not underrate, just unpractical if this is going to be your only car. they already went through a generation of fame (early 2000s) and people dont really want to deal with them anymore. they were basically going to die off until people started doing k20 swaps or the V6 swap (there is a drop in kit for this now).

the standard Elise had the 1zz as well it's the Elise S that had the 2zz. The 2ZZ is only a bit expensive than the 1zz if you compare the Celica SS-I to the SSII
Itsuka Kiyokata turbo 1zz's are quick dont get me wrong. everyone in the celica community always throws the 1zz out immidiately as soon as they can upgrade to the 2zz from the gts, i think they both dont have much low end torque considering they rely on variable valve timing over displacement. but with the ge bottom end its capable of a much higher horsepower

A buddy of mine had a built to the gills mr2 with a lexus 6 cylinder (not 2jz) with a big fucking turbo on it. the car was mint and had brembo calipers, ceramic racing brakes, slotted drilled rotors, touch screen, everything was done modern and it was the most beautiful car i've ever seen.
