also say 50$ or so cash money to do what is a treat for them. Don't be a douche dude.
@@janebute2541 I agree! I can't wait until I can sit in the Arizona sun in winter and crochet. If you like to crochet it isn't a job. What is a problem is people ordering things they want and having deadlines. Put up for sale what you feel like making and just don't take orders. Great way to support a yarn addiction!
I truly enjoyed this couple and they're frugal means of living. For being married for 45 years they have shown not only is it possible for two people to live in a van but that love can keep you together💕
I’ve learned from all your videos that being organized is key! I crochet 🧶 so I like how she has used that to to organize everything. 🌻🍂🍁
⁵⁹
He is so lucky to have her. My late wife was like her.
You saying that brought tears to my eyes. Sorry for your loss.
Christopher, thank you for your kind comment but the truth is we both feel very blessed to have found each other and had nearly 50 years together! I am sad that you could not have had more time together with your loved one. Shalom and Happy Trails! 👵 🚐🌞
Its good to see couples that have been together that long grasp the new lifestyle and make it work. They have shown us that you don't need a big expensive rig to live comfortable. They may have taught us all something.. Good work
It's good to see a couple of folks their age happy with this lifestyle. Pretty spry too!
@Jay Harter The reason i say "their age" is, they're MY age (at least), 63. I'm seriously interested in doing the same thing, so it's good to see people MY age doing it. It seems that the majority of folks in this lifestyle are younger than I, so anytime I see someone MY age (or older) living it, HAPPILY, I get a better feeling about it.
Love her jar cozies!!!
Love it.. I like how she used a cooking sheet for a table on tripod stool, way too cool!
Yes, they're very smart - thinking outside the box - literally! :)
I love Bobs videos. He does such a good job interviewing these peoples. He doesn’t take over. I so want to live this way
I love this couple. .no complaints easy going..very nice set up.. very cozy... Thanks Bob....
Such a lovely couple. I love the name. Geriatric Gypsies. Her crochet work is beautiful and so organized with it. I enjoyed listening to both of them. Super delightful people.
I am going to look up the Thrive now, thank you.
Theresia, I would love to know how you crocheted those lovely square bins - gorgeous and practical! You should sell the pattern!
That could be her next video on you tube.
You can RUclips search crochet square basket, I've made a few
Kim, I already had the collapsible bins so I just simply made covers for them. They really don't stand up well on their own. They were just meant to pretty up the space since I didn't think I could handle all the brown all the time. Shalom and Happy Trails! 👵 🚐🤗 💕
Gosh you guys are so smart and innovative. I admire what you’ve done. As an income stream I’ll bet you could sell those jar cozies. I hate hearing my stuff rattling around as i drive those bumpy desert roads.
Awesome couple. The brand of dehydrated goodies they use is so appropriate because they are certainly thriving on the road! Love the use of crocheted covers and totes to store and protect their food and other supplies. Thanks Bob (& KC) for another awesome video!
Absolutely ADORE these two!! Love their attitudes and smiles!! Safe and happy travels to you both!! And to you, Bob.. Always!!
Cool ideas... Sometimes this channel is actually, "FrugalRVLiving".
Love their build & their attitude! Thanks, Bob!!!😊❤️
Neat couple ... Geriatric Gypsies ... Hurrah .. Love your title
@Pamela Peterson we can't take credit for the channel name. Our son was the one that came up with that!
It's all about the choreography.
Yep! Those dance steps are important when you're dealing with 60 square feet!
@Jay Harter the coyotes actually were right outside our"tin tent" a.k a. Van since we were sitting right next to a wash. I could hear the rustling of the brush which is what woke me up. They couldn't have been more than 15 feet away from our bed! It was our first encounter with the wild life and we were safely nestled in our beds! Love those campfires. Don't know if we'll ever get to enjoy that again because my DH suddenly experienced kidney failure without any explanation. Van travel and boondocking is no longer an option for us but we're grateful for the time we did have earlier in 2019! Enjoy every moment because your life can sure change in an instant! Shalom and Happy Trails 👵 🚐❣️
Geriatric Gypsies We all wish you and your husband improved health. Thank you for sharing your lives with us.
