Agreed 100% with Caleb. I hit the subscribe button 2 minutes into the video, very intellectual review and insights. Thank you. Don't stop doing what you're doing.
Great video. I just won this rifle in 6.5CM at a Legacy banquet. Best $20 I ever risked. Can’t wait to scope it up, and go fill out the paperwork for a suppressor.
Great video and excellent information showing how you don't have to have an extremely expensive setup to shoot long range. Thank you for all these videos and sharing your knowledge with us.
Nice review and interesting in that I don't think I've seen anyone else do a short barrel before on 6.5 Creedmoor. Nice to know you still have 700-800 yards with a flat mount. I'd never need more if I just used it for hunting. Thanks,.
First time on this channel and you did a superb job with this. This is a rifle I was interested in for hunting and long range shooting and you gave me all of the info I was looking for. Now time to go out and purchase.
That seems like a great little rifle, Ruger does make some nice stuff. Those two groups were darn good, especially the second one was almost 1/2 MOA. Thanks for the lesson, I appreciate the help.
I have the ruger American predator 18 inch barrel in 308 that I put a silencer co hybrid on and it’s a freakin tac driver less than one Moa all day long . I couldn’t be happier with mine !
Thank you for the review. Excellent job. I saw this same rifle offered online and I am very tempted. I opted to complete a .308 gas gun that has been in the works for a long time. If I get into 6.5cm it will be with this rifle.
Burris Signature rings with their eccentric inserts will also take care of that 0 MOA rail situation, and probably more cost efficiently than buying a new base and ring combo. You can even do some windage truing with them, too.
This Ruger sells at a price that the average working man can afford to pay . One gets a rifle that can be used for hunting and target shooting with no modifications other than a 20Moa base for long range , however if one is shooting out to 500 or 600 Yards a 20 Moa base is not necessary . What’s more is that these Rugers are very accurate into the bargain. Excellent value for money in my opinion .
Great video! I was wondering about this rifle. My father in law has one and it surprised me at 250 yards with the accuracy. Good affordable choice to get into. Great video as always X-RING
I built an AR 10 in 6.5 Creedmoor 22' Heavy Barrel a while back and I now have a 16 Lb Rifle..... Maybe I went overboard a bit, and my research into a new 18' Barrel of similar build brought me here. Always great Videos
Thank you and thanks for the comment. Rick reviewed this rifle at the same time and released it on his channel. He shot a 3 shot group measuring .32” at 100 yards. This rifle is a shooter!
I myself think the scratching vinyl sound is a sign of a good bolt. but I have not shot state of the art rifles as you have. Another good video. I'm seriously thinking about acquiring this Magpul Ruger combo as I just handled one at the SMWH and it felt great. Thanks.
Picked one up last year, came with the break. My daughter just finished her hunter safety course. Brought her out for a little shooting, mind you her first time shooting bigger than a BB gun. Set up at 50 yds. 2 shots, first slightly out of bullseye 2nd dead center. Moved target back for 100 yds completed 12 shots. 10 were inside a tennis ball sized group, other 2 just outside. Not bad for first time. She loved it
Good for her sand flea. She will be a great little hunter before long with that kind of training, Keep up the great work working with your daughter which most dad's have no clue on how to do.
Very nice. I have the predator model with a stainless 22" barrel. Was a dealer exclusive. Put it in the hunter stock. I'm completely satisfied with it.
This is exactly what I was looking for. A budget friendly rifle for longer range shooting. Get out and have some fun. Guess I'll have to wait for next video at the long range.
Great info brother! By the way, heard you guys were in N. C.. I grew up in Rutherford County. Been in Detroit for the last 30 years but still a foothills man! Thanks for the channel.
Thank You Sir! The 20 moa scope mount information easy to understand. I thought the mounts were parallel. I liked that you did not flinch after feeling the first recoil.
I bought a American Predator in 6.5 Creedmoor to get my feet wet and it’s s solid value now I have a Ruger long range target in the same caliber to try , I also use Vortex optics they fit my budget Leupold priced me out now that I am retired
Nice! There are definitely some great options out there now that won’t break the bank. I love competition among the firearms manufacturers. More innovative products with competitive pricing.
This is the only video I’ve seen with a factory 18” barrel, mine came factory as a go-wild and I added a magpul stock a few months ago it came with a hell of a muzzle-brake too.
Wow beautiful rifle I just got the Ruger Ranch and I learned so much from your video. I wish I knew more about using a scope but im a beginner and you helped a lot. Cheers.
A added bonus for the Ruger American Short action platform being Anarchy Outdoors makes high quality replacement bolt handles, a wide variety of bolt knobs, bolt shrouds, firing pin removal tool, Timney makes a replacement trigger for it. Obviously Magpul has their adjustable (LOP & Cheek) Hunter stock inletted to accommodate the American short action and there are several chassis systems available. All in all one can piece together a reasonably priced, reasonably accurate custom kit with all the bits & pieces available for the platform.
Really liked the rifle for the type of geography that I shoot. Barrel length will cut down weight and should be quite accurate at 200 to 300 yds. Excellent comments on setting up scope with minimum amount of shells spent. Keep those videos coming. I have been following you for a while now and I have learned a lot. Thanks for sharing your wealth of knowledge.
I'm still looking into this rifle, I want to buy a Ruger precision in 6.5 Creed but their typically around 14 to 16 hundred stock, by the time you buy a few hundred rounds of ammo, a good quality optic, sling and bipod and mount it all you're out upwards of 2 grand, but worth every penny in my opinion, I've personally watched inexperienced shooters hit at a mile within the first 6 round with the precision rifles, but perhaps the American Hunter would make a viable option for around a grand less than the precision model but I'm still undecided at this point.
Magtech is making 6.5 now. It's got a longer pointed bullet in cbc brass rather than the sellier & bellots rounded tip bullets. S&B has shown a SD of 10. BTW Polish the raceway takes the sound away. They leave machine marks in there to keep the price down.
My ruger American predator 6.5mm creedmoor with the hornady eld-x 143 gr has been super accurate, a deer and coyote killing machine for the last 2 years. I've beat the hell outta that thing carrying hunting. Vortex crossfire ii bdc reticle scope. Deer taken out past 300 yards to 20 yards. One shot kills. Longer but thinner barrel than in this test. Gonna try some steel out to 500 this year
