Leon formed the label Shelter Records & signed Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers & Dwight Twilley so he had a good ear for talent.

His talents go back a LONG way. When Paul Revere went into the army, this well before the Raiders were famous beyond Seattle, Leon stepped into his keyboards role. Around 1965, he produced Gary Lewis sessions.