@@geriatricgypsies6172 "Those dance steps are important when you're dealing with 60 square feet!" LOL!
I love all the crocheted touches - useful and adds character.
She is adorable with her rainbow coloured life. You can beautify any home with love
She should sell the jar covers on your Amazon account they would be a hit!!!!!
Wonderful, happy and loving couple! So much of an inspiration. Even in how to think and love one another. And Theresia's crocheting has really come in handy in that van! May God Bless the two of you in your travels!
“Awesome “ Congratulations 🎊🎉🍾 45 years of marriage.
Great couple! Love their frugal-minded lifestyle!
Loving couple , 😆👍.
Her dehydrated food/spice storage was the highlight of this video for me. Plus, I now know that I MUST learn to crochet.
Great vid! Sweet Couple!
With all due respect, they are an adorable couple. God bless and Many happy travels and continued life experiences!! Thank you Bob for sharing and your continued kindness, many blessings to you!
Super fun couple! All those crochet coozies are fantastic and very marketable! Gonna go ck out their channel. Would love to hear more about freeze-dried food and how to acquire, store and cook with it. Thanks Bob!
What a lovely couple. Really enjoyed this video, truly an inspirational couple. Just goes to show you if you are creative and really want to get out there with not much money you can do it!
Thank you Bob for another great interview!
Great video Bob thanks for sharing enjoyed the nice couple.
Love the crocheted pouches that Theresa made very effective and colorful!
I'd never thought of the use of bulk freeze dried foods before (somehow, in my mind, that was within the purview of backpackers or "survival preppers"). But it's a REALLY clever solution for van dwellers, too. I'm going to keep that in mind...
Really Nice Couple, ... Sweet, Honest, Helpful, Encouraging, Down to Earth etc ~ Just like our Bob !!! : )
Love your Crocheting (patterns) on your Baskets - very Cheery !!
What a great way to use your yarn stash before you get on the road! Then you don't have to worry about giving your away or selling it. I have also torn up old sheets and made rugs. That would be great for a van, too. I am so glad I watched this video. It has given me some great, unique ideas! Thanks so much!
Sweet couple, sweet ideas 🙂 Luv their RUclips Channel Name 🤣 Thanks for sharing Bob! ૐ☮ღ
Wow, Theresia I love your and your husbands way of doing things. Am saving this video and going to your website to as much as I can. Thank you for letting people know that you dont all kind of expensive things to do this. God Bless.
Bob, I think you need to give up on the "no couple in a van" thing. For many people, the stress of driving and finding room for a bigger rig is more damaging to a relationship than giving each other space, which isn't that hard. Different stokes for different folks!
There are many successful stories of couples living in a van, I agree!
I think Bob is RIGHT .... But as seen in this video, there ARE a "couple" exemptions to that rule ..... VERY FEW exemptions , in a Class B, anyways .....
@@ricks.1318 In all seriousness, it really can be done. For us the key is to get or build a type with two different hanging out zones.
The freeze-dried food approach is absolutely brilliant! I hope that this wonderful couple is able to have many beautiful adventures together!
I really need to learn how to crochet, it really brightens up ones living space. A beautiful and lovely couple. Thank you for finding these gems, I learned a thing or two, which is always a good thing in my book.
My kind of people
Great budget build that could be doable for many! Lovely couple!
Very colorful organizational containers...Cool couples. thank you for sharing 💖 👍
She’s very creative! Great crochet hacks. Cute couple, hope they are still out enjoying themselves
They are fantastic!!! Absolutely love her and all her great ideas!
What a lovely couple! Really appreciate her homemade items and reuse of things. Good reminder to all that reduce/reuse can be helpful.
Once again crochet saves the day!!!
It's great to see a couple out there making it work!!
Just like the wisdom of wearing clothes in layers, having the mattresses in smaller sizes stacked allows options to restack or discard what is no longer useful. Great idea ! I am always surprised there aren't more people using dehydrated foods. I believe it's because they are educated on HOW TO and fear the taste. This would be a great video teaching RV'rs HOW TO utilize this space saving food.