My review of my new rifle. Weight as expected, fit was excellent, accuracy was hitting 3/8 inch groups 100 yards with an average scope and a loose mount.. so I would say dam fine as expected just shooter error.
Because of my 308W AR10, I am HEAVILY INVESTED in .30 caliber consumables. Were it not for that, I would give 6.5 Creedmoor a really hard look. With that being said, a Ruger American hunter with a 20 inch barrel in 308 is something I am going to give some serious consideration, since I am in the market for a do all bolt gun in the same caliber as my AR10 that won't break the bank.
I bought that same scope from MidwayUSA. It had decent features, but image was the worst I've ever had. I returned it. Still looking for a replacement...
Great video. I’m picking this rifle up with a viper pst 4-16 here locally in the next week or two. Cant wait to get into to some long range shooting with it.
Very nicely done ✅ I learned so much especially what to expect with this setup out to 700 or so yards Very happy with your video This video 10 out of 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I will share it family and friends and they will do the same Best wishes always from Las Vegas Craig Bravo 👏🏻
I would worry more about Trans-sonic speed for the fact that many bullets lose stability transitioning from trans-sonic to sub-sonic. This occurs at about 1341 fps according to Brian Litz making this rifle about a reliable 880 yard rifle with 100 yard zero. Good video.
Thanks for explaining what 20 moa base means. 👍 Not interested in this rifle, just the caliber. Regardless, what a excellent job explaining & filming! Well done gentlemen. I will be looking for more of your rifle videos.
I've had the same gun for a few months now. I can't get 1 moa with the 140+ grain ammo. Lately I've been using American Eagle 120gr Open Tip Match and it groups 1/2 moa all day. I need to try the ELD-X stuff in 120gr. I don't know the velocity because I don't have a chronograph but I used a chart I found online to get my velocity with a similar weight ammo. I plugged in 2680 into my ballistic calculator and have been able to hit a 3 inch plate at 220 yards with ease. Everything I've shot up to 500 seems to line up with what the calculator is telling me to do also.
Nice review. If anyone's looking for a 20 MOA base, EGW and Leopold both make one. I've got the Leupold with an SWFA in the 22" version and have taken it out to a mile. The Hornady Black 140g also groups fantastic, and it's great out to 1000 and 2/3 the price of the eldm.
Love my Ruger American. Saw a video of a guy on Long Range Shooters of Utah do the milk jug challenge with one. Hit the 1000, 1200 and then the 1500 on the 3rd shot. Anarchy outdoors makes some nice aftermarket parts for them. Bolt handles and knobs etc. I put a $10 trigger spring sold on amazon in mine. Takes the trigger down to around 2lbs. Which is all I want for a dual purpose rifle.
What a great explanation of MOA! I learned so much more than I was expecting from a review.Thank you for the great video & editing!
Thanks Caleb and thanks for watching.
Agreed 100% with Caleb. I hit the subscribe button 2 minutes into the video, very intellectual review and insights. Thank you. Don't stop doing what you're doing.
your one of the better gun info blokes getting around for real knowladge and information, you come across as a genuine person.
Cheers from Aus.
Great video. I just won this rifle in 6.5CM at a Legacy banquet. Best $20 I ever risked. Can’t wait to scope it up, and go fill out the paperwork for a suppressor.
The every man's precision rifle. Excellent video. It doesn't have to be spendy to be excellent.
Very true Andrew. Thanks for watching and commenting on this one.
A
These rifles are crazy accurate. As far as the 18" barrel it will still maintain velocity for a 600yrd hunting situation. Keep on.
Great group RAY glad to see you reviewing guns that are in other people's budget thanks
Thanks TB. I really wanted to do this review for that very reason.
Great video and excellent information showing how you don't have to have an extremely expensive setup to shoot long range. Thank you for all these videos and sharing your knowledge with us.
Thanks Reuben. This is really why I wanted to review this rifle setup. I hope to get it out to long range soon to show more.
Great review on a budget rifle. The new version of the Hunter comes as a 20in barrel with a muzzle brake from the factory.
Nice review and interesting in that I don't think I've seen anyone else do a short barrel before on 6.5 Creedmoor. Nice to know you still have 700-800 yards with a flat mount. I'd never need more if I just used it for hunting. Thanks,.
What a great review of information in long range shooting, you’re very informative. Excellent video.
Thanks X-Ring 👍🏾
Thanks for giving us average guys some really useful education about some of the basics. keep up the great videos.
Excellent reference "Scratching the Record" and reverent to say the least.
LoL. It’s the truth !😂
Actually, the cheek rest is adjustable. They sell several different height inserts that you can swap around.
First time on this channel and you did a superb job with this. This is a rifle I was interested in for hunting and long range shooting and you gave me all of the info I was looking for. Now time to go out and purchase.
My pleasure. I was able to get it out to 700 today. Hope to release the video tonight or tomorrow .
@@XRING Looking forward to it.
That seems like a great little rifle, Ruger does make some nice stuff. Those two groups were darn good, especially the second one was almost 1/2 MOA. Thanks for the lesson, I appreciate the help.
Thanks Fumaster. This is an impressive package. Rick pulled out a .32” group after I did this review. He will post his shortly.
@@XRING Wow, that is awesome. I will check it out for sure. thanks brother~
The American series have great triggers from the factory. Considering picking up the 7.62×39 for plinking and maybe hunting
Ray, you are a wealth of knowledge. I love the channel. Subscribed
Excellent video. Very educational.
He will love that scope.
Love watching your videos I just got into long range shooting about two years ago and I’ve learned a lot from watching your videos
Thanks Austin and thank you for watching the channel. I do appreciate it.
I have the ruger American predator 18 inch barrel in 308 that I put a silencer co hybrid on and it’s a freakin tac driver less than one Moa all day long . I couldn’t be happier with mine !
Thank you for the review. Excellent job. I saw this same rifle offered online and I am
very tempted. I opted to complete a .308 gas gun that has been in the works for a long time. If I get into 6.5cm it will be with this rifle.
Awesome! Thanks Six, I knew I wanted to review this setup. I am partial to shorter barrel length rifles.
I like that little set up. Good stuff guys
Thanks Chris and thanks for watching.
I have the ruger American predator in a 6.5 creedmoor with a magpul stock and a vortex viper scope and a muzzle break and I love this rifle😁
really great budget option, might look at this for myself its on the table for sure! Thanks Ray!
My pleasure BadBilly. Heck, I like this thing a lot as well!

