Fun fact; in the Skoda parts catalogue from that era you could, as a dealer, order Czech beer, it even had its own part number - we ordered a couple of cases of it back in the 90s for a laugh assuming it would never turn up, but when the order arrived, in with all the oil and air filters etc were 2 cases of 12 bottles of lager
Did a bit of research and found some good info. The owner was born in 1933. I know his name etc. I've found blog from 2008, when the owner would have been 75, when a couple of people were complaining about extortionate prices, and he was abrupt and rude. He seemed to also get confused when someone was asking for a badge and they went round in circles for days. I would say he got too old and senile, maybe ending up in a home. Companies House only shows him and someone older as registered. Probably abandoned for around ten years or so.

Almost certainly another victim of the Volkswagen takeover of Skoda. When that happened, a lot of the traditional old, independent Skoda dealerships lost their franchises overnight, regardless of what their contract situation was with Skoda UK, and the franchises all went to VAG UK's favoured dealers. It was absolutely criminal, and probably illegal, but none of the independents had the money to take the case to court, so they got away with it, apart from a very small slap on the wrist from the SMMT...
Incredible! Once again, many thanks for entertaining us so well! What is a little confusing - contradictory, even - is that this place has clearly been "gone over" a few times by different people. It would not have been so untidy when operating. And yet, given that there are rare and valuable parts present, little appears to have been stolen. Obviously, we don't know what was there to begin with but there is still so much that would fetch good money today on eBay!
The contents of those stores would be worth a fortune to a Skoda garage/restorer. And seeing the cars out the back - it's such a damn shame to see them in that state. That Lancia looks by far the oldest, I'd say it was mid/late 50's. The V4 is a very Italian thing to do - Alfa Romeo had them also. The Merc engine you found was likely out of the SL parked out back, or intended to replace the one in it.