Great video
Good to see a couple living a simple enjoyable life without solar or a fridge
What a sweet couple! Love how thrifty she is! 🌸👌
What a wonderful couple!
Another cute & happy couple! Her crochet thing was a major inspiration to me.
Lovely couple. Thank you for sharing your amazing van and innovative ideas. Happy Trails.
Once again......excellent! I love all her colors and creativity. Beautiful couple. Thank you.
Good for you guys.
You have obviously worked on making your life.
I too crochet and I love the colors and the build is nice and easy. What a joy to see you and your husband live life.
Great ideas, for sure! Thanks!! My Dad too lived through the depression, on his own at 16, and frugal use of what you already have has always been a part of our lives. Dad used old metal bodied flashlights and a piece of broken tent stake bolted together to create a fishing pole holder! Worked great! All kinds of ways to repurpose junk and make life easier, more fun. Great way to go.
That is love.
Love this couple. So many helpful ideas.
What a beautiful, happy, content folks. Loved this and all her ideas!
Love all the crocheting
Good show Bob, thank you.
So happy...another win!
Chagrin that's a very nice word 👌 also really nice van build and thanks Bob for putting this video together
Theresia I to love to crochet. Love all the little bags you have put to use and the covers for jars, plastic bends and such. Lovely work... Bob great interview..
Awesome couple...love the three R approach too.
Re-use,repurpose, and recycle!
Saves a lot of money
A DELIGHTFUL couple !! Very inspiring, full of GREAT tips, ideas of GOOD methods for storage in a van .... Extremely "practical", nothing wasted !!!
Thank you. What a cute couple!
What a wonderful couple and they have so many great ideas. I’ve heard of “Thrive” foods and glad to see someone is using them in this way. I love to crochet and was excited to see all the useful ways crochet can be incorporated into van life.
Thanks Bob 👍✋👏🌹 Nice video
I love this. Thanks for sharing your experience with us. Escaping freezing temperatures is a great idea 👍
You two are Very Inspiring.
Love the way you guys have it together. Do what you can with what you have. Multiple use items are essential. Thanks.
I absolutely love those coloured storage boxes/baskets 🥰🥰🥰🥰...
What a beautiful couple, we can all only hope to be that happy living with our true love in a van in the dessert
omg - I want these two to be my honorary grandparents.
oh, and I'm officially cutting off the hems of all future trashed t-shirts, and the elastic off of underpants. Untapped resources!!
Becky, hahaha we're honored to be unofficial gparents! You'll fit right in with our group of 15 and counting. And yes, save those t-shirt hems! lol Shalom and Happy Trails!
🚐🌞👵💕
Nice to see a happy couple! I hope they enjoy all their travels
Thank you for the video..Have a Blessed Day..
Lovely couple so humble and inspiring
Freeze dried, excellent choice!
A really nice couple, easy to relate to
Thrifty, practical non-perm build. Gotta really get along with someone to live in such tight quarters. Cheers!
Love this couple.
Awesome tips,I learn more with each video!
They are holding hands! I love it.
Simple and cozy! Love this❤ and sweet couple👏🥰
What a sweet, loving couple. They're making it work for themselves. She ought to sell those crocheted covers, they're awesome!
Bob I'm stopping right in the beginning because this is exactly what my husband and I are planning WITH our pup too. We have been together 30 years. I think we can. We may want a minibus at some point but want all the conveniences a van offers with stealth, easy parking, less limitations in where we can go. But who knows! It may change after a year. You gotta love each other for sure and it 100% effort on both parties. Now back to the video. 😉
I live in a tiny house and didn't have a shower for a while and I found some medical cleaning wipes from a vendor at the flea market and they worked beautifully! I smelled better than being freshly showered and always felt clean. Highly recommended.
A woman after my own heart! I love your organizing skills and your 2 purpose rule. I'll refer to you when I get my own build going. Thank you so much for sharing a part of your life on the road ( hubby too).
I love this couple. How sweet. Happy travels.
cute couple...and what a busi ess opportunity with those crochet covers and hanging bags!!! I'd definitely buy some!!!
Love her crochet, makes it personal, soft, useful and colorful!