I have a lightweight barrel and it is a tack driver. I stopped using heavy barrels except for on competition bench guns.
Great shooting! I dont think it matters what equipment you shoot! The marksman is the key. Thank you for another great video!
Thank you and thanks for the comment. Rick reviewed this rifle at the same time and released it on his channel. He shot a 3 shot group measuring .32” at 100 yards. This rifle is a shooter!
As a custom gun lover, that's a sweet looking factory rig. Nicely done video too.

You make this look easy...... up/down
Right /left, close/far and away. With all the rugers sold this country should have plenty of sharp shooters.
Very nice. I have the predator model with a stainless 22" barrel. Was a dealer exclusive. Put it in the hunter stock. I'm completely satisfied with it.

That’s HE SA. The 6.5 Creedmoor round has very tame recoil. Much less than even a 308. Very pleasant to shoot.

Just picked up one just like it with the 18" cerakote barrel...this gives me confidence that i made good choice.

The comb height on the Magpul Hunter stock IS adjustable with a taller and a shorter pad available through Magpul.
My Ruger American Predator in the MDT chassis shoots really well.
I bet channel cat. MDT chassis are nice.

I would worry more about Trans-sonic speed for the fact that many bullets lose stability transitioning from trans-sonic to sub-sonic. This occurs at about 1341 fps according to Brian Litz making this rifle about a reliable 880 yard rifle with 100 yard zero. Good video.
Thanks Thomas! You are absolutely correct. Plenty enough to dabble in long range shooting.
Great job
Thank you for the video, what do you think of the Ruger Guide rifle in 30:06 / how would you improve it?
Thanks for explaining what 20 moa base means. 👍 Not interested in this rifle, just the caliber. Regardless, what a excellent job explaining & filming! Well done gentlemen. I will be looking for more of your rifle videos.
That probably wouldn't be my choice for a scope but The rifle does seem to be a winner at that price point.
Thanks Miles. I was pleasantly surprised by how well this scope tracked. What scope would you have chosen?
@@XRING I would probably used a night force SHV. 4.5 x 14 x50 F1 For the effective range of that particular barreled rifle.

Thank for the info Brocked and Loaded. Excellent addition to the video and thanks for watching the video. 👍🏼
Looks like a Scout rifle! I like it!
(although why someone would choose 6.5 mm over the much more commonly available .308 is another story)
I got this rifle in 308, it was a very good price. But really wanted the Steyr Scout. Just going to pull the trigger on $2,500
nice work
Hey I just purchased one of these in 308, I was wondering what bipod do you have on that rifle? Subscribed to your channel great vids!
